DIGITAL DESIGN & DIGITAL FABRICATION My portfolio mainly harbors some projects of art and space, which are my interested research areas. We are social animals. So I prefer to think and design my works from the perspective aof groups. You may find that all my design projects have relations with the existing ways of individuals in given groups. I hope that my spatial designs can eliminate social contradictions and maintain individuals’ particularity and difference as well. Thus I care more about the spiritual requirements of individuals. The major directions of my design concepts are observation and communication. I hope that through my designs, the feeling that space brings to people is not constant, people can get feedback and be inspired to achieve more and think more.

LOOKING CONTAINER 1 2017/10 SIGLE WORK VIDEO OF STARING AT EACH OTHER IN PUBLIC SPACES When people look at each other with things or people, their eyes contain a lot of feedback information, revealing their cognition and emotion to things, and most directly reflecting love, hate, curiosity, suspicion and other emotions. While in the public space, people become more self-contained, and they seem to try to avoid eye contact with strangers. The project aims to capture people's staring and behavioral characteristics in public spaces through the design of lens spaces.

Catch One's Eyes

Model Design

We often cover up too much attention to others and environment. Don’t we want to see more strangers and things. The answer is absolutely negative. We were born of curiousness. Curiosity Discover

Mirror Look at your self

When we pass through a half -open door or a uncovered package, we always want to look at the world with curious expectations or uneasy emotions. The unknown often leads people to see, to discover.

The most accustomed staring is to look at our eyes and the most familiar face from the mirrorw or glass. This kind of self - staring are often attached with scrutiny, thinking and sorting.

Back to Back Doubt & Coward

Face to Face Distance & Shy

All of us are curious about our backs. That's a disturbing area that we don't see at all. When we are sitting on the back-to-back chairs at the airport or in the park, even if you don't look back, you will look at the person behind you with your face sideways.

When we have to face to face with strangers in the small space such as in the subway, we will keep a certain distance when feeling the eyes flickered on the face of each other or immediately getting away from when staring.

How often does staring take place when people are in the specific spaces that are not wide? The individual is simplified as a red bean to represent them. The red bean body represents the field of people's activities space, white budding part represents the people's field of vision. With 47 red beans for bean sprouting experiment, counting the number of sprouting part in the face of each other, the largest group has nine beans, which means that in stationary state, there are only nine people may have the possibility of staring in 47 people. 94-104°View

The Vertical View

How to increase the probabilities of people staring. The best horizontal view range is from 30 to 60 degrees, and the best vertical view is from positive 30 degrees to negative 30 degrees. Enlarging the scope of this range may increase the possibility of staring. The camera is modeled after the eyes, therefore I intend to broaden version by refitting the shot.

I have made some optical channel -- “looking container” to carry out the test by the cutting and assembling of mirror PVC material. The shot need to capture the pictures by these channels. After trial and error, I have summarized the imaging characters of each channel and found several special channels that can broaden version.

Film shots

Though selecting, I decide to carry out the capture of staring in the public space by "triangle container", "pyramid container" and "cylindrical container". I choose to shot in outdoor space, car interior space, elevator space, subway space, and corridor space. I have captured interesting details in each place.

5

Maybe the special shape attracts him, so he can't help looking at it for a few seconds. He would not know, he just passed by himself.

A girl riding the bike flashed fast in front of the camera, capturing her curious glance.

There were two elderly people far away looking here, and slowly passing. A few students looked at me, and also quickly passed. In the camera, they seem to have crossed the time and experienced a reincarnation and cycle.

The driver is concentrating on driving, the car environment and the drivers' motions all appear on the picture at the same time. Through the mirror, I captured his expressionless glance.

6

She appeared on the wall of the container, and I followed her mirror image, trying to find where she was.

The elevator is a place where the strangers can stare at each other frequenttl. The space is narrow, it continuously open and close, people naturally stare at each other in and out of the moment, telling their own state of life and emotions.

On the subway, people always have the process of dynamic and static transformation. When they are still after finding the end of the stance, the people who have sat waiting for the subway door closed will have the staring.

She seemed in the opposite corridor.

She turned a corner.

After quickly staring, she finally appeared in the shot and left quickly.

People are longing for staring in the place you cannot see to hide and explore. But vision as a kind of instinct, “see this movement generally occurs in the brain before judging, we actually constantly to rejudge and reunderstand environment and people.

Collection of Ways of Seeing

2017/10 SIGLE WORK

Vision is the first kind of language to communicate with the world. It is vague, inaccurate and often subjective, but we communicate with other people’s objectively through it. We unconsciously and passively accept the information given by the world to us, with which we explore new understanding.

My project is to design the exhibition space for the Chinese contemporary artist Ceng Fanzhi. It is located in Beijing798 art zone. However, with increasing flow of people, even some tour groups bringing tourists to have a visit, the silence of former artists has been broken and commercialization has made people more and more of a kind of sightseeing. This case started with “way of watching” to reform the gallery space and hoping to remind people of the nature of “seeing” and focuses of the tour and the work itself and stress this cognitive process that we’re used to.

We secretly peer through the cracks.

We sometimes see distorted things.

Others are looking at you while you are looking at others.

We also want to look at things we can’t see, tiny or grand.

We are both spectators and participants.

We are usually deceived by visual and surface phenomena.

We observe each other to feel the same and different.

What we see is sometimes the tip of the icebery, and there’s too much we cannot see.

We often see not directly.

Model Design&Discussion Guide Sight

Space Form Influencing Visual and Environmental Dialogue Change Sight The length of the screen is sometimes not fixed, and when it is large, people will see the colors of the pictures at different heights with reflecting light different. In the model the effects of different height on the visual horizontal plane and vertical plane is discussed.

There are connections and stories in a group of portraitures of an author, and how to look at a few pictures at the same time? We start with focus and fold space, with inspiration as the frame structure of the roof, use the perspective relationship to determine the specific space angle, and the same as the exploration of the secret garden, guide people to need to seek the best viewing angel.

Cover Sight The distribution of different height space forms is discussed through the combination of small structure units.

Twist Sight

In the model phase, the distortion of images seen through metal, glass and plastic surfaces and the spatial environment changes in reflection is observed.

Enclosed walls make you distracting, and under such environment the relationship between the opening of the window and the covered sight and the influence of the person inside or outside the space on the scope of the object he can see is discussed, and the position point of the person is tried to fixed to control the picture that people see.

Conclusion

T h e x- s h a p e d cross-structure p r o v i d e s extended space to the window and endows the inner space with more combinations to guide people to look inside from multiple viewports.

11

Conclusion

By determining the space height change form combining slope and channel, arranging pictures in the metope of different directions, increasing the “split vision device, and changing the number of objects in the field of vision, people will concentrate on the required drawings. Material: Linden wood, PVC pipe

In the form of two-layer e n c l o s e d structure, and inside and outside of the box to watch, the inside can focus more on the key part of the picture, while the exterior is the normal viewing mode.

It is required to design shell device with reflection p r o p e r t i e s distribution in the corner and the center of the space, add element of a distorted to normal space to disrupt the normal watch rhythm of people, and give the change.

Combinational Design of Exhibition Space

Introduction of Painters' works series

Radiation Corridor - Portrait Series

Zeng Fanzhi is regarded as one of the contemporary Chinese artists with more representative and international influence.

Portrait Series For the early period works o f Z e n g Fa n z h i , t h e r e are creation of portraits, thinking and presenting the state of human existence, emphasizing the unique spirit and difference of the individual, and showing the mental state of the person in a moment

Basic Unit & Wall Derivation

Start from the line arrangement of two-point perspective .

Rearrange the line according to the spatial distribution .

Fo r m u l a t e a p p r o p r i a t e exhibition location, and mark the suitable cloth painting metope.

Reserve channel and window location .

Extend the window opening, put emphasis on a particular area, and guide the sight.

Design presentation.

In the specific version, what you see is not just a picture but the conversation with the group.

Hole Space - Meat Series

The desired angle of view

Meat Series He describes the figure by using expressionism, the red color with the intense visual irritation, giving figures a peeled redcolored body, equating human beings with animals, which suggests that primitiveness of mankind is the most naked, the weakest, and the most authentic essence of human existence.

Hospital Series In his early works, the figures in the paintings, whether they were medical workers or patients, whose heads and hands were highlighted and exaggerated. This painting style directly led to the next stage of Zeng Fanzhi’s “mask”series.

Mask Series Because of the existence of false faces, there is a certain distance between people and people, and when the real self and all kinds of desires are hidden, the image that appears in the public is just a false face. It shows the hypocritical and artificial false human nature.

Open the holes

The distribution of the hole on the one side of the wall

The distribution of the hole on the other side of the wall The space is divided into two parts: the external corridor and the internal box. It is proposed to calibrate 21 observation points in the internal box and analyze the observation point of each point on the external wall to draw out the best position for opening the window and observe the hole. The box wall is divided into opaque interior walls and frosted translucent outer wall, covering planning sight. The inside of the box can be seen from lateral corridor, which reflects the relationship between people seeing and being seen and replacement role in the space.

The space will connect the space and space in the form of corridors. In the ends and sides of the long and narrow space hangs pictures separately, and the ground gradually fluctuates upward, bringing people different impression changes in horizontal and vertical directions. The hanging “split vision” device aims to lead the sight to the paintings to remove the sundries in the field of vision.

The rectangular space of the rules will be broken up and divided into four irregular radial areas. The space for exhibitions will be based on individual as scale standard giving people enough independent subjective view of painting space.

People’s thinking modes are often led by the external forms of things. I hope that people can maintain the thinking and suspicion. What you see is not necessarily true. People should see the works itself.

2017/7/25

Enneper's surface is a wellknown minimal surface. Though it has a fairly uncomplicated parameterization (first equations above), it is somewhat hard to visualize because of its selfintersections.

Properties: Tangent Planes:

Enneper Surface Parametric Visualization in Rhino&Grasshopper

Infinitesimal Area:

Mathematically, geometry model “Enneper Surface is redesigned asymmetrically and the surface space which is made on-site , complete the possibility of spatial variability.

Gaussian Curvature:

Geometrically, the asymmetrical design corresponds to the symmetry of modernism. Manufacturing, non-standard digital manufacturing corresponds to the modernist assembly line standards. In the current context of technology and design, we put forward the challenge of modernism and criticism, while complete the difference and aesthetic (elegance) exploration in this space text.

Environmental status

PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE SPACE DESIGN

There are 12,000 High-tech enterprises and 857,700 employees, leading to large people flow and traffic flow.

Internet-sharing bike without pile in China set off a wave of riding all over the country, the user scale is expected to reach 50 million by the end of 2017. When people are riding, this low-carbon travel mode solves the problem of congestion peak to some extent. However, when riding is stopped, messy parking, the crowded stay at the parking pot and other problems occur, as a result, the flooding of shared bicycles has become another part of traffic jam. I hope to create a shared bicycle hub through rebuilding the pedestrian overpass space to change this situation.

There are three pedestrian bridges in the north-south direction and especially in the vicinity of the middle bridge the traffic jams are the worst because of two subway stations and a gas station near the bridge.

The commercial buildings are surrounded by balustrade and sidewalks are narrow, besides, shared bicycles parking occupies sidewalks, resulting in the congestion of cars, bicycles and people in the road Therefore, this case hopes to use the idle pedestrian bridge as a hub, and transforms it into a public parking for sharing bicycle, integrating with the technology environment around to provide a leisure space for the office workers nearby and the people waiting for buses.

Structural Design

My design plans to transform the straight line into the curved line to facilitate the cycling of bicycles. The structural transformation of the bridge is inspired by the traces left by the wheel, intertwined and then diverged in different directions, just like the function of the bridge. These three-dimensional patterns separate the trajectory of person from bikes.

Pedestrian Passageway Activity Area

 Bicycle Parking Area

From the sharing perspective, hope to create a space that can accommodate pedestrians, parking and commercial activities at the same time. Inspired by bicycle wheel prints, because the inclined angle can make full use of space and make the channel widen, design such intertwined pipe space to make the space transparent and non-blocking when people and vehicles are separated. Half-enclosed pipe fittings extend the commercial space by connecting commercial buildings with the both sides of the bridge. It can be used to park slightly larger mobile tools, such as tricycles of mobile. Make the management more standardized, and there are still enough private areas in the open structure. When there is no bicycle parking, you can rest for a while.

Design a semi-automatic semi-suspension parking device with built-in pedrail , keep the bicycle balance by holding the handlebar when it goes upward, pull down the hook handle to fix after arriving at the desired height. Triangle hollow makes it easy to pull the handle at all angles.

Reuse of The Shared Bicycle Debris

By the end of 2017, a total of nearly 20 bicycle brands have been put into operation in the country with an estimated 2 million bicycles. In 2017, the estimated total number of bicycles to be put into operation may reach 20 million. After the bicycle is scrapped, nearly 300,000 tons of non-metals will be produced roughly equivalent to the weight of structural steel of 5 aircraft carriers. The garbage produced by shared bicycles has had a very bad effect on the urban. It also brings a great test to the city's processing capacity.

Combine the wheels and the tripod to design a free-moving public seat. Be convenient to re-assemble and arrange space on the pedestrian bridge.

Support the tooth-shaped bar desk with waste pipe fittings and acrylic plate surface. Change the traditional rectangular shape, and combine with the rotatable bicycle seat, to give individuals or two people better private space.
