The 2001 Bucknell women’s soccer team defeated American and Navy on its way to winning the Patriot League Championship and earning a berth in the NCAA Tournament. The third-seeded Bison downed the top-seeded Mids 2-1 in overtime to claim its first-ever Patriot League title. Lauren Schwarz scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick 3:07 into overtime. Bucknell fell to seventh-ranked Penn State 3-1 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Bison finished the season with a 12-7-0 record and were led in scoring by Savannah Rennels, who tallied 12 goals and one assist. She and Lindsay Slomer were named to the All-Patriot League First Team. Tara Utchel landed a spot on the all-league second team, while freshman Ashley Dincher garnered Patriot League Co-Rookie of the Year honors. Chrissy Findlay was named Coach of the Year.
In 2005, the Bucknell women’s soccer team upset Lehigh and Army to become the first No. 4 seed in Patriot League history to win the postseason tournament. The Bison downed the Black Knights by a 3-1 margin in the championship game after advancing past No. 1 seed Lehigh in the semifinal round with a thrilling 6-5 decision in penalty kicks after playing to a 1-1 draw with the Mountain Hawks. Shannon Curd was named Patriot League Tournament MVP . Bucknell faced Penn State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament and fell by the score of 6-0. The Bison ended 2005 with a record of 11-9-1, 4-3-0 in the Patriot League. Jennifer Margolis led the team in scoring with 13 goals and three assists for 29 points. Margolis represented the Orange and Blue on the All-Patriot League First Team while Krista Lee Gentile was named to the all-league second team.

TOPS IN SALARY POTENTIAL
According to a Bucknell Career Development Center survey of the Class of 2012, 97 percent of the respondents were either employed or attending graduate school six months after graduation. Of Bucknell’s 882 graduates in that class, 871 (99 percent) responded to the survey. Of that portion of the class, 76 percent were employed, 16 percent were enrolled in graduate school, two percent were both employed and in graduate school part-time, and three percent were still seeking employment. Of those attending graduate school, 17 percent are pursuing degrees in social sciences and the humanities, 16 percent are in medical school, 16 percent are studying engineering, 12 percent are in law school, 12 percent are seeking advanced degrees in science, and the remaining 27 percent are continuing their studies in areas such as business and education. The mean salary for the 2012 graduates responding to the survey was $48,556 and was highest for engineers. The mean salary for a graduate with a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering was $75,500, and the mean salary for a graduate with a bachelor of science degree in business administration/accounting was $57,067. Graduates from the College of Arts and Sciences had a mean salary of $42,788. Most 2012 graduates (79 percent) were employed in the Northeast, with Pennsylvania (23 percent), New York City (17 percent) and New Jersey (14 percent) leading the way. Among the most popular employers of Bucknell graduates were firms such as Accenture, AmeriCorps, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, KPMG, Merck & Company, Inc., PricewaterhouseCoopers, Teach for America, Turner Construction, UBS and U.S. Army. Many of the class respondents secured employment through Bucknell on-campus interviews, Career Development Center leads, networking or offers from former employees.

Bucknell University alumni ranked No. 4 among liberal arts college graduates and among the highest for all colleges and universities in a 2011 PayScale College Salary Report released this summer. The annual survey, which launched in 2008, assesses median starting and mid-career salaries among graduates of top U.S. liberal arts colleges. This year, alumni from 1,003 schools participated. In this year’s report, Bucknell alumni had a median starting salary of $52,600 and a median mid-career salary of $108,000. The salary report also ranked Bucknell as 14th among all “top U.S. colleges,” including Ivy League and state universities, for mid-career earning potential. Bucknell alumni historically have had high job placement rates in their first year after graduation. Nine months after graduation, for instance, 84 percent of the members of the Class of 2010 were either employed or enrolled in graduate or professional school, according to Bucknell’s Career Development Center. A small percentage opted to travel, volunteer or do a combination of both. National Reputation A number of recent reports have served to underscore Bucknell’s national reputation: • In 2007, The Washington Monthly ranked Bucknell No. 7 among the best liberal arts colleges in the country when it comes to fostering research and promoting an ethic of service and social mobility. • In 2010, the Peace Corps listed Bucknell at No. 6 on its top 25 list of small colleges and universities producing Peace Corps Volunteers. • In February 2010, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine rated Bucknell as the 11th best value in private liberal arts colleges.
