The University at Buffalo women’s basketball team was unable to hold on to on to an early 10-point lead, falling to Binghamton, 65-60. The Bulls jumped out to a 17-7 lead with 12:18 left in the opening half on a jumper from freshman Rachael Gregory. However, Binghamton answered with a 13-3 run, tying the game up at 20-20 with 6:39 left. The game remained tied at 26-26 when Binghamton hit a layup with 1:09 left to take a lead into the half. UB went back up early in the second half on another jumper from Gregory, but a an 8-1 Binghamton run put it up for good. The Bearcats led by as many as six with 6:15 left, but the Bulls scored five straight points, capped off on a three from Margeaux Gupilan to pull Buffalo within one at 5150. However, Binghamton answered with five straight of its own to go back up by six. The Bulls pulled back within one on two more occasions, but couldn’t break through either time as Binghamton hit seven of its eight free throws late. Gupilan finished with her careerbest 20 points. Gupilan went 6-for-8 from the field and 4-for-5 from three-point range, while hitting all four of her free throws. Defensively, Gupilan finished with seven steals. Sophomore Christa Baccas recorded her second double-double of the season as she finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Gregory reached double figures for her fifth consecutive game, finishing with 11 points

The University at Buffalo women’s basketball team used balanced scoring to snap a seven-game losing streak and give the Bulls their eighth straight victory over Niagara, defeating the Purple Eagles, 65-51. he Bulls finished the game with four players in double figures, led by 17 points from freshman Mackenzie Loesing. The Purple Eagles hit the first basket of the game, but it would be the last time that they would lead as Buffalo responded with a 15-2 run, capped off on a three pointer from junior Margeaux Gupilan. The first 10 minutes of the second half belonged all to the Bulls, who managed to stretch their lead to 22, their largest lead of the season. The Bulls had four players in double figures led by the 17 points from Loesing, who filled the stat sheet with eight rebounds, three assists and six steals. Gupilan finished today’s contest with 14 points, four rebounds and four steals. Rachael Gregory added 13 points and eight rebounds for her sixth straight game in double figures, while Cherridy Thornton added 11 points and eight rebounds off the bench. Redshirt sophomore Kristen Sharkey had another strong game against a Big 4 opponent as she finished with eight points, a game-high 10 rebounds, two blocks, an assist and a steal.

Despite shooting a season-high 77 points, the University at Buffalo women’s basketball team fell to Pittsburgh, 91-77. The Panthers shot 60.3% for the contest, while the Bulls shot a season-best 46.2%. For the second straight game, Buffalo received balanced scoring led by a career-high 18 points from redshirt junior Cherridy Thornton. The first media time out saw the teams tied at 8-8, but Pittsburgh went on a 25-9 run to take a 33-17 lead with 6:30 left in the opening half. However, the Bulls hung tough and answered each Pittsburgh run, using a quick 8-2 run to pull within 10. The Panthers took a 44-31 lead into the half. Pittsburgh increased its lead to 49-31 early in the second half, but Buffalo went on a 9-0 run capped off on a layup by sophomore Christa Baccas to pull within 49-40. The Panthers regained a 13-point advantage at 56-43, but an 11-3 UB run pulled the Bulls within five at 59-54. That score remained for nearly three minutes as Buffalo missed six straight free throws in that time period before Pitt answered with a quick 6-0 run. The Bulls never got closer than nine from the remainder of the game. Thronton finished with 18 points and six rebounds in 29 minutes of action. Mackenzie Loesing added 16 points before fouling out and played just 22 minutes. Baccas just missed a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds. She added two assists, two blocks and three steals.
