WHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR? Research shows that the transition to parenthood is difficult to negotiate. Parenting has become professionalised, in that there is a “right” way and a “wrong” way to bring up children in an increasingly child-focussed world. This workshop is aimed at parents of children aged 0 to 4 years, to help them negotiate the parenting pathways.
WORKSHOP SUMMARY (2 HOURS) Good mothers, good fathers, and why these are impossible ideals What the research says about particular groups of parents Early years: What the research says It takes a village: What the research says Types of parenting: Is there a “right” way? Strategies to stress less Questions and feedback
TAILORING YOUR WORKSHOP Workshops can be tailored to address the needs of particular groups of parents, such as teenage parents, single parents, CALD parents, parents from rural, remote and regional areas, and so on. We find that tailored workshops are an especially effective use of time. In addition, the above outline is a suggestion only, and you are encouraged to discuss particular needs with your workshop facilitator
