olf course designers and superintendents prefer wood because ofits versatility. It is strong, durable, easy to work with and blends comfortably into any environment.
"We've learned the value of using properly treated wood for a wide variety of key functions and decorations." says Manny Sousa, Course Superintendent at the famous Robert Trent Jones Il-designed NCGA Poppy Hills course in Pebble Beach, California. "In addition to obvious uses like bridges, retaining walls, tee boxes, foundations and accesses to elevated greens and tees, we also use treated wood in places that most golfers don't even notice - like behind the scenes in our maintenance yard. Treated wood divides our storage of sand, gravel, rock and planting materials." And, while some courses just use treated poles to support driving range ner ting, "our architect incorporated large poles to suppofi the wraparound clubhouse deck." tt We've learned the value of using properly treated wood for a wide variety of key functions and decorations."
