Brunswick Senior Resources Inc. welcomes Angelique Carlson as director of the new Brunswick Center at Calabash, which will open soon. Carlson works with seniors 55 and older to connect through fitness, social, and educational opportunities. Carlson believes that creating an inclusive center where members have access to vital community services can help members remain healthy and independent. Carlson previously worked at Pretty In Pink Foundation, where she assisted breast cancer

survivors with appropriate resources and partnered with local and national agencies to secure vital funding for survivors’ medical needs. “I’m most proud of my work in creating the Senior Resiliency Project in Indianapolis,” Carlson said. There she secured funding through grants, donations, and in-kind donations to help senior neighbors create community disaster plans. More than 2500 seniors who attended the programs reported an increased sense of safety. Many formed new friendships and became active in their neighborhood.

Brunswick Senior Resources Inc. has added Holley Norris as assistant director at the soon-to-open Brunswick Center at Calabash. “While I was born and raised in Whiteville, Brunswick County has always been the place I call home,” Norris said.

Carlson has been awarded the Volunteer Innovator Partnership Award from the United Way, and is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Louisville. She looks forward to meeting all the BSRI participants in Calabash.
