Chapstick

At least for me this item is one of my essentials, it really comes in handy for the big day. My top three brands that I use daily are Vaseline, Burt’s Bees, and E.L.F. Not only does chapstick have different flavors and scents, but they also have different textures. Finding the right one might not be as hard as you think, but it can be since there are so many different kinds out there.

Cowgirl hat

This hat is a very trendy style to have at your wedding. If you’re thinking about having a western themed wedding, getting a cowgirl hat is essential to completing your event. Being in Texas, having a western themed party is a right of passage. My favorite hat color combination is a deep grey color with a black belt around it.

Mini Boxes

These items can be a great wedding present or the perfect wedding decorations to put on the tables at your reception. If you go the present route, you can put multiple things in the box like candy, a little note, little pens, or cookies. If you put them on the table for decorations, you can put scented rocks or eye-catching flowers. Another good thing about these party boxes is that they are small and come in pastel colors.

Decorative tables

Of course, at your wedding you need places to sit, so you must have chairs and tables looking amazing and comfortable. Depending on your theme you could go all out on everything or just keep it simple. Right now, I think the colors for people’s weddings are cream and tan or pastel. These colors really pop out, if you go with the cream and tan colors it’ll be perfect for your western wedding. If you go with the pastel colors, you could put the mini boxes on your tables.

KAYLA MARIE DARENSBOURG DUSTIN MICHAEL FLEGLE by Amelia Hall

Kayla and Dustin’s story started with a spark at Texas State University, where they met through Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship. In the fall of 2018, they briefly dated before life took them in different directions. But fate had its own plans. In May 2021, they crossed paths again at a friend’s wedding. By July, at yet another wedding, they finally admitted what had been obvious all along…there was still something there.

for what was supposed to be a simple gender reveal. Kayla, ever the photographer, was busy capturing the moment when the big box opened. Instead of the expected pink or blue balloons, a massive diamond ring balloon floated up, reading: “Just kidding, Kayla! Turn around!”

“Alright, let’s give this another go,” Kayla said.

“You’ll never be able to surprise me,” she had teased him for months. Yet, there she was, stunned, speechless, and saying yes.

And so, they did. Two and a half years of long-distance dating later, Dustin made the big move from Dallas to Houston, sealing their commitment with proximity and persistence. But if their love story was a winding road, the proposal was an absolute plot twist. The scene was set at Kayla’s sister’s house -38-

And there was Dustin, on one knee, proving her wrong in the best way possible.

When it came time to choose a wedding venue, the couple knew exactly what they wanted. With Dustin’s family from Dallas and their mutual love for the countryside, they found their dream spot at Deep in the Heart Farms in Brenham, TX. Their rehearsal dinner location, however, was discovered entirely

by accident. While searching for a venue, they stumbled upon Main Street Uncorked, a hidden gem disguised as a martini bar. One drink in, they realized they’d found the perfect spot. The wedding day itself was nothing short of magical. Their dogs, dressed to impress in a bow tie and flower collar, made their way down the aisle, stealing hearts (and maybe a few treats). Dustin’s niece serenaded the guests with a worship song, setting the tone for a deeply heartfelt ceremony. At the reception, all eyes were on the couple as they performed a choreographed first dance, thanks to lessons at Fred Astaire in Vintage Park. But the real showstopper? The fog that rolled across the dance floor, courtesy of Elevated AV Productions, adding an ethereal glow to the moment. As the night went on, lumi blasts lit up the dance floor, smoke bubbles floated through the air, and laughter filled the room. And of course, there was cake… lots of cake. Kayla’s three-tier semi-naked cake featured flavors like Texas Melon, Butter Grand Marnier, and Cinnamon Roll, while Dustin opted for the ultimate classic, a cookie cake. They even had 3D prints of

their dogs as cake toppers, a small but significant tribute to their furry family members. As the evening came to a close, the couple bid farewell in a dazzling exit, ready to embark on their next adventure, a honeymoon in St. Lucia. Kayla and Dustin’s love story had been years in the making, filled with unexpected reunions, grand surprises, and unforgettable moments. And if their wedding was any indication, their future together would be nothing short of spectacular. Bride’s Advice: Pre-decide what is most important to you and your fiancé on your day of. Timelines may get pushed back, photos may be rushed, and you may need to decide in the moment what truly matters. We had to cut some things out of the timeline that were not as important to us in order to catch up since we were running behind and it was ok. The whole day I felt like I was in a bubble and just so happy that nothing really fazed me. That is my wish for you too! Remember you’re marrying your best friend and that is what matters most.

RUCHI MUKHERJEE WALTER SASSARD

Bollywood Style Wedding of The Year

by Amelia Hall

When Ruchi met Walter in the summer of 2020, it was an instant connection. She had always dreamed of finding a true partner, someone who would understand her passion for journalism, fashion, and her love for life. Walter, a New York fashion photographer turned firefighter, seemed like an unexpected match, but their hearts aligned from the very beginning. “At first glance, we’re worlds apart, but our hearts and souls are so together,” Ruchi shared. Their love story took a magical turn in Banff, Canada, where Walter surprised Ruchi with a breathtaking proposal inside a gondola. The moment was perfect, just like something out of a Bollywood film.

-50-

Fast forward to November 3, 2024, and their wedding was nothing short of a grand Bollywood spectacle. Held at the historic Bryan Museum in Galveston, the venue’s stunning architecture reminded Ruchi of Calcutta, India, making it the perfect setting to celebrate their love. The pre-wedding festivities were a month-long affair, filled with cherished Indian traditions. The Henna Ceremony and the Sangeet, held at Indian Summers Restaurant in Sugarland, were a vibrant celebration of music, dance, and culture. Guests were treated to an afternoon of live music by Rashmi Panikar and Shayan, setting the tone for the joyous days ahead.

Photography: Quy Tran and Bubble Love Photography

November 3, 2024

Ruchi’s bridesmaids, including her maid of honor Toni Tate and dear friends Sippi Khurana, Rita Garcia, Sadaf Choudhury, Meka Coxon, Sneha Merchant, Teresa Reading, Purva Patel, and Pooja Lodhia, along with her daughter Aryika, all wore stunning white saris with red borders. Their outfits, designed by Ramesh of Sari Sapne in Houston, were inspired by the legendary Bollywood film Devdas, adding a timeless, cinematic touch to the celebration.

REAL WEDDINGS

The wedding ceremony itself was a breathtaking traditional Hindu affair. As part of the festivities, Ruchi’s TV friends, adorned in beautiful Indian attire, danced their hearts out to Bollywood beats in a dazzling procession. It was a moment straight out of a movie, full of energy, color, and pure joy. Ruchi’s wedding outfit was custommade in India, while Walter’s wedding and reception ensembles were from Sari Sapne. Every detail reflected a perfect blend of heritage and elegance. Their blended family celebrated the union with love, as Ruchi’s daughter Aryika embraced Walter as a father figure, and Walter’s children, Luella and Felix, welcomed Ruchi with open arms. As the couple celebrated their new beginning, every detail of the wedding reflected the beauty of Indian culture, the richness of tradition, and the love that brought them together. It was more than just a wedding, it was a dream come true, a dazzling Bollywood love story brought to life. After the grand festivities, Ruchi and Walter jetted off to St. Lucia for their honeymoon, ready to begin their next chapter in paradise. Reflecting on their journey, Ruchi shared a message close to her heart: “Never lose hope for true love, while also continuing to improve yourself.” Their love story, filled with serendipity, culture, and unwavering devotion, was proof that true love always finds its way. Bride’s Advice: Seriously enjoy the day and take pictures with your bridesmaids and groom before the ceremony.

CASSIDY REESE BLALACK HAYDEN GIRARD SMITH

June 14, 2024 by Amelia Hall

5…4…3…2…1… Happy New Marriage!

Fast forward to another New Year’s Eve, and Hayden had something special planned. This time, the couple and their friends decided to meet in Tyler, Texas. Hayden had hinted at a surprise, and though Cassidy had a feeling this could be the weekend of their engagement, she had no idea of the details. After getting ready at their hotel, Hayden led Cassidy to what she thought was just a tour, but it turned out to be much more. As they neared a tree, called the “Marriage Tree” Cassidy’s cousin, a professional photographer, jumped out from behind some barrels, and in that moment, Hayden dropped to one knee and proposed. Behind them, friends and family emerged from hiding, cheering and celebrating. Cassidy, overcome with

-58-

emotion, cried tears of joy. “It was like it was out of a movie I was just so happy and in awe.” Cassidy said. Their journey to the altar was nothing short of a dream. Cassidy had always fantasized about a destination wedding, and together, they made it happen. Their first wedding was held at the stunning Dreas Resort in Riviera Cancun, where the azure ocean served as their backdrop. The second, just a week later, took place at her family’s venue, the Sugar Chateau in Pitkin, Louisiana. The two events were entirely different, but equally special. Cassidy hoped that by sharing their journey, she could inspire other brides to realize that their dreams, however grand, are possible. The destination wedding was as magical as Cassidy had envisioned. The rehearsal dinner the night before was a vibrant Mexican fiesta, set in the sand with views of the ocean. The decor, margarita bar, and taco spread created a relaxed yet festive atmosphere, and it was something all the guests would talk about for years. For the wedding day itself, Cassidy found the perfect dress at Whittington Bridal, a brand-new Eva Lendel gown that made her feel like it was made just for her.

The resort provided the cake, and though they couldn’t have their beloved dogs with them in person, they included figurines of the dogs on the cake to ensure they were part of the celebration. After a whirlwind week in Mexico, they returned stateside for their second wedding, a completely different, but equally remarkable, affair. Cassidy’s creativity shone through as she planned every detail herself, not hiring planners or decorators. This wedding embraced the theme of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, complete with Vegas inspired decor, a pink Cadillac, and disco elements. From hand-made ceiling fringe to pink Cadillac centerpieces and a disco ball photo backdrop, Cassidy infused the event with her vibrant, extra style. Although they decided to hold off on a honeymoon, choosing instead to celebrate big for their one-year anniversary, Cassidy and Hayden’s weddings were a testament to their love and shared joy. For Cassidy, the experience was about more than just the wedding day, it was about celebrating her unique vision with the people she loved most.

Photographer: Esteban Bahena Photography and Serendipity Photography

Cassidy and Hayden’s love story began unexpectedly on New Year’s Eve, six years ago, in their college town. Cassidy had returned early from the holidays at the insistence of her best friend, and little did she know that fateful night, she would meet the man she’d later marry. The New Year’s Eve tradition became a cornerstone of their relationship, with each year marked by special celebrations with their closest friends.

VIRGINIA ELIZABETH VANCE DAVID STARKE HALLAND JR. by Amelia Hall

April 1, 2024

Sailing into Forever

-62-

You never know when an ordinary day could lead to an extraordinary moment. For Virginia, it all started at work when David transferred into her department. Within just a month, he asked her out for coffee, breaking her personal rule of never dating a coworker.

REAL WEDDINGS

Their first date lasted over four hours, and they were eventually asked to leave when the café closed. Something just clicked between them, and David wasted no time, he asked her out again the very next day. As their relationship blossomed, David planned a surprise ski trip. On the first day of the vacation, after a perfect day on the slopes, he got down on one knee and proposed. Virginia was caught completely off guard! A few days later, they announced their engagement on April Fool’s Day, and fittingly, decided to make their wedding date one year later, on April 1st. Virginia, who grew up sailing at the Houston Yacht Club, introduced David to her passion, and it quickly became something they both loved. Naturally, the Houston Yacht Club became the perfect venue for their wedding, offering stunning indoor and outdoor spaces, delicious food, and spacious rooms for the bridal party to get ready. Their rehearsal dinner was held at Villa Capri in Clear Lake, a cozy and intimate setting. Virginia’s gown and veil, both from the Alyssa collection by Kitty Chen Couture, were purchased at La Reve Bridal Salon. For their cake, Virginia and David Discovered M.E.B. Cakes at the Bridal Extravaganza and were sold after a tasting. “While all the flavors were amazing, the red velvet and classic almond cake stole the show!” Virginia says. Bride’s Advice: “Hire a planner/ coordinator! Kayla was our “month of” coordinator and she made everything run seamlessly, helped calm nerves, and navigate the stress of those final weeks!”

BAILEY KENSWORTHY MIGUEL MERCADO JR.

A Fairytale Romance with a Story Book Ending

They hit it off right away, and years later, Miguel surprised Bailey with the most magical proposal during their family Christmas vacation. On their last day in New York City, they walked across the Brooklyn Bridge, just the two of them, and ended up at the pier. Miguel set up a camera to “take pictures,” but instead, he got down on one knee and popped the question. It was straight-up movie magic! For their wedding, Bailey and Miguel chose Willowynn Barn in Santa Fe because it was close to home (and their dogs!) and had everything they wanted and more. The weekend started -66-

with a cozy rehearsal dinner in the cellar at Haak Winery. They had amazing wine and Italian food from Gio’s in Dickinson, which made the night even more special. When the big day arrived, Bailey absolutely rocked her Maggie Sottero gown from Whittington Bridal, looking like an actual princess. Their cake, made by Cakes by Jula in League City, was just as perfect as the rest of the day. Lori & Roberto Photography were there to capture every sweet moment so they could relive it forever. After celebrating with their family and friends, the newlyweds headed off to Paris, France, for their dream honeymoon. It was the perfect ending to a wedding that couldn’t have been more magical. This love story is just getting started, and it’s already unforgettable!

Photographer: Lori & Roberto Photography

Bailey and Miguel’s love story is straight out of a fairytale, and their November wedding in Santa Fe, Texas, was nothing short of amazing. Bailey, who works as an administrative coordinator, and Miguel, an industrial radiographer technician, first met through mutual friends.

From Missed Connections to a Lifetime of Love

Natalie and Kevin’s love story is one for the books. It all began over a decade ago at the University of Texas in Austin. They met on a dating app, but at the time, Natalie, already a busy TV reporter in Austin, wasn’t ready to date Kevin, who was still finishing up his undergrad. She politely passed, and they parted ways, each continuing on their own paths. Four years later, Kevin was casually watching TV when he saw Natalie on the news. Suddenly, memories of their short-lived connection came flooding back, and he knew he had to take a chance. So, Kevin slid into her DMs, not once, but multiple times. Natalie, being skeptical at first, wasn’t sure, but after some friendly encouragement from her roommate, she agreed to dinner. That dinner turned out to be the start of something amazing. From that moment, it was like the universe conspired to bring them together.

January 27, 2024 by Amelia Hall

Fast forward to March 24, 2023. Kevin had planned a surprise proposal in Las Vegas, right in front of the Bellagio Fountains. What started as a casual trip with Natalie’s brother and sister-in-law turned into a oncein-a-lifetime moment. Kevin had carefully planned the entire weekend without her knowing, but he was acting a bit off… nervous, even. He kept mentioning the Bellagio Fountains and asked her to dress up early, but she thought he was just being weird. Then, as they arrived at the fountains, two photographers approached them to take their photos. She started to wonder if Kevin had hired them for a photoshoot. But suddenly, Kevin dropped to one knee in front of the fountains, and all the pieces clicked. The look on Natalie’s face was priceless when she said a loud “Yes!” to the proposal she hadn’t seen coming. The couple didn’t waste any time and started planning their wedding.. After touring multiple venues, they

finally found the one at The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa. It felt like fate when the venue was available for their date, even with their relatively short nine-month engagement. Of course, not everything went according to plan, construction delays forced them to change their rehearsal dinner location from the Thompson Hotel to Hotel Zaza. But funny enough, Hotel Zaza had once been a top contender for the wedding itself, so it felt like a sign that things were working out just right.

kicked in. They highly recommend this intimate moment to other couples, especially those with large weddings.

Their wedding day was a dream come true. Tee Tran Studios captured every magical moment, and AMA by Claudia worked their magic on Natalie’s bridal portraits, making her look like she walked straight out of a fairy tale. The bride wowed in a gorgeous Pronovias gown from Ivory Bridal, which perfectly matched the elegant atmosphere.

Bride’s Advice: Hire a good wedding planner early on and allow them to help alleviate the stress. Pick your friends’ brains and get their advice, spreadsheets to help with the research process. Wedding planning can truly be so overwhelming, but it’s also one of the best times of your life.

REAL WEDDINGS

From their first awkward encounter on a dating app to a wedding filled with love, surprises, and a whole lot of fun, Natalie and Kevin’s journey is one for the ages. Their love story has only just begun, and if their wedding day was any indication, the next chapter of their adventure together is going to be just as magical.

The couple didn’t just create a beautiful wedding, they made it meaningful by blending their cultural traditions. Natalie’s father gave an emotional Malaysian yam seng toast during his speech, and they included a heartfelt Chinese tea ceremony. Later in the evening, guests were treated to a latenight Korean ramen bar, complete with custom toppings. The grand finale? A second line dance to honor Natalie’s New Orleans roots, sending them off in style. After the wedding, Natalie and Kevin jetted off on an epic honeymoon to the Maldives, Dubai, and South Africa. They explored the stunning sights of Cape Town, Stellenbosch, and Franschhoek before wrapping up their trip with an unforgettable safari near Kruger National Park. Thanks to Blaire Kochar of BPK Travel, everything went off without a hitch, making it the adventure of a lifetime. One of the most unforgettable moments of the day was when the couple exchanged private vows during their first look. It gave them a moment to truly connect with each other, just the two of them, before the chaos of the wedding -71-

LAUREN MACKENZIE SHULTZ CHRISTOPHER GARRETT BLACK January 18, 2025 by Amelia Hall

Some love stories begin with a slow burn, while others ignite like a firework in the night sky. Lauren and Christopher’s (Garrett) journey was effortless, fated, and utterly unforgettable. It all began on a secluded private beach in Port O’Connor, TX. As fate would have it, amidst the peaceful rhythm of the tides, their paths crossed. One glance was all it took. It was love at first sight, as if their souls had been waiting for this very moment. The laughter came easily, the conversations flowed endlessly, and by the time -74-

the stars rose above them, it was clear this was the start of something extraordinary. As time wove their hearts together, Garrett knew he wanted forever with Lauren. In a gesture as grand as their love, he planned the perfect proposal on the rooftop of Rail and Rye, where the city lights danced in the distance and the night air carried whispers of forever. As Lauren looked out over the stunning view, Garrett dropped to one knee, offering her not just a ring but a lifetime of adventure, laughter, and much love.

REAL WEDDINGS Their journey to the altar led them to Camp Hosea, a modern farmhouse setting as unique as their love. Nestled in nature’s embrace, it was the perfect backdrop for their vows. It was a place not many had ventured to, making it exclusively theirs in the most special way. The night before their “I dos,” friends and family gathered at Chapelton Vineyard in Chapel Hill, a breathtaking winery where glasses clinked, love was toasted, and the anticipation of the big day filled the air. On the wedding day, Lauren walked down the aisle in a stunning gown from Brick + Mortar Bridal, radiating elegance, while Garrett waited with a heart full of love and eyes that held a promise of forever. Guests were treated to a spectacular evening, complete with a cigar roller at cocktail hour, adding an extra touch of sophistication and charm to the celebration. The reception was filled with joy, laughter, and sweet indulgence, with a cake crafted by Fabulous Fare, as beautiful as it was delicious. As the night came to a close, Garrett and Lauren made their grand exit in a Rolls Royce, a timeless farewell to a night that would forever be etched in their hearts. With that, they set off for their honeymoon in the Dominican Republic, ready to begin their next chapter as husband and wife. Some love stories are fleeting. Garrett and Lauren’s was meant to be, written in the stars, sealed with a kiss, and celebrated by all who had the honor of witnessing it.

TAYLOR ROSS BENJAMIN HUDSON

Form Football Fever to Forever

Fast forward to October 14, 2023. Taylor and Ben were in Knoxville, TN, for another Aggie game, but Ben had something special planned. After the game, he suggested they “park the car” but took Taylor to a park with a chapel in the background. There, Ben proposed under a covered pavilion, with a photographer secretly capturing the moment. Taylor, overwhelmed by the surprise, couldn’t have been happier. The couple quickly began planning their wedding and chose Deep in the Heart Farms in Brenham, TX, for its beauty and proximity to family and friends. The venue, owned by the Andersen family, made the day even more special. -78-

For their rehearsal dinner, they chose the upstairs party room at Rail & Rye in Navasota, TX. It was an intimate gathering of immediate family and the bridal party, filled with laughter and excitement. On the wedding day, Taylor looked stunning in her Marilyn Asymmetrical Satin Bridal Dress by Maggie Sottero, purchased at Brickhouse Bridal in The Woodlands. The reception at Deep in the Heart Farms was filled with Texas traditions, including a cigar bar and a lively sing-along of the Aggie War Hymn, creating lasting memories. They also branded the venue wall with their new last initial, adding a personal touch. Their wedding cake, made by a family friend, was a two-tier creation with raspberry filling and almond buttercream, and it was as sweet as the memories they were making. For their honeymoon, Taylor and Ben planned a two-week adventure through Greece, exploring the islands of Milos and Paros before finishing in Athens. It

HONEYMOON

Bucket List: Munich

Photos and Story by Laurette M. Veres

Honeymooning to Europe is a bucket list event for many Texas couples. Since most of the flights from Texas route through Munich or Frankfurt, Germany is a great European choice. What better town than Munich, Bavaria’s capital which is known for culture and tradition. So much more than just the host of Oktoberfest, here you’ll enjoy the sights and sounds of this world-class city. Don’t be surprised to see people walking around the old city in traditional dress called Lederhosen. We suggest staying close to the train station in the city center. From here, the town is easy to navigate. As you walk through the old town, you are surrounded by centuries-old buildings, museums, and shops. First stop, a true tradition, is the famed Hofbräuhaus, founded in 1589. This is a traditional German beer hall where you can enjoy a cold beer in the garden, traditional fare, and live music. Spend a few hours here to take in the German vibe. -84-

Join the crowd to watch the Glockenspiel in the tower of the New Town Hall; one of the most popular sights in the city. This clock has 43 bells and is one of the largest central clocks in Europe. Figurines come out of the clock and dance daily at 11:00am and 12:00pm. This pedestrian zone is a great meet up location full of people watching opportunities. After a hot day of touring, check out Schwabinger Bach, a stream that starts in the center of Munich and flows through the Englishcher Garten. Join the locals as they swim, play frisbee and frolic with their pups. Be sure not to miss the 02 Surftown Muc wave pool. Watch surfers jump in and catch a wave!

The Glockenbach district is full of trendy pubs and iconic shops. For a casual dining option, try the elevated Italian experience at Fugazi. At the outdoor market, St. Michaelshof, embark on an interactive mini-German food tour. Samples abound of herbs, fruits, lotions, and olive oils. Grab a pretzel at the Karnoli’s and enjoy the floral displays.

DISNEY’S INSPIRATION

Visit the German castle that inspired Disney’s Sleeping Beauty castle: Neuschwanstein. It’s a short train ride from Munich to Füssen and a glorious hike through the forest of the Hohenschwangau valley. Built as a retreat by King Ludwig II, the castle

stands above the narrow gorge of the Pöllat stream. Although the line may be long, the bridge over this gorge is a must-do. Construction began in 1869 but was never completed. As a temple of friendship, it was dedicated to the life and work of composer Richard Wagner, who died in 1883 without visiting the building. The castle was intended to serve as a private residence for the king but he died in 1886, and it was opened to the public shortly after his death. This is a very popular tourist attraction so be sure to reserve your tour ticket ahead of time. Top off your day at the Königlich Bayerischer Biergarten with local brews and hearty Bavarian bites in a laid-back outdoor setting. -85-

After many storied assignments, On April 11, 1992, the Midway was decommissioned in San Diego and remained in the inactive ship fleet in Bremerton, Washington, until 2003, when it was donated to the 501(c)3 nonprofit San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum organization.

Bridal Party

by Karen Balla

FEATURE

Punctuality is essential

That moment has arrived—the bride asks, “Will you be my bridesmaid?” For some, it’s an easy “yes,” while others may need time to consider. Being a bridesmaid comes with both financial and time commitments, so it’s important to weigh your decision carefully. While it’s an exciting honor to be part of the bridal party, remember that saying “yes” isn’t mandatory. If you accept, try to budget for expenses and have an open conversation with the bride about any concerns.

Bridal Party Responsibilities:

SUPPORTING THE BRIDE EVERY STEP OF THE WAY

Being part of a bridal party is an honor, and with that honor comes the important role of supporting the bride emotionally and physically before, during, and after the wedding. As a bridesmaid, you’ll be expected to attend key pre-wedding events, such as the bridal shower, bachelorette party, and rehearsal dinner. Punctuality is essential, as arriving on time shows respect and helps keep the celebrations running smoothly. The maid or matron of honor typically takes the lead in planning

these pre-wedding festivities, but bridesmaids may also be invited to help organize and coordinate some of the details. Additionally, when the bride sets out to find her perfect gown, you may be invited to accompany her for support and guidance. Dress fittings are an important part of the process, so be sure to attend all scheduled appointments for both your own dress and those of the bridal party. Bridesmaids are traditionally responsible for purchasing their own dresses, shoes, and accessories, ensuring they align with the bride’s vision for the big day. By fulfilling these responsibilities with enthusiasm and care, the bridal party plays a vital role in making the wedding experience unforgettable for the couple.

Wedding Day Duties:

HELPING THE CELEBRATION RUN SMOOTHLY

On the wedding day, one of your primary responsibilities as a bridesmaid is to ensure everything runs seamlessly. Arrive on time, or even early, to get dressed and have your hair and makeup done. Be fully prepared with your dress, shoes, and accessories, and most importantly, assist the bride as she gets ready for her big moment. As the bride prepares to walk down the aisle, help her look flawless by smoothing her dress and arranging her train. If she’s wearing a veil, make sure it’s positioned perfectly. Once she reaches the altar, be ready to take her bouquet while

she exchanges vows. Be prepared for joyful tears, keep tissues within reach during the ceremony. During the photo session, be attentive to the bride’s appearance, adjusting her dress or touching up her makeup as needed to ensure she looks picture-perfect in every shot. At the reception, it’s customary to stand in the receiving line and welcome guests. Keep the energy high by socializing and encouraging everyone to join the dance floor. Be mindful of the bride’s needs— remind her to eat and stay hydrated, as she may get caught up in the excitement of the day. If you choose to drink, do so in moderation to maintain composure and keep the focus on celebrating the couple. Stay until the very end of the reception, and if the newlyweds are heading straight to their honeymoon, send them off with heartfelt well-wishes. Your role is to support the couple and help make their wedding day as joyful and stress-free as possible! After the wedding, you may be responsible for ensuring the bride’s gown and personal belongings are safely packed and transported. Additionally, assist in collecting wedding gifts and making sure they reach the couple’s home securely. Being part of the bridal party comes with important responsibilities, but it is also a rewarding and memorable experience. Your support and efforts will mean the world to the bride and groom, leaving them grateful for your role in making their special day unforgettable.

How To Work With Your

Wedding Videographer by Karen Balla

-102-

FEATURE

Your wedding day is one of the most significant moments of your life and capturing it in a way that lets you relive the magic is priceless. Hiring a videographer is a great way to preserve those memories for years to come. While finding the right videographer can feel overwhelming, and you may have questions about the process, here are some helpful tips to guide you through working with a wedding videographer before, during, and after your big day.

PHOTOS BY KAREN BALLA AND COURTESY OF ADOBE STOCK IMAGES

A few things to consider before choosing who to work with are your budget, the time remaining until your wedding day, and style you are looking for. Do some research into different companies that meet your needs. Look for previous work examples and read reviews and testimonials from previous couples. Arranging a meeting with a potential videographer ahead of time is advisable so you can ask any questions you may have. Be prepared before your meeting so you do not forget any important details. When considering your budget ask if the company offers different packages and services so you can consider your choices. Find out what is included in the price, for instance highlights, full length, or raw footage. Are there additional costs for travel, overtime or special requests? Confirm what the payment options are. Is there a deposit required, do they offer a payment plan? Find out how long the videographer will be filming on the day and share the plan for the day’s timeline. There will be many key moments you will want to be captured. Share a

the final edit. To make the video more personal, consider sharing a list of your favorite songs they could incorporate.

You may want to consider booking both your photographer and videographer from the same company, as they will have experience working together, ensuring seamless communication and coordination. Good communication is essential, so they both have the time and space to capture all your special moments.

Make sure to confirm the timeline for receiving your video and the format options, such as a USB, online link, or DVD.

By reviewing their past work, you’ll get a sense of the videographer’s style. Be sure to discuss your own preferences, whether it’s creative, documentary, cinematic, or traditional. Depending on their level of experience, they may be able to customize the filming approach to match the vision you have in mind.

The company may wish to use some of your wedding footage to promote their services on their website and social media. You might want to consider allowing them to post a sample of your wedding video, which can also help

Being well prepared before your wedding, clearly understanding the expectations for the day, and knowing you’ll receive a video you’ll cherish for years are essential to a successful partnership. Justin is head over heels for Kayla, and her family and friends couldn’t be happier to gather and celebrate their love. Set against the perfect autumn backdrop of golden leaves, cozy pumpkins, and rich, warm hues, this charming bridal shower was nothing short of magical.

A TOAST TO THE BRIDE-TO-BE

The highlight of the celebration? The “Love is Brewing” beverage bar, where guests indulged in steaming hot cocoa and freshly brewed coffee, all beautifully complemented by a modern arrangement of orange and maroon blooms in chic clear vases. And because no daytime event is complete without a little bubbly, a self-serve mimosa bar was a crowd favorite.

Meanwhile, the pièce de résistance was the sizzling centerpiece of skewers, featuring succulent steak, tender chicken, and sweet pineapple grilled to perfection.
