'^ meeting in Napa, Jim Webber, manager of Hublbard & Johnson Lumber Co. Mountain View operation, was elected president of the Lumber Merchants Association of Northern California to serre for the 7972-73 tarm.

Webber has been active in the association's activities for many years. He has served on the executive committee, board of directors, insurance committeg membership committee, planning committee, and has a broad background in the association's activities.***

Jim began his career in the lumber industry in 1945 after a tour with the U. S. Navy. His initia,tirn to the industry was as a yardman and driver. He has held almost every job in the lumber yard and is well acquainted with all phases of the operation.

He has been employed by Hubbard & Johnson Lumber Compa.ny since 1945 and has been manager of their Mountain View operation for the past twelve years. **

Equally enthusiastic in his involvement in community affairs, he has been active in the Sunnyvale Elks, progressing through all chairs to become the Exalted Ruler in 196& 1967, and a member of their board of trustees in 1969-19?1. Jim is also a Century Club Memher of the YMCA.

With his wife Jo, he has resided in Santa Clara for the past fourteen years and has four children: Steve 22, Patti 17, Linda 15, and Kim 11.

In a major action, the NFPA board accepted North Amerioan Wholesale Lumber Association for membership in the NFPA federation.

Among a nurnber of resolutions, adopted by NFPA's Board of Directors, was one recommending that "establishment of forestry practiceg in some form on a state by state basis, be attempted and supported by the forest industry as soon as poesible.
