Brookwood School District 167 2020-2021 School Year At the Board of Education Meeting on 8/10/20, the School Board approved our reopening plan that will include the following:

Full Remote Learning for the First Quarter of the School Year --(revisited towards the end of the quarter for continuation/extension or to implement a plan to return students back to school safely i.e. hybrid model/blended model, full inperson instruction. A Remote Learning Advisory Committee will meet weekly to monitor the implementation of this model, i.e. student engagement, consistency in instructional practices across the district, communications, transitional planning for returning students back to school, outreach services, SEL supports, etc.)

School Remote Learning Space Options for Parents/students with Required Precautions-- a school safe space for remote learning (not inperson instruction) in the event a parent needs to utilize this option. An individual plan will be developed between the school/Principal and the parent with mandatory precautions outlined and signed agreements (safety precautions based on CDC, IDPH, ISBE along with self certification and temperature checks daily)

IEP/EL Services Options for On-Site Delivery and/or Remotely -on an individual basis with parent collaboration (with mandatory safety precautions based on CDC, IDPH, ISBE guidelines along with self certification and temperature checks daily)

Staff Report On-Site (using mandatory safety precautions based on CDC, IDPH, ISBE guidelines) staff will facilitate instruction from school daily. Staff (district-wide staff or contracted service providers) will be expected to submit a self-certification of wellness related to the COVID symptoms every morning of in-person work. This will be completed prior to the start of school.

Our plan includes following the mandatory protocols provided by ISBE and the Illinois Department of Public Health. The following protocols will ensure that no one is at risk and will be safe in our schools: • • •

Require use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including face coverings; Prohibit more than 50 individuals from gathering in one space; Require social distancing be observed, as much as possible;

Require that schools conduct symptom screenings and temperature checks and/or require that individuals self-certify that they are free of symptoms before entering school buildings; Require an increase in school-wide cleaning and disinfection.

Throughout this process, our very top priority has remained the health and safety of our students, families and staff.

Thank you to all of our staff and families who have provided the district with feedback and asked questions over the past month. As you can imagine, each person/family has their own unique situation and the candid feedback we received helped guide us as we developed the best plan possible.

As a school community, it is more important than ever that we unite in our efforts to support our students and continue to focus on their education and growth. This remote learning model must provide for the improved educational outcomes of our students; ensure that students receive interventions and supports; ensure that all students across all grade levels and classrooms throughout the district receive 2.5 daily hours of synchronous instruction (live instruction) and at least 5 hours of instruction per day; and most importantly be anchored on the priority of providing equity to EVERY student (ensuring that all policies, programs, and practices affirm the strengths that each and every child brings within their diverse backgrounds and life experiences, and by delivering the comprehensive supports, programs, and educational opportunities they need to succeed).

Parent Orientation Sessions for Remote Learning August 25th - 28th Remote Learning Planning Days We will be utilizing 4 Remote Learning Planning Days on 8/25, 8/26, 8/27 and 8/28 to conduct Technology Device Deployments and sponsor Parent Teacher Orientation Sessions. Parents will be given a choice of attending an orientation session in the morning (10-11 AM) or in the afternoon (2-3 PM).
