Adult Art Ceramics Chemical Hazards in Ceramics Workshop

Master Artist Workshop Image Transfer on Clay Incorporate detailed images onto your work and expand your ideas of what you thought was possible with clay imagery! This one day workshop will cover a variety of different ways to incorporate photographs, copy machine images, text and drawings onto your ceramic pottery or sculpture. Anything that can be photo-copied can be easily transferred to your ceramic work using either Toner Transfer Techniques or Iron Transfer Decals. Carol will also show how to use Underglaze Transfer Decals and Slip Transfer Techniques to add color and pattern to you images. Participants should bring photos, or any other images they want to transfer, 2 or more pieces of leather hard clay and 2 or more finished glazed pieces. Please bring a lunch. CAROL GOUTHRO, a graduate of the University

of Manitoba School of Art, Canada is a Seattle based ceramic artist and educator who has been working and exhibiting for over 30 years. Carol has an extensive exhibition record with 25 solo shows and numerous invitational and juried exhibitions. Her ceramic work has been published in numerous books including The Yixing Effect by Marvin Sweet, the Teapot Book by Steve Woodhouse and 500 Teapots by Lark books.

Clay Class Information: 1. Class and Studio Only fees include firing fees. Please remember that MAC does not have the space to allow for production pottery. Extra firing fees will be assessed if kiln space is being overused. 2. Students are responsible for purchasing their own clay and tools unless otherwise noted. 3. Orders for supplies will be taken at the first class and must be accompanied by a check. Some clay also available for purchase at Moshier. 4. Open Studio: students enrolling in classes marked by a are encouraged to use MAC’s free open studio times. These times can be used while the class you are enrolled in is in session. Mondays: 12–3:30pm, Tuesdays: 12–3:30pm, Wednesdays: 9:30am–9pm, Saturdays: 10am–3:00pm.
