The current alignment of Face of Indiana.

Leaning sculpture concerns residents By Alan Hague

alan@broadripplegazette.com The Gazette received a call from John Hill from the Broad Ripple Brewpub. The brewpub is directly across Cornell Avenue from a sculpture that was placed along the Monon Trail back in 2003. Faces of Indiana for the Millennium is a sculpture created by C.L. Shiefer of Martinsville, Indiana. Faces was originally installed at the Governor's Mansion in 2000 and later moved to the Monon at 65th. It is a 10 foot x 5 foot x 4 foot, 14 ton art piece. John Hill says that over the years of sitting outside at the brewpub with friends, they have watched the sculpture lean more and more. "We've been watching kids climb all over it and we are just worried that one of these days its going to slip and fall on somebody," explained Hill. "We called the city a couple of years ago. They may have come looked at and maybe it wasn't as bad at the time, but somebody needs to do something about it."

We are all responsible for maintaining and enhancing the vibe. This is personal and shared. Communities thrive when viewed as a group experience. Below is a personal perspective based upon shared experiences within a room:

i am i am you. i am him and her. i am the human interactions within this room. i am the strings. i am the guitar. i am the force of the people in this room interacting with the music in this room. i am the electricity which lights up this room. i am indelibly connected to all that happens here. Thus, it is important that i make my contributions positively felt. C.W. Pruitt II Aug.21, 2008
