The Charlotte Hobbs Memorial Library will hold “The Art of Storytelling: A Playful Workshop for Grownups” with Lovell’s own Jo Radner, beginning Tuesday, Oct. 20, from 1 to 3 p.m. and running for eight weeks until Dec. 1. Through a grant from the Creative Aging Initiative of the Maine Arts Commission, the library is able to offer this course free of charge. Radner, past president of the National Storytelling Network, has taught the art of storytelling throughout the U.S. and Hawaii. The class is open to all, even if you just want to sit and listen, be assured that even listening is fun. The Delta Lodge #152 AF&AM drew the winner of their grocery raffle, Mike Stephens of Gray. With the understanding that the money raised benefited Friends Helping Hands, Mike generously donated the winnings back to the town of Lovell. The money will be distributed as five $50 gift cards. At the next meeting, the cards will be handed over to Brother and Selectman Bob Drew, to be given out as needed to applicants. The money raised by the raffle could be matched by the Maine Grand Masonic Lodge. The Lodge would like to thank Doug Taft for running the raffle and for those who took part.
