event. Once again, we had a very good stand, and being on my home patch, I was delighted to be awarded 1st prize in the Breed Society Exhibit category.

We were fortunate enough to be able to hold an open day at the end of September, courtesy of David, Kath Edwards and Fran Ford. Events like these are always easy when the host farmers have enthusiasm for both the breed and the message we were trying to give on the day. We are indebted to David, Kath and Fran for their commitment to the open day. Ed Simmons gave a detailed presentation based around pelvic measurements, and their effectiveness in helping to select the future of a breeding herd. I gave a talk on sustainability in beef production, and a very interesting discussion was had by all present. Drinks were kindly supplied by Crediton Milling, and the British Simmental Cattle Society provided a barbecue. A great day was had by all.
