Mandy Olley
Assistant Coach Third Year at Bucknell Old Dominion ’02 Mandy Olley, a 2002 graduate of Old Dominion University, is beginning her third season with Bucknell after spending two years as an assistant coach at nearby Susquehanna University. As a member of the Bucknell coaching staff, Olley has number of duties, including working with the Bison guards and arranging the travel itinerary for the team. While at Susquehanna, Olley assisted with several aspects of the Crusaders’ basketball program on and off the court. On the sidelines, she aided with The Mandy Olley File practice planning, skill development and tape breakdown, among other duties. Year at Bucknell: 3rd Olley’s first recruiting class included Susquehanna’s leaders in scoring, assists Career Year: 5th and steals in 2007-08. Hometown: Lafayette Hill, Pa. When not in the gym, the Lafayette Hill, Pa., native assisted with recruitFamily: Single ment, fundraising and creating programs that allowed the team to reach out to the local community. Olley also organized a number of community events Education including the university’s first Think Pink Day for breast cancer awareness, a B.A., Education, Old Dominion University, 2002 high school shootout involving more than 100 high school teams and the “lil” Crusader Club for local youth. She was also involved in the Susquehanna Valley Coaching Experience Basketball Camp for two years. 2006-08: Susquehanna University (Assistant Coach) Prior to her time at Susquehanna, Olley spent several years coaching at the 2008-pres.: Bucknell (Assistant Coach) high school level. While teaching special education at Chesapeake Public Schools, she served as the varsity coach for two years at Deep Creek High School in Chesapeake, Va. Olley also enjoyed a brief tenure as the co-head coach at Cape Henry High School in Virginia Beach, Va., from 2002 to 2003 and volunteered as an assistant at Greenbrier Middle School in Chesapeake, Va., the previous year. While in the area, Olley also spent six years involved with the Virginia Beach Basketball Camp. During her playing career at Old Dominion, Olley completed her bachelor’s degree in education with a minor in special education. The two-time co-captain and AAU AllAmerican helped lead the Monarchs to four conference championships and four NCAA Tournament appearances from 1998-2002. Olley was also a Student-Athlete Mentor during that time.
