Message from Athletic Director Allen Greene The University at Buffalo Department of Athletics has made tremendous strides over the last several years working to build New York’s Public Powerhouse. This progress and our path to success is outlined in our departmental strategic plan. This document helps focus our efforts on a common goal and remind us of our core values. As our mission suggests, we are committed to academic and athletic excellence as we strive to win championships with integrity and accountability. While this commitment to student-athletes will remain consistent, our strategic plan, however, will evolve to allow flexibility in our execution. We have made a conscious effort to make this a “living” document with frequent input and feedback from our coaches and staff. We have an aggressive vision for the future of this department and have achieved many milestones already, but there is still much work to be done. As an AAU institution, and the largest, most comprehensive public university in the state of New York, we want to strengthen UB’s national profile and establish ourselves as New York’s Public Powerhouse. UB Athletics may have more potential than any athletic department in the country because of our strong institutional profile, enormous alumni base, and local population. We are starting to see this potential being realized and are confident that this momentum will continue given the “buy-in” and support from our community and alumni base. This plan for success is thorough, aggressive, and very much attainable. All of our coaches and staff were involved in building this document, and it is their hard work and commitment that will make it come to life. Compliance The University at Buffalo is committed and obligated to the principle of institutional control while operating an athletics program in a manner that is consistent with the letter and the spirit of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Mid-American Conference (MAC) and University rules and regulations. The University’s commitment is to maintain control of its athletics programs through the responsible administrators, faculty, and institutional bodies; to educate coaches, staff, student-athletes and other individuals involved with the athletics program; to develop operating systems within the division of athletics and the University that provide guidance in how to work within the rules; and to discover and report any violations of the rules that occur.
