My Personal Goals as a Student

An obvious goal as a working adult returning to school is, of course, to earn a degree. My overall goal is no different than any other student, however, I also have several personal goals I hope to achieve while attending the University. Some of these goals are to acquire new skills and enhance my current business abilities, to apply what I learn in the classroom to forward my career, and to feel personal satisfaction of finishing something I started. Already having experience in thebusiness world has proven to me that it is essential to have skills to maintain and improve daily functions. Three skills I'd personally like to improve on are my organizational, time management, and presentation...show more content...

By just going through the motions of coming to work everyday, only getting done what has to be done, andgoing home at the end of the day, one might realize that an everyday routine can quickly turn into a mundane professional life. At the same time, if a person does all of these things, but shows a bit of initiative to gain more knowledge of the job, they may see an opportunity to slightly move up in the company. The latter is my situation. My experience and knowledge of my department and its systems have afforded me the opportunity to move up within the department over the past five years, but I'm beginning to see a limit of how far those skills alone will allow me to climb. Being an expert in my field of pharmaceutical benefits doesn't translate into managing personnel just as knowing how to complete a task doesn't mean I'm able to give a clear presentation on how it should be done. Sure, I've been rewarded for the work I've done and knowledge I've obtained, but at some point, my employer will eventually see that more is needed to continue to promote me to higher, more management focused positions. My goal is to complete these courses and obtain my degree to prove that, if the situation arises, I can be the right person for the job. A more personal goal of mine is to finish what I've started. After high school,

The Goal – Report 1. What are the methods described in The Goal for identifying a bottleneck?

The bottleneck is defined as the resource such that the capacity is equal to, or less than the demand placed on it. To identify the bottleneck for this particular case, those processes were analyzed after which there is usually a shortage of material 2. After bottlenecks have been identified, what are the concrete factory floor–level actions described in the book for improving overall system performance?

After identifying the bottlenecks, the actions described in the book were as follows: * Have the bottlenecks always run at full capacity * Let the speed of the bottleneck decide the speed of the process....show more content...

The step that is the limiting resource, whether due to limited machinery or high expense, should be the bottleneck. It doesn't have to be either at the beginning or the end of the process, but it should dictate the demand. The process should be organized in such a way that the bottleneck is being used to full capacity. 6. What are the high–level management messages in this book that you consider to be of value?

Some of the high level management messages in the book that I really consider of value are continuous improvement and team building. Alex does not use the knowledge that Jonah has provided to figure out a plan and give his team orders. Instead, he involves them in answering Jonah's questions and in making the best possible plans for the factory.

Alex and his team are also very aware that just because they make one thing better and improve their bottom line, they cannot coast. They are constantly making improvements on the factory floor, reducing their order times, looking for larger orders to fill etc. 7. Leaving writing style and other delivery issues aside (e.g., romance novel format), what substantial critiques of this book would you make pertaining to its function as a "textbook" on the management of business operations?

I actually really like the use of this book as a textbook. Often times students are assigned cases and asked for their feedback, what changed they would make to improve things. But we never Get more content

Throughout my life I have set many goals, starting when I was at a young age setting the goal to build the tallest tour with my blocks at age five, or even set the goal to be the valedictorian of my class in eighth grade. I have learned in life that goals are a very important aspect to succeed in life. Not only do goals give us the motivation to achieve the highest potential we can accomplish, but also give us the confidence to achieve higher goals we did not think we could ever accomplish. As I have grown as an individual, I have realized that my goals have matured, and become more focused. I have had to learn to make a path for myself, to start planning early, and organize my goals. That being said, I will always have to keep in mind the many complications life will throw in my way. Those complications will be stepping stones to help me gain strength in my goals as well. I have set many goals for myself, but I have...show more content...

When I grow old and weary I want to be able to say, "I have not missed a chance to live my life to the fullest." I want to remember that I took every possible opportunity that was offered to me. I want to see every state, country, and ocean. I want to see the beautiful wonders that this world has kept secret from me. I hope to see the different cultures, and explore the different sites. I want to be able to say I traveled the whole world, and show anything is possible if you put your mind to it. These goals are all of the most important factors in my life. They tie together due to the fact that if I do not get a good job, then I can not support my family or travel, and if I can not travel then I will not be able to tell my family of my amazing adventures. These goals are my future, they are the new building blocks to my adult life that I hope to succeed greatly at. My goals will bring me to new adventures, new experiences, and lots of interesting sites that will forever change my

Choosing a career in medicine is my first career choice, and in many ways it is the only career choice I want. From professional athletes that we see on television, to the educators that have taught me and many others through the years, they all have committed themselves to extensive study. They have practiced countless of hours to master their individual skill set for their profession. I see myself following in the same footsteps, but as a pediatrician. I want to also master the skills that it takes to be a great doctor. It may not be simple and the outcome may not be near, but with extensive studying and practice I want to achieve and master the set of skills of pediatric diagnosis and eventually improve the medical process. This is my...show more content...

My working experience with Dr. Sure has taught me that to exercise good clinical judgment required extensive study, practice, and endless hours of work. As a pediatrician, I will strive to make every effort to empower and educate my own patients with the knowledge that will give them control over there aliments. With each visit I hope that we can work together for a brighter and healthier tomorrow.

Naturally, my eagerness to learn came about at a very young age. I always wanted to know how the human body worked. Growing up in the age of YouTube, I often poured over countless hours of videoslearning simple concepts that I could easily understand at that time. As I grew I was always looking to learn something new. Finally, in high school I took advantage of College Now, a program where students in high school had access to college classes on a college campus while receiving college credits. While I was there, I earned a Certificate in Computer Science from CUNY Queens College. This eagerness to learn came about of a very simple reason. My parents had high aspirations for me since no one on either side of their families had ever gone beyond a high school education. They wanted me to be the first in the family to achieve a Bachelor's degree. Finally in 2012, I graduated from St. Johns University with a
