Emma C. Walker of Naples, Benjamin W. Welch of Denmark and Sydney G. Charles of Fryeburg qualified for the University of Rhode Island’s Dean’s List for the spring 2015 semester. To be included on the Dean’s List, students must have completed 12 or more credits during a semester for letter grades with at least a 3.30 quality point average. Jacob Desjardins of Raymond has completed Colby-Sawyer College’s internship requirement at Saco Bay Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy in Windham. Jacob is a member of the Class of 2016 majoring in Exercise Science. Internships are field experiences designed to provide a student learning opportunity under collaborative supervision between ColbySawyer College faculty, staff, and work site professionals. Internships offer the opportunity for students to enhance their academic programs with work experience related to career interests in all industry areas in national and international settings. Marguerite A. Wiser of Bridgton has been selected for inclusion on the Dean’s List for academic achievement during the spring 2015 semester at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. Marguerite is a member of the Class of 2017, majoring in Environmental StudiesEnglish. She attended Gould Academy. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, a student must have completed at least four courses and have an academic average of 3.6 based on a 4.0 scale for the semester. Monica Couvillion of Sebago has been named to the Marist College (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) Dean’s List for the spring 2015 semester. Monica is a member of the Class of 2016 and is majoring in Communication. Colby Locke graduated from Ithaca College’s School of Health Sciences and Human Performance with a degree in Athletic Training. The degree was awarded in May 2015. Colby graduated from Fryeburg Academy. USM Dean’s List The following full-time, in-state students have been named to the University of Southern Maine Dean’s List for the spring 2015 semester. In order to be named to the list, students must earn a grade point average of 3.4 or higher and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours. The Bridgton Art Guild is pleased to announce that two local students have each been awarded a $500 scholarship toward the continuance of their art education. Alison Upton of Lovell, a student of Fryeburg Academy, plans to attend Rochester Institute of Technology with a focus in graphic design. Cheyenne Roberts of South Paris, a student at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, plans to attend Maine College of Art to pursue his interest in graphic arts. Birthwise graduates 11 new midwives
On June 20, Birthwise Midwifery School in Bridgton proudly graduated 11 students. Holly Arends Murphy, CPM was the faculty Inspirational Speaker, and Janeyne Sexton was this year’s student Inspirations Speaker. The 2015 graduates are from various parts of United States and will be continuing on their journey of Midwifery. The Birthwise Midwifery 2015 Graduating Class is as follows: Karen Pierce: Karen will be moving to Wisconsin in the fall, where she has accepted a position as a staff midwife at a busy birth center. Nicole McKeen: Nicole will be starting her own practice on the South Shore of Boston, her hometown. Abby Luca: Abby will be finish-

Ellen Williamson: Ellen trained in Oregon at a thriving birth center. Ellen and her husband just bought a home in Oregon, and she plans on continuing her practice there. Rachael Cohen: Rachael will be finishing her clinical experiences in Colorado this summer. Rachael hopes to one day practice in her home state of New York. Catherine Mckeown-Lindsey: Catherine is starting a practice with two Birthwise graduates in Jamaica Plain, Mass., called JP Midwifery. Valerie Patroni: Valerie is starting her own practice, Green Lily
Midwifery, in her home state of New Jersey. Janeyne Sexton: Janeyne will be practicing with one of her mentors in her hometown of Philadelphia. Birthwise Midwifery School is a small private institution founded in 1994 in Bridgton. They offer a comprehensive, three-year education program for aspiring Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs), accredited by the Midwifery Education Accreditation Council and licensed by the State of Maine Department of Education. Birthwise has been approved by SEVIS for enrollment of international students, and students are eligible to apply for Federal Student Aid through the U.S. Education Department (FAFSA).

She has been hired on by the birth center as a staff midwife, caring for families specifically in the postpartum period. Tasha Gentile: Tasha has recently moved to Kodiak, Alaska with her husband and young son. She plans on becoming licensed in Alaska so that she may serve her new community.
