Florida Lumber & Bulldlng Meterial Dealers Assoclrtlon nominating committee has submitted a 1990-91 board of directors slate for election Sept. 22 during the annual convention at the Marriott Orlando World Center.

Blythe, Coastal Lumber Co., and Paul Dickert, Perry Lumber Co., associate directors.
The board ofdirectors authorized the purchase of 3.5 acres in Mt. Dora, Fl., for a new association headquarters. Groundbreaking will take place following the sale of the present location.
FLBMDA is joining the Michigan Lumber and Building Materials Association for a winter seminar, March l-8, 1991, at Marriott's Castle Harbour resort in Bermuda.
Carolinas/Tennessee Building Material Association, Inc. is sponsoring Department of Transportation seminars on Sept. 20 at the Holiday Inn, Charlotte, N.C., and Sept. 26 at the Garden Plaza Hotel, Murfreesboro, Tn.
Wilson W. Gregory, a trucking industry consultant, will lead both sessions. Stressing the importance of members complying with the new l)OT regulations. the association also has available a notebook designed by the lluilding Material Merchants Association (Georgia/ Alabama) especially for the building material retailer. choice. The association oflers further help from a l)OT consultant who will come to a store's location to check on compliance and help with the setting up of a system to satisfy the regulations. lle also will prepare drivers lor the comnrercial drivers license test.

Kentucky Lumber and Bullding Mrterial Dealers Association is making preliminary plans for the Jan. 23-24, 1991, convention at the Hyatt Regency in Louisville.
Al Walker will present a seminar on employee relations. Variable pricing, competing with chains, the spotted owl problem, timber supply and new trucking regulations are other topics under consideration.

The pressure of adequate timber supply will be the number one priority for producers for the next several years even though they will not be called upon to manufacture at the levels seen for the past few years,
In addition, H. M. "Pete" Niebling, president of Woodnet, a marketing group for eight building product distributors, forecasts that wholesale distribution yards will be required to increase their sales margins to meet the needs of their custo- mers in delivery of product, education and sales assistance.
The retail dealer is finding out that his costs of inventory and customer services have escalated and will continue to increase. To remain profitable, he will need to look to his supplier for better services and more help in the movement of product.
All levels of our industry will have to find new opportunities and deal with new people and new markets at a reduced level of sales volume. Niebling concludes.
