At 108 stories tall, it’s the second tallest building in the United States.

The building is designed to sway up to three feet.

It was known as the Sears Tower until 2009.

Stand on The Ledge and look down through the glass to see the ground 1,353 feet below your feet.

Stand very still and see if you can feel the tower move in the Chicago wind.

The northern hemisphere’s tallest swimming pool sits on the 44th floor.

At 100 stories, it’s the 4th tallest building in Chicago.

It took 5 years to build and was finished in 1969.

Take the United State’s fasted elevator to the 94th floor. Count how many seconds it takes.

Stand very still and see if you can feel the building move in the Chicago wind.

The park took 6 years to build and was finished in 2008.

The park is actually the roof of a parking garage that can fit up to 9,200 cars.

The park takes up 319 acres of downtown Chicago.

Look at your reflection in Cloud Gate, also known as The Bean.

Wade in the water at Crown Fountain. Look for the face of a local Chicagoan in the fountain.

Walk across the pedestrain bridge that leads to the Art Institute of Chicago.

Walk through 2.5 acres of public gardens at the Lurie Gardens.

Check the Millennium Park website for free events such as concerts, plays, movies, or ice skating.

Walk just outside the park to see Buckingham Fountain. Visit on-the-hour for a water show.

Get a great view of the skyline on the 150 foot tall Ferris Wheel.

Pick out your favorite design as you walk through the Tiffany Stained Glass exhibit.

Watch the fireworks. Look for them on holidays and Wednesday and Saturday in the summer.

Walk along the outside of the pier and count the number of ships you can see.

Check the Navy Pier website for free events, music, and preformances.


Lincoln Park Zoo is one of the last free zoos in the United States.

The first animals at the zoo were a pair of swans.

The first bison ever born in captivity was born at Lincoln Park Zoo.

Visit the Small Mammal and Reptile House at 11:00am to pet and hold one of the animals.

Visit the Farm-in-the-Zoo Barn to see some of your favorite barn animals up close.

Visit the Lincoln Park Conservatory right outside the zoo to see exotic plants, flowers, and trees.

As you visit all the different animal houses, look out for these specific animals: African Lion

The Lake is 118 miles wide and 307 miles long.

Lake Michigan is the only Great Lake located entirely in the USA.

In the mid-1800s, Lake Michigan had pirates!

Visit one of Chicago’s many man-made sandy beaches.

Take a look at the skyline. Some of the best views of the city are from the lake and it’s beaches.

Walk along the Lakefront Trail. Don’t worry if you can’t walk it all— it’s 18 miles long.

Look for these buildings. Depending on which beach you’re at, you might be able to see them all. Willis Tower

All the bridges downtown can lift to let tall boats through.

On St. Patrick’s Day, the river is dyed bright green. In 1994, the river flooded underground tunnels and office building basements. In 1900, the river’s flow was reversed to stop waste from entering the Lake Michigan.

Get the best view of Wacker Drive while riding the Brown Line train over the river.

Michigan Avenue is also referred to as The Magnificent Mile.

The Water Tower is the only building that survived the Chicago Fire of 1871.

Named one of the Top 10 Shopping Avenues in the World.

Visit the Chicago River for one of the most iconic views of the city.

The lung fish is the oldest fish in any aquarium in the world at 86 years old. Shedd was the first inland aquairum with a salt water collection. The aquarium contains over 25,000 fish.

Find the spaceship Apollo 8, which carried the first man to orbit the moon.

Take the coal mine tour and learn more about how coal mining works.

In the scale model of Chicago, look for some of the buildings you will see while walking around the city.

In the exhibit You! The Experience, find out what your voice will sound like when you’re 80 years old.


The permanent collection has about 300,000 works of art.

The museum was founded in 1879 but moved into it’s current location in 1893. The museum is also an undergraduate and graduate art school.

CHICAGO’S UNDERGROUND PEDWAY Underneath Chicago’s downtown Loop sits about five miles of tunnels for people to walk through. Find your way from the Blue Line to Millenium Park.
