Keen gardeners will find much of interest at this Grade 1 listed garden which offers 20-acres filled with rare and exotic plants from all over the world. A short coach ride away is the famous Swannery, home to 600 mute swans. At the time of our visit you may be lucky enough to see fluffy cygnets hatching from eggs in nests on or near the pathways and time for the mass feeding session at 4.00pm. Amiens, France via Ferry Thursday 15 August

Amiens is a French town with a difference - known as little Venice of the North, due to the Hortillonnages, an area over 300 hectares of small islands criss-crossed by 65 km of canals which can be explored either by walking or by traditional boat. Other Amiens attractions include the Atelier Claude Barre workshops, Notre Dame Cathedral, and Millennium Clock. Battlefield Tour & Ypres Salient, Belgium via Eurotunnel Wednesday 2 October

Our experienced drivers have put together a Battlefield Tour of the Ypres Salient complete with a commentary of interesting facts about the battles and cemeteries. The tour will try to include visits to: the Essex Farm cemetery, the Langemarck German cemetery; the overwhelming Tyne Cot cemetery; Sanctuary Wood Hill 62. Also incorporated in the tour is the Museum of Passchendaele. There will be time for lunch in the centre of Ypres, where there is a wide variety of eateries. Nestling within the Alice Holt Forest, Birdworld is one of the largest bird parks in the country. There are 26 acres to explore so make sure you allow plenty of time to see and experience everything we have to offer. Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire Wednesday 9 October

Soak up the atmosphere of one of England’s largest stately homes. Blenheim Palace in Woodstock is a unique example of English Baroque architecture set in over 2000 acres of beautiful Capability Brown landscaped grounds. Bletchley Park, Milton Keynes Friday 19 April

Seeing one of our Enigma Machines, including the rare ‘Abwehr G312’, is undoubtedly a highlight of a busy day out at Bletchley Park, but there is much more than machines in a visit to the historic site. Check out the tales of spies and strategic deception. You may even be the one to discover the map to genius mathematician Alan Turing’s silver, supposedly buried in or near Bletchley Park. British Wildlife Centre – Lingfield, Surrey Wednesday 7 August

The British Wildlife Centre at Lingfield is home to the finest collection of native wildlife in Britain with over forty different native wildlife species from tiny harvest mice to magnificent red deer, and everything in between, all in their natural environment. Much of the area is outdoors, although there are plenty of undercover areas such as The Barn, The Hedgerow and the observation Badger Sett, although most animals can be seen whatever the weather. Keeper talks every half an hour give you a further opportunity to learn about the animals. There is a gift shop which can provide a memento of your visit, or gifts for friends and family with a range of wildlife related items to suit all budgets. Refreshments can be found at the Coffee Shop which serves hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, snacks and confectionery to keep you going. Bruges Christmas Market, Belgium via Eurotunnel Saturday 14 December

Just in time for Christmas we give you the opportunity to visit Bruges’ Christmas market. It is almost as if the World Heritage City waits until winter, when the crowds have gone, to reveal its most charming side. From the end of November, the Market Square and the Simon Stevin Square are magically transformed into an attractive Christmas market where you’ll enjoy the charming atmosphere and find all kinds of special Christmas presents as well as stocking up on that essential Belgian chocolate. Clandon Park & Hatchlands Park, Surrey (NT) Wednesday 28 August

Situated in the tranquil heart of the Surrey countryside Clandon Park was built in the early 1730’s, and is one of Britain’s finest examples of the classical Palladian style. The attractive gardens contain a parterre, grotto, sunken Dutch garden, and a Maori meeting house. The Queen’s Royal Surrey Regiment Museum is also located here. A large restaurant is situated in the vaulted undercroft. Built in the 1750s Hatchlands Park contains the earliest recorded decorations by Robert Adam in an English country house. Set in a beautiful 174-hectare (430-acre) park, with a small formal garden designed by Gertrude Jekyll, a variety of way marked walks offer vistas of open parkland and views of the house. Danson House & Down House - Home of Charles Darwin (EH) Thursday 30 May

Our excursion combines two historical houses of note. Firstly Danson House, built by Sir John Boyd in the eighteenth century, sits in its own formal grounds within the estate. The house was built in the Palladian style by architect Robert Taylor and was recently restored by English Heritage over a ten year period having fallen into a ruinous state. The Breakfast Room is a delightful tea room offering a selection of refreshments and light lunches. You will rejoin the coach for the short journey to Down House. Charles Darwin lived with his family in Down House for 40 years; here he researched and wrote his most famous and explosive works, spending a great deal of time in the garden, experimenting and thinking. Gloucester City Centre Tuesday 7 May / Tuesday 17 September

Gloucester is a city, district and county town of Gloucestershire in the South West region of England. Gloucester lies close to the Welsh border, and on the River Severn. Gloucester Cathedral, in the north of the city near the river, originates in the foundation of an abbey dedicated to Saint Peter in 681. It is the burial place of King Edward II of England and Walter de Lacy. The Cathedral (mainly its cloisters) was used for corridor scenes in the films Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. You’ll have plenty of time to relax and explore this wonderful city, its docks and other buildings. Itinerary:

Guildford River Trip & Guildford City Wednesday 29 May / Thursday 25 July /Tuesday 20 August / Tuesday 24 September

Take a leisurely lunchtime cruise down the River Wey on the “Alfred Leroy” with a ploughman’s lunch (including coffee or tea) and an on-board bar offering you a modest selection of alcoholic and soft drinks, with table service. Relax and take in the beautiful views of Guildford town and Castle Keep as the Alfred Leroy takes you southwards, passing through the most beautiful and peaceful stretch of the River Wey and Godalming Navigation. You’ll see the Water Meadows and Saint Catherine’s Golden Sands and Ferry (used many years ago by the Pilgrims on their way to Canterbury), pass through Saint Catherine’s Lock, before turning at a winding hole for the return journey to Guildford, which takes its name from the “Golden Ford”. Your day out consists of a morning visit to the National Trust’s Ham House, at Richmond-upon-Thames, unique in Britain as the most complete survival of a 17th century Stuart mansion, with sumptuous interiors, original collections and restored formal gardens. The coach ticket includes the cost of entrance to Ham House and garden where there is the opportunity to purchase lunch and refreshments at the Orangery Café. Reduction for National Trust members. This will be followed by a short visit to the unusual red-brick Guildford Cathedral, consecrated as recently as 1961, which enjoys a commanding position on Stag Hill - so named because the Kings of England used to hunt there. The origins of the Royal British Legion Poppy Factory go back to 1922 when Major George Howson MC, a young infantry officer and engineer who served on the Western Front in the First World War, founded the Disabled Society to help disabled ex-Service men and women.
