In Passing Peggy R. Moore, 87, Bridgewater, Va., passed away Nov. 5, 2014. Peggy spent her childhood and teen years on a small farm in west Tennessee. She Peggy Moore was a U.S. Navy nurse for 15 years and served her country in many duty stations, including Vietnam. Peggy and her husband, Mike, bought a farm near New Market, Va., and purchased their first registered Hereford cattle in 1972. Following Mike’s death in 1984, Peggy continued in the Hereford business until she sold her Virginia farm and returned to Tennessee. She continued to stay in the Hereford business by having cows at fellow Hereford breeders’ farms in Tennessee and Virginia. Peggy has been an active member of the Virginia Hereford Association

and the Virginia Poll-ettes and was a former president of the Virginia Polled Hereford Association. She worked tirelessly with the junior Hereford organization, was supportive of the Virginia Hereford queen program and was an active volunteer in local 4-H clubs. She is survived by stepchildren Maureen McGuire and Kevin Moore. William George “Bill” Watson, 80, Beloit, Kan., passed away Dec. 30, 2014. After graduating from Barnard High School, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army Active Reserves in 1953 and was in the Quartermaster Corps through 1961. Bill married Charlene Rawlings in 1954. When Bill graduated from high school, his parents gave him three Hereford cows which became the foundation for a lifetime in the registered Hereford business. Bill

and Charlene owned and operated Watson’s Walking W Polled Herefords. Bill was a lifetime member of the American Hereford Association and the former American Polled Hereford Association and was active in the Kansas Polled Hereford Association. He bred Hereford cattle and exhibited in local, state and national shows for more than 60 years. He received the Outstanding Farmer of Lincoln County award and served as a director on the Salt Creek Watershed Board for more than 30 years. Bill is survived by his wife, Charlene; son, Dwight; daughters Vicki Lebien, Beverly Boling, Jeana Eckhart and Ginger Sedbrook; 14 grandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren. Hereford cattle were his life, and he continued to raise them as long as he lived.
