Are You On OSHA's Hit List?
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration's 2000 Hit List has been released, the first to include lumberyards.

The list, available online at www.osha.gov, contains information obtained from businesses during OSHA's annually required survey of injury incidents during 1998.
Survey recipients are chosen at random by OSHA, according to Regulatory Consultants, Inc. The Lawrence, Ks.-based firm said that businesses with incident levels of eight per 100 employees or greater made the list, while those that reported l4 incidents per 100 employees most likely will be visited by OSHA before Feb. 1,2001.
RCI said that firms not on the list could still be inspected by OSHA, particularly if their industry has a high incident rate.
Woodland Products Fire

The blaze at the Pomona. Ca.. plant destroyed the packaging and shipping departments, including work in progress and completed goods. Due to the plant layout, the milling machinery, manufacturing, finishing and raw materials departments were saved.
The fire is believed to have started in electrical wiring in the ceiling of one of the shipping warehouses.
The shelving and wood specialties firm was back in business two days after the fire. "We're wounded, but not fatally," said Robertson. "Our customers understand our problem and are working with us during this temporary period."
Robertson founded the company in 1959.
