Welsh Club By Dafydd Jones - Chairman
T
hank you to all at The Welsh Simmental Club for yet another fantastic year as Chairman. 2019 has been a year that has flown by. We began this year with our Annual Dinner, held at the Cottage Inn, Llandeilo. Our AGM was held shortly afterwards where the following were elected: Chairman - Dafydd Jones Vice Chairman - Aled Davies Secretary - Anwen Jones Treasurer - Aled Davies Vice Treasurer - Aled Evans Young Members Representative - Callum Croft Flowing into February at the Stirling bull sales, Richard and Debbie Cumming enjoyed great success winning their class with Cwarre Iowa who later sold for 6,500gns.Â

Richard and Debbie continued their success at the Worcester Sale in May where they sold Cwarre Idaho for 6,800gns.Â
At Aberystwyth Show the Champion was awarded to Cwarre Jester from Richard and Debbie Cumming. Jester then went on to become Interbreed Male Champion. The highlight of our year as always is the Royal Welsh Show. Despite a low number of entries, the breed enjoyed a successful week. Judge Mr David Donnelly awarded Champion to Sacombe Dandelion Oma from the Borlase family, who also claimed the Reserve Champion with Sacombe Joker. Later that day, Sacombe Dandelion Oma was awarded Interbreed Champion. To celebrate the 100th Show, a one-off Champion of Champions competition was held. Dandelion Oma successfully beat the Dairy and Commercial competition to represent the Bovines and was awarded Reserve Champion of Champions.

Following on from the Royal Welsh Show was the Welsh National Show held at Pembrokeshire County Show, a tremendous show of Simmentals was judged by Mr John May. Champion was awarded to Cwarre Jester from Richard and Debbie Cumming, and Reserve to Crugmelyn Icing Sugar from Gethin and Enfys Lloyd.

Cothi Bridge Show represents the start of the showing season for our members, where the Francis family were Champion with Kennox Ike.
