he Brilliance Horse Auction Company came into being when life-long friends and colleagues Pippa and William Funnell of The Billy Stud, and Chloe and Shane Breen of Breen Equestrian Ltd, were discussing dates for their own forthcoming auctions, to avoid any clashes in a very busy calendar. Why not join forces for two elite collections - held at two of the UK’s leading 5* horse shows –The London International Horse Show at Excel in December 2023, and to follow, at the Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead in 2024. The UK is facing a unique set of circumstances following our withdrawal from the EU in 2020. It has never been more important for the rest of the world to see that we are open for business as usual. What better way to highlight the quality that we have on offer than as the eyes of the show jumping world turn to the FEI World Cup Show Jumping in London. So the idea was sown, and with the unbridled enthusiasm and technical expertise of the team at LIHS, preparations began for our first edition in London. Particular thanks must go to Simon and Nick Brooks-Ward for their unequivocal backing of our vision. Our team have carefully hand-picked all of the entries in this collection. As well as drawing from those in our own stables, we have also personally invited other trusted breeders, producers and owners from the UK and Ireland to put forward their stars for consideration. We are enormously grateful to them for allowing us the privilege of presenting their horses for sale. If you have been invited to the auction by either The London International Horse Show or Brilliance Horse Auction Co Ltd, you will be provided with a badge to allow you into the VIP viewing area of the London Arena.
There will be a showcase of the Brilliance Auction horses in the New Horizon Plastics London Arena on Thursday 14th December between 5.30pm and 7.30pm. If you wish to view the horses during that time from the VIP Viewing Area, your badge will allow you into the area from 5.30pm.
The badge can be collected on arrival at the Ticket Collection/ Box Office in the ExCeL main entrance. It will be held under your name. This will give you access to the London Arena VIP Viewing area from 5pm when a drinks reception will be held before the auction commences at 6pm. This badge will also allow you access to the Shopping Village and Champagne Bar for The London International Horse Show which starts at 9am each day. It does not give you a seat to watch the performance in The International Arena.
TICKETS FOR THE AUCTION If you would like to buy seats in the public grandstand of the New Horizons Plastics London arena to watch the auction. These can be purchased via our website under the info tab. Tickets are £16.
If you would like to ride one of the auction horses this is possible between 5.25pm and 7.25pm on Friday 15th December. STUD, ORCHESTRATING THEIR BREEDING PROGRAMME AND PRODUCING UPCOMING TALENTS LIKE BEN MAHER’S TOP RIDE FALTIC HB TO INTERNATIONAL LEVEL. HIS PASSION FOR YOUNG HORSES AND BREEDING PERFECTLY COMPLEMENTS THE VISION OF THE FOUR DIRECTORS OF THE BRILLIANCE HORSE AUCTION COMPANY. As The Billy Stud manager, Roger works side by side on a daily basis with seasoned international competitors William and Pippa Funnell whose contribution to the eventing and show jumping worlds has been unparalleled. They have spent many years producing home-grown horses to the pinnacle of both sports. William has recently been appointed as trainer for the UAE show jumping team, with the Paris Olympics in their sights. Shane Breen, currently 71 in the world rankings, travels the world week in, week out competing on The Global Tour, Nations Cup and World Cup circuits. Together with wife Chloe Breen,

a Director of The All England Jumping Course, Hickstead, they have an intimate knowledge of the show jumping world – and what it takes to breed and produce horses for the world stage. Common goals and mutual respect drive the team behind The Brilliance Horse Auction Company. It would be simply impossible to get a project like this off the ground without the graft and determination of our inspirational team, a merger of the teams from The Billy Stud auctions established in 2017, and Equisportif, who successfully delivered the Breen Equestrian Ltd auctions of 2022 and 2023. A small army of unsung heroes from the Breen and Funnell stables have been diligently working behind the scenes to produce and look after these twelve horses to present them to you tonight in peak condition and health. Our Event Director Lucy Townley’s team of Christine McCrea, Izzy Smith and Liv Parker have moved heaven and earth to get these twelve horses filmed, photographed, researched and catalogued. Due to the competition schedules of the horses, the team had to contend with several different filming locations in the UK, Spain and Ireland – from Hascombe Farm in Sussex to MET Oliva Nova in Spain. A special thanks also to Andy Mather from Absolute Design who has worked day and night to meet our design deadlines.

hat first conversation ignited the passion, and together with Roger McCrea, they have spent the season uncovering the diamonds of the British and Irish showjumping circuits. They have followed the horses as they have developed and matured throughout the year, and researched and discussed their pedigrees to make sure that the final 12 horses all have the lineage to match their notable show records.
