From critical care physicians manning the hospital’s recently-expanded intensive care units to neurologists operating the region’s first certified stroke center, the Bristol Regional medical staff stands ready to meet any medical need. The hospital is also working to bring medical services and expertise closer to its patients. Digital mammography is offered to area women at Volunteer Parkway Imaging Center in Bristol Tennessee, and primary care services are offered by the family doctors at Medical Associates at Exit 7 in Bristol Virginia – and will soon be offered off Exit 19 in Washington County, Virginia, too. Bristol Regional is also proud to partner with HealthSouth to offer the Rehabilitation Hospital of Southwest Virginia. The hospital’s centers of excellence include cardiac care, the Nicewonder Cancer Center, the stroke center, the Wellmont Diabetes Treatment Center, an emergency department and Level II trauma center, inpatient and outpatient hospice and palliative care, neuroscience, occupational health, outpatient services, rehabilitation services and women’s health.

Johnson City Medical Center (Mountain States Health Alliance)

Mountain States Health Alliance, a not-for-profit healthcare organization based in Johnson City, Tenn., operates a family of 13 hospitals serving a 29-county, four-state region (Northeast Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, Southeastern Kentucky and Western North Carolina). MSHA offers a large tertiary hospital, several community hospitals, two critical access hospitals, rehabilitation, a children’s hospital, a behavioral health hospital, home care and hospice services as well as a comprehensive medical management corporation. Its 9,000 team members are committed to its mission of bringing loving care to health care. Johnson City Medical Center, MSHA’s flagship facility, continues to be nationally recognized and has recently won numerous accolades, including two consecutive gold medals from the American Heart Association for treatment of congestive heart failure and coronary artery disease, recognition as a Top 100 Heart Hospital by two different organizations, and the National Research Corporation Consumers Choice Award as the most preferred hospital in the Tri-Cities. In 2004, JCMC became the first Magnet Hospital in Tennessee, distinguishing the hospital as a preferred place for nurses to work. The designation was renewed in 2009. Inside Washington County, the MSHA family also includes Franklin Woods Community Hospital, the first green hospital in Tennessee certified by the U.S. Green Building Council; the James H. and Cecile C. Quillen Rehabilitation Hospital, which received a Compass Award from Press Ganey Associates for quality of patient services; and Niswonger Children’s Hospital, a 69-bed facility dedicated solely to children that also houses one of only six St. Jude Affiliate Clinics for the treatment of pediatric cancer. As the largest health care system in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, MSHA has instituted a philosophy of Patient-Centered Care. By making patients and their families a guiding force in the delivery of care, MSHA improves healing of the mind, body and spirit.
