tand Up Paddle Boarding (SUP) IS one of the fastest growing sports in Australia and was recently named the fastest growing outdoor recreational activity in the world. You only have to go to a Gold Coast beach, canal or waterway to see SUPs in their droves, catching a wave or cruising serenely in a group. What is the appeal? “SUP is all about fitness and lifestyle,” says Ross Meadows from Superior Watersports, which produces rotomoulded, rather than fibreglass boards from its Gold Coast manufacturing facility. “A lot of our customers are beginners and don’t want to spend a huge amount on their first board – they want a reasonable entry price to decide if they want to take it further. Additionally, the Superior SUPs are very robust and can take a lot of punishment, great for families and the rental market.” Superior has customers around Australia and as far away as Fiji, all converted from fibreglass to rotomoulded plastic SUPs. The Superior Watersports board was designed by Australian surfing legend Dave Verrall and is made from 100% Australian materials and labour. The board is ideal for the beginner to

intermediate level rider as with its large beam it is easier to ride. The Superior SUP features a large deck grip area for easy movement around the board and a front cargo net and rear waterproof locker for stowage. The basic model is the R2, while the R1 upgraded version has water resistant storage box for phone, car keys, leg rope connection point, as well as a bungee cord for carrying fishing gear and other items. “A Superior SUP features extreme resistance to damage compared to many other composites which can dent and break they can be thrown in the back of a ute or on top of a cruiser!” In two versions, the R1 and R2, the Superior SUP retails for between $600 to $700. Superior Watersports SUPs include an aluminium paddle and are available in three colours: white, blue and pink. The board colour can be customised to another colour for an additional 10%. Superior is offering free shipping Australia wide for a limited time. Visit superiorjetties.com
