The mayor welcomes back 28 learners

The mayor, Cllr. Vaania Davids, deliveredanaddressduringthe welcome back of 28 young people who were part of the NARYSEC skills development programme of the Department of Rural Development, Land Reform, and Agriculture. They were recruited into the program by the department following an outreach program in Steynsburg in May 2021 led

by Deputy Minister Mcebisi Skwatsha. The Department of Rural Development, Land Reform, and Agriculture has enteredintoanagreementwith the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) to further train them on life skills, job preparedness, and business plans, among other topics They will be starting NYDAtraininginJanuary2023

Walter SisuluMunicipality held their second IDP Representative Forum for the financial year 2022 2023 on Wednesday, November 9 at Burgersdorp Town Hall, where respective government departments and entities presented their progress in implementing service delivery in Walter Sisulu Local Municipality The session was also attended by ward councillors, ward committee members, and other

stakeholders "This isto ensure that there is alignment in the way we deliver services to communities as per our respective mandates as the municipalityanddifferentstate institutions," said Mayor Vania Davids. She said the ward councillors and ward committee members have a responsibility to update the communities in their wards about the progress and plans presentedbythedepartments.

Loaded Boerewors Rolls

with Chakalaka

Ingredients

30 ml (2 Tbsp) sunflower oil

1 onion, peeled and finely chopped

1 green pepper, finely chopped 3 carrots, peeled and grated

30 ml (2 Tbsp) Robertsons

Braai & Grill Spicy BBQ

45 ml (3 Tbsp) Knorr Chakalaka Soup

125 ml (½ cup) water

700 g Boerewors6 bread rollsbutter (optional)

100 g feta cheese, crumbled

Preparation method

Heattheoilinasaucepanandfrytheonionsandgreen peppersuntilsoftAddthegratedcarrotsandsautéfora further 10 minutes, or until softened Add the Robertsons Braai & Grill Spicy BBQ and stir for 1 minute.In a small bowl, make a smooth mixture of the Knorr Chakalaka Soup and water, and add this to the saucepan. Stir well and simmer over a medium low heat for 15 20 minutes, or until the chakalaka reaches the desired consistencyBraai the boerewors over low to medium coals until cooked through, taking care not toburnitontheoutside Removefromthegridandcut into portionsSlice the rolls lengthways, and butter them (optional). Place a boerewors piece in each roll and top with the chakalaka and crumbled feta.Serve hot.
