Honour Board and Major Events - Men

Traditional events open to all amateur male Members with playing rights on the day (or days) of play. Handicap of the day applies except where noted. To be eligible to qualify for and/or win an honour board and/or major event at the club, a Member must hold a Normal Handicap as per Golf Australia guidelines at the time of qualification (i.e. any Member holding a Provisional Handicap is ineligible).

121st Club Championships and Plate Championship

Two 18-hole qualifying stroke rounds: • Saturday, 20 May and Sunday, 28 May • Two tee start

A.H. Colledge Trophy

24th Veterans' Handicap Match Play

A nett stroke match play event between the eight leading qualifiers (aged 65 or over on Qualifying Day) from an 18-hole qualifying round played on Saturday, 20 or Sunday, 21 May, depending on player's grade; • Quarter Finals – Sunday, 11 June from 7am • Semi Finals - Sunday, 18 June from 7am • Final – Sunday, 25 June from 7am • One tee start

16th Byneset Trophy

A nett stroke match play event between the eight leading Nett qualifiers from an 18-hole qualifying round played on Sunday, 21 May. Event open only to six day male Members; • Quarter Finals – Sunday, 11 June from 7am • Semi Finals - Sunday, 18 June from 7am • Final – Sunday, 25 June from 7am • One tee start

46th G.H. Mocatta President's Cup

A fourball knockout event with 64 pairs that qualify Opening Day. 4BBB Shotgun AM/PM (Saturday, 11 February). All matches to be played before the following nominated dates: • First Round - Sunday, 21 May

• Second Round - Sunday, 27 August • Third Round - Sunday, 24 September • Quarter Finals - Sunday, 15 October • Semi Finals - to be played on Saturday, 18 November • Final - to be played on Saturday, 2 December

Matches are to be played on the date allocated by the Match Sub-Committee. Teams can organise a different date and time, but both teams are to be in agreement of the change. This date must be on or before the date listed above. When playing a match on any Saturday (other than suggested in the Fixtures Book) or any Wednesday, it must be played at the end of the morning or afternoon field and must be booked through the Golf Shop prior to the release of the timesheet. All matches are to be played off the blue tees on the player's handicap on the day using the Match Index. If the blue tee markers are not in place, the match is to be played from the blue plates. 86th Sir Leslie Wilson Cup

A 36-hole handicap Stableford event for all grades played over two rounds on Saturday, 4 February and Saturday, 25 February. First round handicap applies. All ties in qualifying will be decided by countback. Trophy Donor – Paul Taylor.

89th Tennyson Cup

A nett stroke match play event between the 16 leading qualifiers from an 18-hole qualifying round played on Saturday, 1 April. Knockout match play rounds on Saturday, 15 April, Saturday, 22 Aprl, Saturday, 29 April with the final played on Saturday, 6 May.

121st Lamington Cup (Second Cup)

A nett foursomes match play event between the eight leading qualifiers from an 18-hole qualifying round played on the Saturday, 29 July. Knockout match play rounds on Saturday, 5 August and Saturday, 12 August. Final played on Saturday, 19 August.

The 123rd Midwinter (Blackheath) Medal

A 36-hole handicap stroke event for (all Grades) played over two rounds on Saturday, 8 July and Saturday, 15 July. First round handicap applies. Ties will be decided by countback. Trophy Donor - Bruce Richter.

92nd Yeerongpilly Cup

An 18-hole Amateur open gross stroke event played Sunday, 3 September. Handicap limits apply. In the event of a tie, the Cup will be decided by sudden death playoff. Golf Australia Order of Merit Event. Trophy Donor – Club.

65th Club Foursomes Championships

A 36-hole gross stroke event played on Saturday, 1 July. In the event of a tie, the Championship decided by sudden death playoff. Winners are NOT eligible for the Boyce Trophy. Shotgun start, groups of 6. Trophy Donor – Club.

41st Boyce Trophy

A 36-hole nett stroke foursomes event played on Saturday 1 July, in conjunction with the Club Foursomes. Winners are NOT eligible for the Club Foursomes.Ties will be decided by countback. Shotgun Start, groups of 6. Trophy Donor – Club.

62nd M.T. Stafford Trophy

A fourball knockout event with eight pairs qualifying from an 18-hole qualifying 4BBB vs Par round on Saturday, 9 September. Knockout match play rounds on Saturday, 16 September and Saturday, 23 September. Final played on Saturday, 30 September.

Captain's Medal

The winner is the player with the lowest average gross stroke

score from the December 2022 to November 2023 Monthly Medals. The best eight (8) scores are counted. Trophy Donor – Club.

Medal of Medallists

The winners of the Monthly Medals in each grade from November 2022 to October 2023 are invited to participate in the Medal of Medallists playoff held in conjunction with the November Monthly Medal played on Saturday, 4 November. Best nett score of participants. Trophy Donor – Club.

22nd Midweek Match Play Challenge (Oldest Member Cup)

A fourball knockout event with 16 pairs to qualify on Wednesday, 15 February. All matches to be played before the following nominated dates: • Round of 16 - Wednesday, 19 April • Quarter Finals - Wednesday, 28 June • Semi Finals - Wednesday, 23 August • Final - To be played on Wednesday, 27 September

If agreement cannot be reached on a suitable date, then matches must be played on the date allocated by the Match SubCommittee or both teams will be disqualified. All matches are to be played off the white tees on the player's handicap on the day using the Match Index. If the white tee markers are not in place, the match is to be played from the white plates.

51st Centenary (Summer) Cup Honouring Sam Mills

A stroke event played over four rounds. The best three of four rounds to count with the best gross score to receive the trophy. Nett prizes for A and B Grades, with the C Grade competition played as Stableford. Handicap as at the first round applies throughout. Winners presented on Opening Day. Trophy Donor – Reg Hutchinson.

46th Mixed Foursomes Fourqueux Championship

A 36-hole gross stroke event played on Sunday, 16 April. Nett events in conjunction. In the event of a tie, the Championship will be decided by sudden death playoff. Shotgun starts from 7.30 am and 12.30pm. Trophy Donor - Catherine Hammond.

The 62nd Brisbane Shield

A fourball knockout event with eight pairs qualifying from an 18-hole 4BBB vs Par round on Sunday, 5 November. Knockout match play rounds on Sunday, 12 November and Sunday, 19 November. Final played on Sunday, 26 November. All ties in qualifying will be decided by countback. All matches are to be played using the player's handicap on the day using the Match Index. Gardel Electrical Captain's Challenge

The Captain's Challenge is generally played on the last Friday of the month with a morning and afternoon shotgun start. The golf course is set up at its most difficult and any player who beats their handicap in this Medley Stableford Blue and Red Tee event receives one dozen golf balls. An Order of Merit is maintained and a winner determined every six months. The golfer with the best 5 out of 6 stableford scores over the six-month period wins a gift voucher. Members are encouraged to invite guests from other clubs to play. Members pay a $12 competition fee whilst non-Members pay $92 (this includes competition fee). Each group of four receives a cheese platter in the Clubhouse following their round of golf. The Club is proud to have Gardel Electrical as the major sponsor of the Captain's Challenge. The Captain's Challenge aligns itself with numerous charities. The goal is to raise awareness levels of the roles these important charities play in the lives of those Australians affected and to raise some much needed funding through a variety of activities. Players in the Captain's Challenge are encouraged to make a donation to these charities.
