Dear Friend of BSNBCS: On behalf of the Board of Trustees of the Bedford Stuyvesant New Beginnings Charter School, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for your presence here tonight at our Vision Fund Launch Gala. Your attendance and support of the General Fund will make a significant difference as we launch a new phase in BSNBCS’ history and work to both continue our efforts to provide a quality education to all our K-8 scholars and to expand that to a new universe of scholars as we prepare to open our new High School. Your gift to the General Fund will allow BSNBCS to continue its innovative and rigorous programming, as well as to ensure the continuance of our experiential learning and enrichment programs, our arts and athletic programs, and technology investments that provide access and opportunities to our scholars to keep up in a digital age. Whether by participating in student governance, being a part of our televised in-school news program, attending leadership conferences for boys and girls, or going to places like Alaska, Mississippi, San Diego, or Washington DC to learn about civil rights and becoming self-dependent, our scholars benefit greatly from programing beyond “reading, writing and arithmetic”. We are also truly proud that our scholars have performed at the highest levels on recent state tests, outperforming most public and public charter schools at the District, City and State levels. Your support is invaluable to those efforts. Thank you, once again, for being a vital part of our BSNBCS family. Together, we can continue to make a difference. Please have an enjoyable evening! Regards, Victor Rivera Jr. Chair, Board of Trustees

Dear Friends and Supporters, On behalf of the students, families, staff and school community of Bedford Stuyvesant New Beginnings Charter School, thank you for attending this evening of celebration. Starting in 2010 as just a simple idea, a great community school for Bedford Stuyvesant was founded. We are humbled by the trust our families have put into our organization. In 2023, there is much to celebrate. We have been granted a full five year renewal by our authorizer and permission to expand the school to serve high school grades, as well as the recent approval of BSNBCS2, allowing us to serve even more students. Our students learn in welcoming classrooms and have access to great teachers, technology and effective curriculum to support all of their learning needs. As we grow and mature, we will celebrate additional milestones, including our growing experiential learning programs, overseas studies programs and internships, externships and work based learning leading to our first high school graduates in 2028. Bed Stuy is a special community and we are proud to serve it. Thank you for being a part of this celebration tonight and I hope you visit us soon to see our work in person. Best, Nicholas Tishuk Executive Director

Dear Friends, It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Bedford Stuyvesant New Beginnings Charter School Fundraising Gala. As Chief Academic Officer, it is my honor to thank everyone for their support of our learning community. Our school has seen tremendous growth and success over the past year. Our talented students continue to thrive academically, artistically, and athletically. Behind all of these achievements are our devoted faculty and staff, parents, and community partners like you. Thanks to your generosity, we have been able to expand our arts curriculum, upgrade technology in the classrooms, offer more enrichment partnership, and keep class sizes small. We could not do this important work without you. Tonight, we come together to celebrate our scholars and raise critical funds to support them on the path to high school and college. I hope you will open both your hearts and wallets to help make this school year our most successful yet. Enjoy this evening of entertainment, food, and camaraderie. I am grateful for your belief in our mission. Here's to an incredible night! Sincerely, Patience Brown Chief Academic Officer Bedford Stuyvesant New Beginnings Charter School

OUR STORY Founded in 2010 with 200 students in grades K-3, BSNBCS has consistently provided well rounded, inclusive education to children from low-income families, who are English language learners, and who have special education needs. BSNBCS will continue this mission and open its high school in the 2024-25 school year that will foster critical thinking, creativity, and purposeful learning that will connect students and their families to businesses and nonprofits that will support this community’s growth from within.

OUR MISSION At BSNBCS, families, educators and community members will join together to create a supportive and rigorous academic environment for all students. Through the pursuit of traditional coursework, project based, experiential and service learning, students will be prepared to succeed in higher education, careers and become responsible citizens of the global community.

MILESTONES IN BSNBCS HISTORY

OUR VISION FOR THE FUTURE We are expanding our program to better serve our school community. Several K-8 charter schools serve central Brooklyn, but few offer high school grades. The model we propose is unique in that it will integrate opportunities for meaningful learning experiences in partnership with businesses and nonprofits who provide vital services to our community. BSNBCS high schoolers will serve their community through projects that will demand critical thinking and creative problem-solving, while preparing them for the collaborative and cross-disciplinary work that is characteristic of tomorrow’s economy. When they graduate, our students will not only be ready to succeed in college and careers, but they will also have explored their interests and beable to make informed decisions regarding the best path for them to achieve their plan to be happy and impactful members of their community.
