Call in the specialists Task-specific cleaning products can make light work of tricky tasks that other tools can’t easily handle. These may be as simple as a glass and stainless steel microfibre cloth, which gives a streak-free finish, or a wool duster, which is soft enough to use on very delicate surfaces (and can be washed when it starts to look grimy). Grubby grout is the bane of a houseproud homebody. “Back in the day, you were literally on hands and knees with a scrubbing brush or a toothbrush to clean in between tiles,” says Laura Keogh. “But now we’ve got a hand-held grout brush, which has evolved into a long-handled brush.” bunnings.com.au |

Spiders winning the battle for wall space at your house? Cobweb brooms combine a domed, curved or angled head with an extension handle so you can get into tricky corners while keeping both feet on the ground. For outside the house, an aqua broom is a nifty device that attaches to a hose and is perfect for cleaning cars, boats and caravans with far less fuss. “Because we’re constantly entertaining outside now, we’ve become more conscious of cleaning and keeping that area beautified,” says Laura.
