Artist Statement: My journey as an artist started at a very young age. As a kid I use to draw whatever that captured my eye. Color has always intrigued me and art has been my passion then and it remains my passion now. However, becoming a professional artist came into play in the recent years. I’ve been an Accountant by profession and have been painting alongside for awhile but took up art full time during the recent years. Giving up a career for more that 10+ years and stepping into something that my heart desires is challenging but also invigorating. Reflecting upon my art, I can truly say that it has evolved from where I was to where I am now. Starting from still life drawing and moving into abstract has been transforming. Expressing myself through color, different mediums and textures allows me to engage with my surroundings and inner emotions. The medium that I mostly use is oils as I love the movement and the blending of color. I also like to use different textures to add depth to most of my work. Buki – Is the name that I sign my artwork with. As it has been my fathers passion for me to become an artist one day. This is my way of expressing my love on a blank canvas.

“As I engage in my surroundings and ambience, I allow myself to be present in all of my artwork. Each piece reflects my emotions, my mood and has a very special part of me” - Buki
