Paleo Diet For The Everyday Person – Is it right for you?

First popularized in the mid-1970s , the Paleo diet also referred to as the caveman diet, is a healthy plan based on an antiquated ancient diet of plants and animals proteins that various hominid species habitually consumed during the Paleolithic era, a 2.5 million year duration that ended almost 10,000 years ago. The "Paleolithic diet" also refers to the actual ancestral human diet. Based on available modern foods, the modern Paleolithic diet consists mainly of vegetables, fruit, fish, grass-fed pasture raised meats, and nuts, and leaves behind grains, legumes, dairy products, salt, refined sugar, and processed oils, as a means to stay true to the diet of the Paleolithic era.

Compared to todays popular diet plans, the Paleo diet generally rides the lines of a low carb diet combined with some fruits and vegetables. But there is a lot more to it than that. The diet has recently had a re-emergence of popularity among other similar diets mainly for it’s simple rules. Because of this there are many cookbooks and online sources available to assist you in your Paleo journey, if you decide to take the healthy plunge.

As with many things in life, and especially diets, it is smart that a plan is followed with easy recipes, and a variety of choices. One of the problems with strict diets is not knowing what you can eat and when you can eat it. The best way to overcome this is to get one good guide to follow and stick to. That way you will never be scratching your head trying to guess the foods you need to get or what you should be eating next time you’re in the grocery store.
