Visual Storytelling

We are stories. Everything humans do and experience evolves around some kind of story. It’s the way we contextualize information and experience to make it meaningful. Story is the way that we remember to remember who we are and where we have come from and where we can go.

Design an orihon style folding booklet visualizing the unique personality and character of your interview partner and their relationship to nature, specifically around water. Collect information about them in order to interpret and transform your research into a compelling design using abstract pattern development, storytelling, poetry, quotes, lyrics etc.

emphasis will be placed upon original concept development and the exploration of diverse processes, techniques and methods. (photography, screen printing, xerography…) you will be expected to experiment and explore, thereby expanding on your visualizing skills.

3. How do you access your intuition? am still working on listening to intuition, but I usually access my intuition by quieting everyone else so can truly listen to myself.

4. How has life changed you since Covid? It was a really big transition. had to grow a lot and it changed how I felt about myself and the world around me. definitely have a better outlook on things now than I did before.

5. What invitations are you offering to the world? want to show people the beauty of the world, that’s why went into graphic design and photography. I want people to be reminded of everyday beauty; you don’t need to somewhere else to find beauty, it is everywhere. I want to make people’s lives better instead of hindering them. 6. Tell me a transforming experience you’ve had in nature. Swimming in Hawaii by myself, a big turtle swam past me and was really amazed. I felt like it meant something; it felt like a sign from the unvierse that every thing would be okay.

7. What makes you feel connected with the world? Going on walks in nature where can appreciate the flowers and trees and watch people enjoying their lives, it’s a great feeling. 8. How do you respond to restrictions you encounter? Sometimes let them get to me, but don’t let them stop me. I’ll feel sad, but then solve it. 9. When do you experience fluidity? When I’m drawing or creating art, and am just in the flow. Work no longer feels work, and I don’t realize how much time has passed. 10. What are some familiar rituals you practice? Sometimes when I’m taking showers at night, I’ll light two candles and meditate. It feels relaxing to take care of myself and my body. 11. How do you quiet your mind? By meditating, observing nature and going to the beach. I always feel good after swimming. 12. What is one thing you want me to know about you? I am actually not quiet, sometimes have a hard time putting thoughts into words. My spirit animal would be a horse or jaguar.
