Jack Cox Sr., founder and chairman of the board of llreckenridge Lumber Co,, Breckenridge, Tx., died Jan. 7, 1990, in Breckenridge. lle was 65.

llorn in (ireenville, Tx., he started the company in 1956.

Mr. Cox is survived by his widow, Barbara. his mother. one son. two daughters, one brother, and nine grandchildren.

Memphle Club Honors Klrk

Harry B. Kirk, senior member of the Lumbermen's Club of Memphis, was honored with Harry B. Kirk Day during the club's luncheon meeting at the Racquet Club of Memphis Feb. 8.

The 1990 National Home Center Show, slated for Chicago's McCormick Place Convention Complex, March I I - 13, will be the largest home improvement products expo to date. Retailers and distributors will be able to request UPCA bar codes on moulding if Wood Moulding & Millwork Producers Association members accept the bar coding committee recommendation to adopt the National F'orest Products Association's bar coding guidelines.

UPCA bar code symbols on the back of each piece of moulding and bar code 128, which includes a UPCA bar code identification, on packaging will be available. Charges been in the hardwood industry for 7 | years and is the only known member to have filled the olTices of first vice president and president in the same year (1961). for these will be determined by the supplier.

Denny & Lee Start New Chaln

Builders Express is a new home center chain being formed by Frank Denny and Sean Lee in San Antonio, Tx.

Corporate headquarters are open with a public offering of stock due this month. "Plans are close to completion," said Lee who will be president. "We are pleased with our progress. " hand for an estimated 35,000 attendees to review.

The executive board, which includes many veteran home center executives, is interviewing vendors, pulling together a budget and considering sites in preparation for opening the first 60,000 sq. ft. units in July, according to Lee. Sites will be selected in mid-population areas of 150,000 to 175,000 people.

Management includes Denny, chairman of the board, Jud Walford, coo, Larry Strauss, merchandise manager/hardlines, Bob Sanderson, merchandise manager/building materials, and Jerry Jorgenson, cfo.

New to this year's show as well is the color-coded exhibit floor format.

Admission to the show is free to home improvement industry members and includes admittance to the exhibit halls and professional education programs. The new hours are l0 a.m.5 p.m. Sunday, March ll and 9 a.m.5 p.m. Monday and Tues.
