Was it "Cuffworn," was it "Collar," was it "Popcorn," rvas it "Dollar?" On the telephone it was just plain consternation, so-Floyd Yates and Jack Pollard rvho have been operating as Ruffcorn-Pollard, Inc., have announced their new narne "Southwest Plywood Corp."
When this firm began business a few years ago, they limited their activities to the distribution of Douglas Fir Plywcod and I'hilippine Mahogany Plywood. They quickly realized there rvas a real need in the building industry for a more complete line and as soon as was possible they added l'hilippine Mahogany lumber, mouldings for trim, flush doors and T&G Tropicwall. The trade's response was imnrediate.
It requires only a short conversation tvith these men to <lctermine that they are most enthusiastic about the products they handle. A new warehouse just completed permits a larger, more diversified inventory which, it is hoped, rvill alleviate to some extent the maddenir-rg shortages of ' the past.
Jack Pollard considers hirnself practically a native son, having been in Los Angeles since 1929. Yates is from Seattle where he was associated for many years with one of the larger plyrvood mills. He likes this California sunshine and feels firmly embedded in Los Angeles.
Southwest Plywood Corp. wishes its friends to know that only the name is changed-that ownership, management, personnel and a genuine desire to be of service remain the same.
