Oklahoma Lumbermen's Association welcomed new exec. v.p. Sharilyn Young during its 50th anniversary convention March l5-17 in Oklahoma City. John Branscum resigned after nine years as exec. v.p. to start his own business.
Kentucky Lumber & Building Material Dealers Association elected new officers during its 9lst annual convention Feb. 5-6 in Owensboro. New pres. is Bruce Humphrey, Quinn Lumber Co., Sturgis, succeeding Gerald "Scotty" Scott, Fugate Lumber Co., Madisonville, now chairman of the board. Mid-America Lumbermens Association board of directors approved two bylaw revisions that grant full voting rights to all associate members for the first time in the group's 1O8-year history. Six years ago, suppliers, wholesalers and service firms became eligible to serve on the board but without a vote.
During the recent Expo '96, MLA president Harold Baalmann presented President's Awards to John Mize, BlishMize Co., in recognition of their 125th year in business, and to St. Joseph Truss Co.. celebrating their 20th anniversary.
In recognition of his retirement from the industry, Frank Healy, Delden Manufacturing, received a certificate of appreciation. Exhibitor International Paper Co. was honored for best use of the show's westem theme. Bildcrete By Western Bag Products won Best Traffic Buildine Promotion.
