EASTER SEALS WALK WITH ME
From breakfast tacos and dance parties to children’s activities and cheering crowds throughout the zoo, the morning was filled with joy. But at its core, Walk with Me is about something much bigger. Easter Seals Greater Houston serves children and adults of all ages with all types of disabilities, as well as veterans, seniors, caregivers, and families across Houston and surrounding counties, regardless of their ability to pay. Their programs range from therapy services and autism support to employment assistance, camps, independent living programs, veterans’ services, and educational support. For many longtime Houston supporters, this event has become deeply personal. Walk With Me was one

of the favorite events of a former Inside Houston contributor who recently passed away, largely because of Easter Seals’ unwavering mission of inclusivity and ensuring every individual feels seen, valued, and supported. The walk also carried special meaning in honor of this writer’s nephew and mother, serving as a reminder that nearly every family is touched in some way by disability, caregiving, or the need for compassionate support systems. One of the most moving moments of the morning came as this year’s ambassadors — Hailey, Lucyana, and Zion — helped lead the walk through the zoo alongside their families. Their stories highlighted the life-changing impact of Easter Seals programs and the importance of making sure every child and adult has the opportunity to live, learn, work, and play in the community. After fifteen years, Walk with Me continues to be much more than a fundraiser. It is a celebration of resilience, inclusion, and the kind of Houston spirit that shows up for one another in meaningful ways. Easter Seals Greater Houston’s 15th Annual Walk with Me once again turned the Houston Zoo into one of the happiest and most inspiring places in the city as families, volunteers, supporters, and community leaders gathered to walk, roll, and stroll together in support of people with disabilities and their families. The event, which welcomed more than 3,500 attendees and raised over $600,000, blended the energy of a family festival with the heart of a missiondriven fundraiser focused on inclusion, accessibility, and community support.

HOUSTON’S GROWING FILM AND MEDIA INDUSTRY Houston has never been short of stories to tell. From its diverse neighborhoods and vibrant communities to its abundance of local creative talent, the city has the potential to become a major
filmmaking hub. However, there is still room to grow when it comes to building a shared vision for the city’s film and media industry.
THE 4TH ANNUAL HOUSTON MEDIA CONFERENCE The Houston Media Conference looks to connect local film and media professionals, students and creatives who share a goal of making Houston a city where productions can thrive. The four-day conference took place at the Hilton DoubleTree Greenway Plaza. Presented by the Southwest Alternate Media Project (SWAMP) and the Houston Cinema Arts Society, the event features handson workshops, industry panels,

networking and career-building opportunities. “That is exactly the spirit of this year’s conference: bringing people out of their lanes, giving them access to one another and building an industry that recognizes the value of stories made from here,” said Katie Creeggan-Ríos, Executive Director of Houston Cinema Arts Society.
BUILDING CONNECTIONS ACROSS THE FILM ECOSYSTEM The impact of a growing film industry can extend beyond productions themselves, benefiting other businesses and industries throughout Houston. “Even down to the small business owner, the coffee shop around the corner, everything somehow can, in my
opinion, be intertwined within the film industry,” said Mariela Aguirre, Color Producer at Suite Bread. This connection is already taking shape in Pearland, where Suite Bread operates a color house that provides professional color grading services while also serving as a resource for the local film and media community. Aguirre and Dan Diaz, Colorist at Suite Bread, have also begun hosting cinematography and post-production meetups, giving film industry professionals opportunities to connect, share knowledge and collaborate.
LOOKING AHEAD AND PRESERVING FOR THE FUTURE As Houston’s film community
continues to grow, preserving existing spaces is also an important part of the effort. After months of fundraising, Arthouse Houston is moving toward purchasing the nearly 80-year-old Garden Oaks Theater and transforming it into an Arts & Film Center for film screenings, production, education, performances and community events. Together, these efforts are helping strengthen Houston’s film and media community, bringing people, businesses and creative spaces together to create more opportunities for local stories to reach the big screen.

What starts out as a celebration for her upcoming wedding becomes an opportunity to see herself throughout the city and share her bridal journey with the Houston Community. For the women who accepted our invite to return to the fashion show, the runway offered a chance to revisit the experience from a different perspective. Dressed in beautiful gowns provided by Ventura’s Bridal Fashions, these fabulous women took the runway in style.
BILLBOARD BRIDE
The Billboard Brides each showcased two gowns, and walked out to songs like Moonlight by Lisa, Raindance by Dave & Tems and We Found Love by Rihanna, helping set the tone for the celebration of love. With two looks per bride, the runway featured a beautiful display of the variety and beauty that only exists in the bridal fashion world. For a bride, choosing a wedding gown is one of the most memorable and important parts of the planning process. It is not simply about finding a beautiful dress; it is about finding the dress that makes you feel like it was made for you. Whether that means a timeless ballgown, an elegant and fitted silhouette, delicate lace or dramatic train. Every bride has her own vision. The Billboard Bride Fashion Show gave our returning brides the chance to explore that vision once again.
There was something particularly meaningful about watching these women step onto the runway together. Each bride brought her own personality and energy, and her own sense of style, making every gown feel different. While the gowns were certainly stars of the show, the women wearing them were the main characters. The energy each woman brought to the runway reminds us what happens when we take away the pressure of being the perfect bride and shift the focus on celebrating love and making memories. For these Billboard Brides, the runway offered one more chance in the spotlight and a beautiful way to celebrate the journey that made them Billboard Brides in the first place. PICTURE PERFECT: Your Guide to the Ultimate Fall Photoshoot
Labor Day has come and left, time to put away your whites and linens, bring out the rich textures, layers, statement coats and darker more muted tones. Autumn, the perfect season for a photoshoot. Whether you’re planning a baby pumpkin photoshoot, creating content for your social media, or simply looking to update your family photos, a successful fall fashion shoot starts with more than a great outfit. The location, styling, lighting, and even the photographer you choose all add up to helping a beautiful concept come to life.
24
IN SID E H O USTO N
START WITH A STRONG FALL CONCEPT Before choosing outfits or booking a photographer, decide what you want the shoot to feel like. Fall fashion can take on so many different personalities, from sophisticated and minimal to romantic and personal. For a more timeless feel, think polished tailoring, coats and neutral tones. For something more dramatic, incorporate leather, bold colors like red, orange, or even black. If you want a softer aesthetic, knitwear, flowing skirts and warm textures can create a romantic autumn atmosphere.
The key is to choose a concept that feels intentional. Rather than trying to incorporate every fall trend into one shoot, select a specific mood and build your looks around it.
DON’T FORGET TO LAYER One of the biggest advantages of shooting fall fashion is the opportunity to play with layers. A simple outfit can instantly become more interesting when you add a coat, scarf, blazer, vest, or sweater. Layering also creates movement and dimension in photographs. Try wearing a fitted top underneath

an oversized blazer or pairing a flowing skirt with a structured jacket. You can even photograph the same outfit with and without the jacket to create multiple looks from one outfit. Fall 2026 fashion continues to emphasize intentional layering, with designers using multiple pieces to transform a look and create new silhouettes.
BUILD YOUR COLOR PALETTE Fall does not have to mean wearing only brown, black, and orange. Tones such as chocolate brown, camel, cream, olive and red photograph beautifully during the season, and adding an unexpected color can make the images feel much more modern. Think emerald green, deep purple, or even deep blues bringing more personality into your autumn look. Try choosing two or three main colors and building outfits around them.
CHOOSE THE RIGHT LOCATION Houston may not be known for East coast fall foliage, but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice the autumn aesthetic.
26
IN SID E H O USTO N
The key is choosing a location that complements your wardrobe and gives your photos the vibe you’re looking for. For a classic fall look, Hermann Park is a great place to start. With trees, landscaped areas, walking paths, and plenty of greenery, the park offers several different backdrops in one location. The nearby McGovern Centennial Gardens adds a more polished and romantic feel with its formal gardens and walkways. These locations work especially well with long coats, boots, dresses, and layered looks.
If you're shooting outdoors, consider scheduling your session in the late afternoon when the sunlight is less harsh. Overcast days can also create beautiful, soft lighting that allows the clothing and textures to stand out. For a more dramatic look in your photos, don't be afraid to experiment with flash or artificial lighting. A fall shoot doesn't have to look like a traditional outdoor portrait session.
CLOSING NOTE: MAKE IT YOUR OWN
PAY ATTENTION TO LIGHTING
At the end of the day, a great fall fashion shoot is less about perfectly recreating autumn and more about capturing what the season means to you. Houston may not have the dramatic changing leaves of other cities, but with the right styling, location and creative vision, you can create an autumn-inspired shoot that feels just as beautiful.
Fall fashion photographs beautifully in natural light, especially during golden hour. The softer, warmer light can complement the season's richer colors and create a more cinematic feeling.
So, pull out your favorite boots, layer on that statement coat, embrace the rich colors and find a Houston backdrop that brings your vision to life.
If you want your photos to feel more editorial and distinctly Houston, head to Buffalo Bayou Park. The combination of greenery, winding paths, bridges, and the downtown skyline give you the opportunity to mix natural fall-inspired styling with an urban backdrop.

Texas Tailgating Culture: Elevated Game Day Entertainment By Makinley Harvell • Photography by Manuel Cisnero In Texas tailgating isn’t just a get together, it’s a whole culture. It brings the community together and is some peoples’ favorite part of football season. From the location to the food, Texans take tailgating seriously. To get a clearer understanding of tailgate culture, we interviewed an experienced tailgater, University of Houston student Miracle Styles, for an insight into the tailgates she has been to and helped set up at UH. Tailgating has a long history and actually got its start during the Civil War. During the Battle of First Bull Run in 1861, civilians set up picnics in spots where they could eat while watching the battle. This continued throughout the war and eventually evolved. In 1869, the practice started to look more like modern tailgates when the battlefield was switched with the football field with the first recorded game of American football. Despite having originated during a dark time in American history, tailgating has become a staple of American culture, and that is especially true with Texas tailgates. Texans take every aspect of tailgating seriously, and the first
28
IN SID E H O USTO N
part of that is finding a good spot. Whether it is in the grass or on concrete, Texans do not mess around with their tailgate set up. The vice president of the American Tailgater Association, Stephen Linn, recommended that people arrive four hours before the game. That not only gives people plenty of time to pregame, but it also helps tailgaters to not get caught up in the crowds. That takes dedication, and that dedication is seen in spades with the students at UH. Styles stated that, “Some students will not be at that ten a.m. lecture, but they will be at that morning tailgate… it’s that serious.” A lot of tailgaters like to set up tents when they tailgate. There are so many tents and covers at tailgates that the location transforms into something else entirely. People set up their team’s flag, decorate the area with string lights, and enough lawn chairs to sit the entire extended family. The organizers of different tailgates also make sure the space is fan ready. At some tailgates you will find the space covered in the colors of the team, whether it is tents, signs, flags, or even the barriers used to mark off the
space. With so many people, each with their own set ups, the space can become very crowded. Styles commented, “You’ll see people in big groups holding hands to get through the crowds, and others looking confused because they lost their friends two tents ago to loud reggaeton music.” After everything is set up, that is when the fun starts! The food is one of the most important aspects of a tailgate. No fast food, no leftover containers of casserole, and no “light snacks”. The only acceptable food at a Texas tailgate is good old fashioned grilled meats, home made dips, bowls of chips, and coolers filled with beers, waters, and sodas! Texans pack up and bring their portable grills to every tailgate that allows them. It is a very common sight to see people bring long fold out tables to put a truly impressive display of food for people to select from. At some tailgates it is not uncommon for there to be food trucks or stands providing delicious food for hungry tailgaters. Styles said, “Companies come out and give free drink or snack samples… I remember last season we got free hamburgers and hotdogs before one game.”

Speaking of companies, Vito Garcia of Vito’s Chill & Grill gave us insight into the food his catering business provides for tailgates. Vito’s Chill & Grill is a catering company that has been providing quality barbeque since 2019. They do everything from weddings to corporate events, and this includes tailgates! Vito Garcia, the founder and owner, stated that his company has done several tailgates over the years, and has been hired for catering from different teams. That said his company is most often hired for catering by NuffSaid Tailgaters, a tailgate foundation that has been organizing tailgates since 2012. Additionally, Garcia has been on television to show off this company’s tailgate food as he made an appearance with NuffSaid on season 2 episode 1 or Emeril Tailgates on the Roku Channel. As for what type of food Vito’s provides, Garcia said that his company provides anything from Brisket to pulled pork. They offer staple tailgate cuisine such as hot dogs and hamburgers

and smoked meats that are cooked on site. The exception to this is the brisket, which Garcia stated is the most popular tailgate item. Garcia explained that the brisket with Texas style flavors is cooked low and slow for hours, and is then brought to the tailgate and cut on site. Garcia also explained the usual set up for tailgates. Usually Vito’s will arrive at the locations at around 6-8 am in order to set up the smoker, tables, and tents and start smoking the BBQ. Then at around 10 am Garcia and his team will start serving the fresh food, and will serve for about an hour before starting to break down their set up and equipment. Vito Garcia was very enthusiastic about the food he and his team serve at tailgates, and seemed very proud of the quality food they deliver. Before the actual game people need to keep themselves entertained. Cornhole, balls, line dancing, and anything else that is within the rules of the space. In Texas it is not uncommon to
see people in several tents line dancing then turn the corner and see people gathered around a game of corn hole. Some people will bring portable TVs set up in the backs of their trucks, and sometimes the organizers will have a dedicated area with a large screen and seats set up for those who did not bring their own screens. Other organizers will have other forms of entertainment for fans to enjoy. There are bouncy castles, games, marching bands, mechanical bulls, and sometimes even live animals. Texans love to be entertained, and Texas tailgates are definitely entertaining. Fans at tailgates are dedicated to showing their support for their team, and will always show up to a tailgate in style. Face paint, clothing in the colors of their team, jerseys, foam fingers, and specific decorations around their spaces are common sights at tailgates. Styles stated that at UH people commonly wear cowboy hats and boots that were
decorated with ribbons in UH colors. That being said, it is also not uncommon for people to wear something that stands out. Miracle said that at UH there will always be at least one person in a Spiderman costume, or people wearing signs with silly captions.
The atmosphere at Texas tailgates is always fun. Texans cannot go one minute at a tailgate without a smile on their faces. The atmosphere at Texas tailgates is always fun. Texans cannot go one minute at a tailgate without a smile on their faces. With so much fun, food, drinks, and general fan fare going around it is difficult for anyone to not to get hyped up. Texans are known for their big hearts and personalities, and with tailgates both are put on full display. Texas tailgating is an experience like no other. It is a sacred
tradition for any sports fan, and brings the communities together in ways that few other events can. It is wonderful how tailgates bring people together. That seems to be one of the draws of tailgating: being around fellow fans. It is more fun to be able to celebrate what you love when you are with people who enjoy it just as much as you do. In a way, tailgates go beyond watching a game. It is a gathering of fans in support of their teams, and in Texas, our go big or go home attitudes are on full display. When asked to describe tailgates at UH Miracle Styles described them as lively and a way for everyone to not only support the team, but each other as well. “Pop into a tent and if you look lost someone will help you learn the current line dance or pass you a drink,” said Styles. Texas tailgates are bigger and better than anywhere else, and that is because Texans put everything into making them the best they can be. It is what the team, and fans, deserve.

HOT SPRINGS, ARKANSAS: WHERE WELLNESS, HISTORY, AND A LITTLE BIT OF MISCHIEF MEET Tucked into the Ouachita Mountains and long celebrated as “America’s First Resort,” this storied Southern destination blends oldworld glamour, natural beauty, and an unmistakable sense of ease. Take in the beauty of the area at Lookout Point Lakeside Inn. The view over Lake Hamilton is one of the most romantic in town. A visit to the Gangster Museum of America reveals a fascinating chapter when the town was a playground for America’s most infamous names. Al Capone, Lucky Luciano, and Bugsy Siegel once walked these very streets, drawn by mineral waters by day and illicit entertainment by night.

A STORIED PAST Step into The Ohio Club, established in 1905 as a bar and legal casino, it quickly became a hub for gambling, entertainment, and high-profile visitors. When gambling was outlawed in 1913 and Prohibition in the United States followed, the Ohio Club adapted by operating as a speakeasy under the name “Ohio Cigar Store,” secretly continuing its bar and casino activities behind a false hat storefront. Today, the Ohio Club’s history is kept alive by owners Saddiq and Jeannie Mir. Baseball fans take note, Hot Springs is considered the birthplace of MLB spring training.

ARUBA,
ONE OF THE HAPPIEST PLACES ON EARTH By Karen Balla There's a reason Aruba calls itself "One Happy Island." That happiness comes wrapped in turquoise water, powder-white sand, and near-guaranteed sunshine. Add dinners on the sand, sunsets that turn the whole sky gold, and an easy Dutch-Caribbean charm, it's no wonder Aruba has become one of the Caribbean's top destinations. Here's how to spend your vacation on this six-milewide island.
WHERE TO STAY: ARUBA MARRIOTT RESORT Set on the island's liveliest stretch of sand, Aruba Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino, is a high-rise resort pairing a prime beachfront setting with comfort and amenities.
trees and glittering ocean views, the scene creates a breathtaking backdrop for every moment of your stay.
A SNORKELING ADVENTURE BY CATAMARAN Explore Aruba's stunning coastline aboard a catamaran cruise featuring snorkeling stops at some of the island's premier reefs. One stop brings you to the famous SS Antilla, a 400-foot World War II German freighter and one of the largest shipwrecks in the Caribbean. Resting just offshore, the coral-covered wreck is surrounded by colorful tropical fish, sea turtles, and other vibrant marine life. With stunning views below the surface and incredible scenery at every stop, the excursion offers a memorable way to discover Aruba's underwater world.
A STOP AT THE ARUBA ALOE FACTORY The resort just completed a multimillion-dollar renovation of all 414 rooms and suites, finished in late 2025 — and it shows. Everything feels fresh and bright with a calm coastal palette and thoughtful, elegant touches throughout. It's the kind of space that makes you want to slow down, open the curtains, and just take it all in. For the ultimate treat, upgrade to a suite. The best feature is the private wraparound balcony — a secluded outdoor space that's the perfect place to sip morning coffee, feel the ocean breeze, or watch the sunset over the beach. TIME TO UNWIND After a day of island exploring, come back to the resort and unwind. Adventure is part of any Aruba trip, but so is knowing when to slow down. Spend an unhurried afternoon at the adults-only pool, set against sweeping views of the island. Rent a cabana if you want extra privacy, or stretch out poolside with a cocktail in hand. Easygoing and unrushed, it's a beautiful place to lose track of time. For another moment of relaxation, treat yourself to a massage at Mandara Spa, the Balinese-inspired spa connected to the resort at Marriott's Aruba Ocean Club. It's one of the largest spas on the island, with beautiful treatment rooms, oversized soaking tubs, and an outdoor relaxation area near the beach — a good way to unwind before heading back out into the sun.
A TASTE OF THE ISLAND When the sun goes down, the resort's lobby bar is worth a stop: a lively, well-designed lounge with handcrafted cocktails — including island-inspired creations like aloe-infused drinks you won't find back home — plus a top-quality sushi bar with fresh, expertly prepared rolls. It's a natural pre-dinner stop or nightcap on the way back to your room. Dining is where the resort really earns its reputation, thanks to two standout restaurants:
PRACTICAL NOTES When to go: Aruba's dry, sunny climate holds up nearly year-round, and its location outside the hurricane belt makes it a safe bet even during the Caribbean's storm season. Visiting during the quieter months (late spring, early fall) means fewer crowds and better rates without much weather trade-off. What to pack: Pack a dressier outfit or two, for dinners at Atardi or Mercát, since those lean toward a refined, resort-elegant vibe. Reef-safe sunscreen is worth prioritizing — some of the snorkeling spots discourage regular sunscreen to protect the reefs. Currency and language: The Aruban florin is the local currency, but U.S. dollars are widely accepted. Keep some small bills on hand, since they come in handy for tipping. On the language side, English and Spanish are commonly spoken alongside Dutch and Papiamento.Coming home: Aruba's Queen Beatrix International Airport has U.S. Customs pre-clearance, so you land back in the U.S. already cleared through customs.
• Mercát — an oceanfront Mediterranean restaurant drawing on the flavors of Spain, Italy, Greece, and Lebanon, built around a sharingstyle menu meant for lingering. The airy, bluetoned dining room and terrace look straight out over the Caribbean — a beautiful spot for either a relaxed breakfast or a dressed-up dinner. • Atardi — enjoy dinner with your toes in the sand as gentle waves roll onto the shore and the Caribbean sunset paints an exquisite backdrop. Known for its fresh seafood and elegant island-inspired cuisine, you’ll dine just steps from the surf. Aruba's real magic isn't just the beach — it's how easily the island lets you do nothing and everything in the same trip. Spend the mornings out on the water or getting pampered at the spa, the afternoons doing absolutely nothing on the beach, and the evenings savoring dinner and drinks beneath a sky full of stars.

DISCOVERING LUBBOCK: ART, HISTORY, WINE, AND WEST TEXAS CHARM By Zenah Al-Naimi
Located in the heart of the South Plains, Lubbock, Texas offers its visitors a different side of the lone star state. A side that is rooted in tradition, rich history and a growing food and wine scene filled with modern experiences.
captures the history of the city. Designed with the cities’ cotton history in mind and paired with stylish, modern accommodations and an inviting atmosphere, the hotel offers a comforting and relaxing place of rest after touring all the area has to offer.
“Ooh-wee-ohh, I look just like Buddy Holly. Oh, oh and you’re Mary Tyler Moore” kept playing in my head as we toured the Buddy Holly Musuem. Also known as the “Hub City,” Lubbock is the hometown of rock and roll legend Buddy Holly. The city proudly honors his legacy through museums, Performing Arts and Science Centers, and landmarks celebrating the young musicians’ lasting impact on the city and the world. Born in Lubbock, Holly became one of the most influential musicians of the early rock era before his death at just 22 years old. Today, visitors can learn more about his life at the Buddy Holly Center through displays and a documentary film.
A standout feature is the hotel’s courtyard, which also provides a beautiful setting for weddings and special events. The courtyard itself can host up to 200 guests seated and offers a beautiful setting for your special day. Not getting married and simply just there to experience the courtyard? Rent out one of the hotel’s guitars, sit by the fire pit and really immerse yourself in the West Texas vibe.

TRAVEL offers Italian cuisine, an artistic atmosphere and delicious drinks. Art continues to be a theme throughout Lubbock, as visitors can tour Texas Tech University’s public art collection. Scattered throughout campus, the artwork adds an unexpected creative element to the university grounds and demonstrates Lubbock’s appreciation for art and culture.
A TASTE OF LUBBOCK For lunch, be sure to stop at Evie Mae’s, a beloved Texas barbecue destination known for its smoked meats and classic Southern sides. The meal was a delicious reminder that barbecue is more than food in Texas, it’s part of our culture. Evie Mae’s smokes over 700lbs of meat a day; you would surely be missing out if you did not stop by and grab a plate.
AN EVENING AT THE NICOLETT If you ask the locals around town for most elevated dining experience in Lubbock, you will be sure to hear dinner at The Nicolett. The restaurant combines an elevated dining experience with a distinctly West Texas sense of place. From the atmosphere to the food, it is an ideal way to experience Lubbock’s evolving restaurant scene. Chef Finn Walters, who is a 2026 James Beard Award Finalist, has curated his menu to reflect High Plains Cuisine. Lubbock also offers the chance to step back into the region’s history at the National Ranching Heritage Center. The center preserves the story of ranching in Texas through historic homes, exhibits, and educational experiences. Walking through the grounds offers a deeper understanding of the traditions and people who helped shape the region.
What stands out most about Lubbock is how many different experiences are available in one destination. The city has deep roots in ranching and agriculture, but it’s also home to a thriving arts community, a growing wine industry, creative local businesses, fine dining, and a strong connection to influential musical history. If you are looking for a destination that blends West Texas tradition with modern culture, food, art, and hospitality, Lubbock offers a beautiful mix of just that.

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and that means food, family, and remembering what you are thankful for. When people ask you that titular question, there are a few universal answers. One such answer is “good friends.” People are so thankful for their friends that there has been the creation of a new tradition: Friendsgiving. It is like Thanksgiving in that people gather for a large meal, but instead of having to make awkward small talk with that one cousin you only see three times a year, you gather together with friends. More and more people are participating in this spin on the traditional Thanksgiving, and that means more and more people need to know what to expect. Here is our guide for hosting the perfect Friendsgiving.
1
The Guests
The guests are the most important part of any Friendsgiving. Making sure everyone in the friend group is there is a must. Hosting means opening up your home to your friends, which is something you should be used to if you are hosting Friendsgiving. Some people celebrate Friendsgiving on the same day as Thanksgiving, but others will celebrate some time before or after Thanksgiving since they want to be able to spend the original holiday with family. Setting a clear time and date that works for everyone can be difficult, but that is what communication and group chats are for.
3
ENTERTAINING
The Food
If there is one thing Thanksgiving is known for it is the food! From the turkey to the stuffing to the pumpkin pie, no Thanksgiving is complete without a good meal. This goes for Friendsgiving too. While traditionally Thanksgiving has the host provide all the food, with Friendsgiving a potluck style is much more common. The host will provide a location for everyone to meet up and set the food, and sometimes the host will also assign who brings what. Some hosts decide to go with a traditional meal, and the host may be in charge of the quintessential turkey or assign it to a more culinarily inclined friend. That being said, others decide to mix things up. Some Friendsgiving will have the favorite foods of each of the guests, and some Friendsgiving will have each
2
The Decor
Making sure your space looks nice is important for any gathering, and Friendsgiving is no exception. You will want to set up early so you have it all ready when your guests arrive. You should give yourself enough time, and the time you start decorating depends on the size of your space and how many decorations you want to use. You do not need to over think it when it comes to decorations. Since Friendsgiving is inspired by Thanksgiving you can decorate in the same way you would the original holiday. This means oranges, reds, yellows, and browns along with any fake fall foliage you can get. Depending on how fancy you and your friend group are you can either break out the fine china and fancy table settings or use silly Thanksgiving themed plates and cups. As the host when it comes to decorating you just need to keep in mind how casual you and your friend group want things to be, as well as how much you are willing to clean up afterwards.

guest bring a food that begins with the same letter as their name. The type of food provided is dependent on the friend group, and that is one of the wonderful things about this new tradition.
4
The Entertainment
Just like with any gathering, the host must keep the guests entertained. This becomes a lot easier when the guests are your friends. Keeping conversations lively during the meal should not be an issue to worry about, and the food will keep everyone busy. However, when the meal is not being eaten that is when you as host need to jump in. A good game is always a must for a fun time. Whether it is charades, Monopoly, Uno, Mario Cart, or themed games like pin the feather on the turkey, a pie eating contest, or even a Friendsgiving themed scavenger hunt are all great options. If you and your friends are not the gaming types then a movie or TV show are also good options. Watching a classic Thanksgiving movie or reruns of Thanksgiving special episodes are always nostalgic classics. Then again if you and your friends just want to sit and talk,it means less set up and clean up for you.
5
The Clean Up
After everything is said and done, the final duty of a host is the clean-up. Sometimes you need to brave the mess on your own, but other times guests will stay to help. If you had a potluck style Friendsgiving, be sure everyone leaves with any plates or items they brought as well as any leftovers. If you provided
44

all the food, then you need to start cleaning right away. It may seem tempting to leave it until tomorrow, but that would be setting yourself up for disaster. If you ordered food, anything left out will be a buffet for bugs to munch on, and if you cooked, then leaving them out will only make the dishes harder to clean later. Friendsgiving may be a relatively new tradition, but it is already a beloved way to spend the Thanksgiving season. Being with family is amazing but being with the people you choose to call your friends is also something to be thankful for this year. So go out and be the best host you can be!
ENTERTAINING
A wine tasting at home is an easy way to turn an ordinary evening into an occasion worth savoring. Choose a theme—Italian reds, California favorites, sparkling wines, or even a selection of wines from a favorite region—and invite a small group of friends to join the fun. If you can find a professional to select wines for you and teach you something along the way; even better. Set out three to five bottles and encourage guests to taste each one slowly, comparing aromas, flavors and finishes. Keep the food simple with a beautiful board of cheeses, cured meats, fresh fruit, nuts and artisan crackers. Small tasting glasses and handwritten cards identifying each wine add a polished touch. Most importantly, don’t worry about being a wine expert. The best part of an at-home tasting is discovering new favorites, sharing conversation and raising a glass together.
