Our Alkaline Builder is used to raise the total alkalinity of swimming pool water. The total alkalinity reading is a very important part of pool water balance. This product is used to lower the pH of swimming pool, spa and hot tub water. The effectiveness of a disinfectant, such as chlorine, is controlled by maintaining the pH between 7.2 and 7.8 pH. This is achieved by keeping the total alkalinity between 80 ppm and 180 ppm. pH and total alkalinity are related. They should be tested and the results considered together. After testing the water, refer to the pH total alkalinity chart to determine the correct amount of this product to use.

Calcium hardness is a common reference to pool chemistry. The recommended level for calcium hardness is 200 ppm and both high and low levels result in pool problems. Using a pool stabilizer is a necessary part of keeping your pool clean. Pool Stabilizer is Cyanuric Acid (CYA). CYA slows down how quickly Chlorine evaporates so that Chlorine will stay in the water longer. CYA works by binding to Chlorite ions in Chlorine and protecting them from UVA ray damage.
