Originally a 16th Century working water mill, Coombe Mill is a beautiful and secluded hamlet of picturesque cottages and riverside lodges set amidst an idyllic private estate near Bodmin on the North Cornish coast. Tucked away in a lush woodland valley, you will sense the peace and tranquillity from the moment you arrive. As a family of four, we went there for a week in April 2009. Our two little boys, then aged 2.5 years and 21 months enjoyed every minute of the holiday as there was so much for them to do, including a daily tractor ride with Farmer Ted to feed all of the animals! We were also lucky enough to be there to meet the new born lambs!! We stayed in the Two Chimney’s Cottage, which was home from home, very cosy, clean and well equipped for self-catering purposes. The owners of Coombe Mill – Nick and Fiona really have thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible and there are stair gates, high-chairs, and most importantly – plenty of toys for the little ones! There is also a well-stocked shop that sells home-made dinners as well as all the essentials you will need during your stay. You can borrow wellies for those feed runs in the morning along with fishing rods, should you wish to do some fishing in the stream. Coombe Mill has everything a child could possible want on a holiday; lovely walks through the woodland, soft play area, outside playgrounds and a beautiful green for football and picnic lovers. You can even borrow a barbeque for those lovely summer evenings. Within 10 minutes, you can be at the beautiful North Cornish coast and when the weather is not so good there is a swimming pool, open to the public 5 minutes up the road!! Recently built and designed for today’s modern family, Eden, Heligan and Pencarrow are the new contemporary and spacious properties. They sleep seven in 3 or 4 bedrooms and overlook the beautiful valley. This holiday was by far, the best British holiday we have ever had.
