runswick Electric Membership Corporation (BEMC) has awarded more than $31,500 in Bright Ideas education grants to 29 local teachers to fund engaging classroom learning projects. More than 7,300 students at schools in Brunswick and Columbus counties will participate in projects funded by BEMC this year. Now in its 25th year, the program has contributed nearly $800,000 to area teachers. “Educators who win Bright Ideas grants go above and beyond for their students,” said Josh Winslow, CEO. “We’re excited to support their innovative and creative learning initiatives through the Bright Ideas program each year.” Grant applications are collected each year through mid-September, and winning proposals are selected by a panel of judges. Artisans & Brunswick Little Theater Collaboration

T

he Artisans are going to “decorate the halls” of Brunswick Little Theater for their 2020 presentation of Emily Dickinson’s “Belle of Amherst”, directed by Ken Greenman. Based on the life of poet Emily Dickinson from 1830 to 1886, and set in her Amherst, Massachusetts home, the 1976 play makes use of her work, diaries, and letters to recollect her encounters with the significant people in her life – family, close friends, and acquaintances. It balances the agony of her seclusion with the brief bright moments when she was able to experience some joy. Please save the dates, buy a ticket, and support both the Artisans and Brunswick Little Theater.

15% of sales will go directly to Brunswick Little Theater.
