14 members attend BHS Class of 1955 reunion

The 58th annual gathering of Bridgton High School’s Class of 1955 was held July 1 at Campfire Grille in West Bridgton. Fourteen members of the class and 11 spouses and guests attended, enjoying the once-a-year opportunity to socialize and enjoy fine food with excellent service and accommodations. Attending from outside the Lake Region area were: Sandra Gardner Cameron and John from Auburn; Linwood

Douglass and Marion from Las Vegas; Carolyn Farrar Keene and sister from North Anson; James MacDonald and Judy from Northport, Fla.; and Patricia Lovell Schulze from Laatzen, Germany. Attending from Bridgton were Bruce Chalmers and Laurie; George Drisko; Ruby Hill Gouette and Richard; and Stanley Richardson and Jan. Others attending from the region included Robert Libby and Sandra, from Standish;

Nancy Dillingham Pond and Burpee, from Naples; Elaine Little Smith and Gerald, from Harrison; Beverley Leavitt Warren and William Warren, from Gorham; and guest Ruth Waisanen, from Denmark. The 12 members of the class who did not attend include Barbara Conant Autio, Merl Barker, Janice Sanborn Clark, Harvey Daraich, Julie Moran Farrell, Nancy Hogan, Sydney Roberts Keniston, Dorothy

Several not attending sent their best wishes to their classmates. A pleasant time was enjoyed by all. Plans were made for the 59th gathering at the Campfire Grille on Tuesday, July 1, 2014. A reminder — the 60th reunion is scheduled for 2015.

Autoneers at ‘Back to Past’

HARRISON — The Autoneers are on a threeday weekend tour around the Bethel area, touring approximately 70 miles each day following the tours through Grafton and Evans Notches, as well as around the area lakes. The touring “Brass Era” autos will be joining the festivities at “Back to the Past” at Scribner’s Mill on Saturday, Aug. 3, and are expected to arrive around 11 a.m. Twenty cars have signed up for the tour, all of which are 1914 and older, representing the “Brass Era” of automotive history. The cars will range from a 1909 Model T Ford, 1908 Buick, 1910 Rambler, 1910 Hupmobile and a Stanley Steamer, driving on its own power from Woodstock, Vt. for the weekend.
