Gapital Lumber Expansion Completed

Capital Lumber Company has completed a major expansion of its three year old redwood, cedar and fir finish manufacturing facilities at Healdsburg, Ca.

An additional seven acres adjacent to the original 10 acres has been developed. Five acres of the new land acquisition are asphalt paved. A fully enclosed 30,000 sq. ft. warehouse has been erected on the new site.

Additional milling equipment installed includes a horizontal resaw in line with the existing planer, a gang trimmer in line with the present moulder, an additional 48" resaw and an in line automatic bundling system.

"The additional in line trimmer provides capacity to trim all lumber going through our machine centers. The horizontal resaw increases our ability to meet increasing market demands for bevel siding and resaw texture boards. The additional48" resaw doubles our resaw capabilities, and the in line automatic bundler improves our ability to ofler bundledpackaged upper grades of redwood, cedar, and fir finish specialties," John Gaskin, president, said.

In addition to the manufacturing operations'at Healdsburg, Capital Lumber, headquartered at Phoenix, Az., maintains six distribution centers serving Northern California, Southern California, Arizona, New Mexico, West Texas and Colorado.

"The Healdsburg expansion significantly increases our capabilities and shortens our response time for more highly specialized redwood, cedar, and fir finish products," Gaskin added.
