BIRMINGHAM-BASED groundworking and civil engineering contractor McCoy Contractors has won a clutch of groundworks contracts worth £1.5 million with two new projects in the Midlands. The Solihull contractor has broken ground on the new Allen Ford car dealership in Nuneaton with contractor MCS Group; and has started groundworks for a major new Premier Inn Hotel in Milton Keynes with Bowmer & Kirkland. Initial groundworks are underway on both sites with earthworks, muck shift and foundations carried out by the team at McCoy. Chris Haughey, Operations Manager at McCoy Contractors and founder of CJ Haughey Construction, once tipped as one of the fastest growing specialist subcontractors in the UK, said: “McCoy Contractors was only formed a few months ago, so it’s fantastic to have these high-profile projects underway. These are two significant contract wins and we look forward to working with the contractors to deliver these buildings.” McCoy Contractors offers the complete groundworks package to clients across commercial, industrial, housing, highways, education, health, retail and leisure sectors - including bulk earthworks, foundations and drainage on a full labour, plant and materials basis. When completed in 2017, the all-new showroom in Nuneaton will be one of 19 dealerships for Allen Ford; while the new 130-room Premier Inn Milton Keynes will be the centrepiece of a £20 million theatre district development.
