St. Regis Paper's new building materials distribution yard near Marysville, Washington, hosted some 700 guests recently to mark its official opening.

The million dollar operation is located on 3O-acres north of Everett.

In full production, the yard will have between 80 and 100 employees generating a new payroll for the area of over $600,000 annually.

St. Regis operates two other similar yards in the Puget Sound Basin. One at Issaquah is three years old. The other yard, at Tacoma, has been in continuous operation since before l9@.

The Marysville yard has 80,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space including facilities to manufacture pre-engineered parts, Henry Hewitt, Jr., who oversees the three yards,

Contractors in the Pacific Northwest are rapidly moving toward the use of building components. Roof trusses, prehung doors and panelized walls are more often being made under factory specifications and trucked to construction sites where carpenters quickly assemble them.

Hewitt said the St. Regis distribution yards are the largest producers of components in the Pacific Northwest. The building components are an ,important part of their bus iness. company believes it is the world's largest roof truss manulacturer.

The Marysville yard also has a pre-cutting department. The yard can cut lumber for contractors with such accuracy, Hewitt said, that carpenters seldom if ever need to use saws on the construction site.
