48 HOURS OF FOOTBALL The final whistle went. After enduring blisters, bruises, sun stroke, exhaustion and sleep deprivation our two intrepid teams of YFC staff, volunteers and friends were overjoyed to break the Guinness World Record for the longest continuous five-a-side football match on a bright May morning. At the end of a mammoth 48 hours of play Gavin spoke amidst joyous scenes… “A massive thank you to everyone involved; to all the players, support teams, referees, witnesses and supporters. You’ve been phenomenal. It’s been 6 months of training leading up to this. I’ve run marathons and cycled the length of the country before, but this has been the toughest challenge by far. I’m so thankful that although we had a few injuries, there were no major ones and everyone came through the 48 hours pretty much intact. We tried to be worshipful in our behaviour and our playing and considering most of us have had about an hour’s sleep in two days, I think we’ve brought honour to Jesus through what we’ve done. The glory is always for Him! PAGE 12

The reason we did this, is because we want to see more young people hear about and meet Jesus Christ. We believe Jesus is the hope of the world and there are more opportunities to work with young people in this country today than ever before. So a bunch of us lost a load of weight and got ourselves ready for this so that more young people can hear about Jesus.” Amazingly we’ve raised over £52,000 to further the vital work of YFC across Britain!
