BEAUT|FUL "Sierra" is the old Spanish word for sawtooth. Appropriately it brands a family of Simpson redwood products saw-textured and factory prefinished in stain colors reflecting the natural rugged beauty of the country inspiring its name. "Sierra Decking" is a versatile, economical new roof decking and porch decking rough-sawn from air-seasoned Merchantable Grade California redwood. The two-inch thick planks (with or without T&G) expose a textured face completely prefinished in russet brown, silver gray, soft green or in the natural redwood protected with a clear water repellent. Also available untreated, "Sierra Decking" can be left to weather naturally to the silvery gray so distinctive of redwood.

NATU RAL ADVANTAG ES "SieTTa Decking" contains a combination of all heart and sapwood stock. The all heart pieces contain nature's own protective extractives which give redwood its unique resistance to decay and insects. All heart pieces should be selected to go in the ground where exposure to soil and moisture conditions are a factor.

AD DED ADVANTAG ES "Sierra Decking" which is prefinished in stains or water repellent has Simpson's special water repellent preservative applied to the back to prevent capillary penetration or "wicking" of water through the ioints. lt further protects the product during shipping, storage and application.

EASY TO INSTALL Either surface of "Sierra Decking" may be used-the sawtextured and V-grooved face or the smooth-surfaced back. For exposed beam construction the prefinished face requires no further treatment. Untreated "Sierra Decking" can be easily stained to match any color scheme, or it can be left to weather naturally.

VERSATILE "Siena Decking" has many uses in interior and exterior applications. Outside, redwood's weatherability and dimensional stability make "Sierra Decking" ideal for roof decks, retaining walls, rustic siding, garden planters and shelters, playhouses, boathouses, garages, carports and other applications subject to the elemdnts. Inside, "Sierra Decking" does double duty as a rustic ceiling, flooring, sub-roofing, exposed sub-flooring or other exposed beam construction installations. "Sierra Decking" finds many time and cost-saving applications in vacation homes and cabins.

EASY MAINTENANCE Prefinished "Sierra Decking" requires only an occasional application of stain or clear water repellent to maintain its attractiveness. Untreated "Sierra Decking" can be left to weather naturally.

ECO NOMICAL In addition to the money-saving factors of versatility and durability "Sierra Decking" is economical to purchase. lt is made from Merchantable Grade redwood air-seasoned eight months or longer.
