Cross Country Course, Bucknell Golf Club The Bucknell cross country teams run on the challenging, scenic course of the Bucknell Golf Club. The men’s course measures 8,000 meters, and the women’s 6,000. Bucknell has hosted the Patriot League Cross Country Championships twice, and the course has also been the site of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) State Championships. Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium
Gerhard Fieldhouse serves as Bucknell’s indoor track and field facility. Renovated in 1995 and in the summer of 2008, the Bison boast one of the finest indoor tracks in the East. The facility has attracted several outstanding teams to Lewisburg, and has played host to the Patriot League Championships four times. The main floor of the fieldhouse includes a 200-meter track; courts for basketball, tennis and volleyball; and facilities for field events. The two-and-one-half acre building also includes five racquetball/ handball courts, five squash courts, an erg room, a climbing wall, a dance studio and aerobics room, a wrestling room, locker rooms, a classroom, offices, two lounges and the Bucknell Athletics Hall of Fame.
Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium, Bucknell’s outdoor facility, has been almost completely refurbished in the last 20 years. In 1988, the horseshoe edifice was totally resurfaced and new seating was added. New concession stands, restrooms, ticket booths and souvenir stands were added a year later, along with an eight-lane, all-weather track. The most recent upgrades include new lights, which feature a nearly 10-fold increase in candle power, and a new FieldTurf playing surface. Encircling the football field is an eightlane Rekortan Track, originally laid in 1989 and replaced in 2002 and 2012.
