The Brown County Fair Association announced Wednesday that Jerry Pittman will be this year’s Rodeo Parade Grand Marshal. Pittman’s involvement with the Brown County Youth Fair and Fair Association spans the decades beginning in the 1950’s when he showed animals in the fair. In 1980, he began serving in many capacities including working in the concession stand during Youth Fair and serving on the Fair Association Board, being elected president in 1995 and 1996. Jerry Pittman was born and raised in Brown County and is the son of the late R.V. and Alene Pittman of Owens, Texas. They also have two grandsons, Derrick Stephenson and fiancé Melissa Sellards, and Cooper Stephenson and wife Vicki of
Ft. Worth. The Pittmans have four great grandsons, Chayden and Cutter Stephenson of Abilene, and Dylan and Rylan Stephenson of Ft. Worth with another baby on the way. Jerry attended Owens school and graduated from May High School in 1958. He then continued his education at Howard Payne College. After 27 years, Jerry retired in 1988 from West Texas Printing Company then retired again in 2005 after
17 years with the 3M Company. Pittman is a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. The 49th Annual Brown County Rodeo Parade will take place on Saturday, June 9th at 10am in Downtown Brownwood.
