“Teachers choose to work at Burlington Danes because we want to work hard and make a difference. It’s known throughout London as a school which attracts talented, dedicated teachers.” Nazma Mataria, Assistant Principal

Our Academy Prayer Bless this academy. May we all live happily together and may our academy be full of joy. May each one of us learn and achieve together. May love and respect dwell here among us everyday. Love of learning, love of one another, love of life itself and love of God. Let us remember that as many hands build a house so every student can make Burlington Danes Academy a better place.

Welcome Message from Dame Sally Coates, Principal I am so pleased that you are considering Burlington Danes Academy for your child. As a parent myself I realise how anxious a time this can be for families and how making the decision of a secondary school feels as though it can shape a child’s future. I can state with confidence that this is a school where children succeed. You can be assured that Burlington Danes is a caring, friendly Christian community, focused on achievement, hard work, reward and well-being. We care for one another. Every child, we believe, has the potential to succeed. Our aim is to prepare tomorrow’s leaders and creative thinkers. I look forward to welcoming you to our school.

Message from Lord Stanley Fink, Chair of Governors Burlington Danes Academy is proof that great schools are not only about architectural designs, buildings or even resources but are primarily about people. Outstanding teaching, positive relationships and driven leadership make Burlington Danes not just a wonderful community school but a microcosm of how inclusive and caring society ought to be. I am very proud to be Chair of Governors and part of its success story. Do join us.

Faith & Fulfilment A Christian community

Spiritual Burlington Danes has a close relationship with the Diocese of London. We want to ensure that each student feels valued as a member of our community and as a child of God, sensitive to their own needs and the needs of others. It is a priority of ours to support spiritual growth as well as academic success. These principles help students fulfil their potential, support one another and contribute fully to the academy community. Our exceptional teachers ensure that students are engaged in something enjoyable, worthwhile and meaningful at all times. As a result, they take pride in themselves, their work and their academy.

“My favourite thing about BDA is the people. I have lots of friends and the teachers are very easy to talk to. It’s a calm, safe and happy place to be. Azharul Haque, Student

Beyond the Classroom Enriching experiences

Enrichment Dealing with the pressures of the modern workplace requires confidence and selfesteem as much as specialist knowledge and skills. Our students are given every opportunity to live safe, healthy and fulfilling lives, and to become confident individuals who think for themselves. Alongside our rigorous and engaging lessons,

A Proud History and Exciting Future A tradition of excellence

History and Future Burlington Danes Academy has been educating London’s children for more than 300 years. Formerly two separate schools – Burlington School for Girls, founded on Christmas Day, 1699, and St Clement Danes, founded on 1862 – both were situated in Westminster. St Clement Danes moved to Du Cane Road in 1928, while Burlington School for girls was relocated to our magnificent Art Deco building in 1937. In 1976, the two schools merged to create Burlington Danes Church of England School. Our rich history provides a foundation of familiarity. Most importantly, the gift of tradition gives a sense of identity and of who we want to be; responsible individuals who make a positive contribution to society, have a heightened awareness of citizenship, and a sophisticated understanding of the importance of courtesy and care to others. Since becoming an ARK academy in September 2006, Burlington Danes has gone from strength to strength. With a flourishing community spirit and soaring results, the school is enjoying a productive and prosperous time, forging a future fit for the history books. Be a part of something special.
