Chanelle and Terence didn’t start as a whirlwind romance—they started as friends. They first crossed paths on a live recording project for an artist, brought together by the work they both do in music entertainment. From there, they became real, steady, genuine friends who watched each other build, grow, fail, dream, and pray. Long before they ever dated, they were cheering each other on in their businesses, in their faith, and in life.
They’re both entrepreneurs and creatives in their own right. Terence is the CEO of T. Vaughn Entertainment and is known for being a gifted composer, writer, pianist, and music producer. Chanelle is a multisector executive with a background spanning Technology + Music Entertainment Strategy and nonprofit leadership, in addition to being the founder of Flavours Candle Co. Their connection grew from mutual respect, a shared work ethic, and a love of creativity. They’ve seen each other hustle, lead, and lean on God when things didn’t make sense. Both Chanelle and Terence mention that friendship laid the foundation, and love grew from there.

“Faith has always been at the center of our relationship,” says Chanelle. They believe love is more than feelings—it’s a commitment to serve, grow, and honor God together. They describe their story as one of patience, prayer, and partnership, and they have chosen each other with intention and purpose.
For Chanelle, knowing Terence was “the one” wasn’t one single moment as much as it was the consistency of his character over time. Chanelle mentions that scripture talks about recognizing people by their “fruit,” and over the years she watched Terence consistently show kindness, patience, humility, leadership, and integrity—not just publicly, but privately too. She saw how he treated people, how he handled pressure, how he showed up for others, and how he continued to pursue growth in his faith and purpose. “Just as importantly,” Chanelle says, “Watching him love and care for not only me but also my two children — with steadiness, gentleness, and genuine presence — spoke volumes to my heart.”
“As a Christian woman, I knew my husband would have to love God,

honor me, bring peace into my life, and lead with both strength and gentleness. Terence has been that safe place for me. He's thoughtful, patient, loving, supportive, and steady. He makes me laugh constantly, encourages my dreams, and somehow manages to be deeply grounded while also being… SUPER CHOCOLATY FINE!” says Chanelle.
One of the things Chanelle loves most about their relationship is that it doesn’t feel forced. It has grown slowly and naturally out of years of trust and friendship. There is peace in it—not perfection, but the kind of peace that comes when the Lord is truly at the center.
The engagement itself reflected all of that so beautifully. Terence planned a weekend in the Texas Hill Country, surrounded by wideopen skies and what Chanelle describes as “the beauty of God’s creation”—something Terence knows Chanelle deeply loves.
He surprised her with dinner at a Michelin-starred restaurant with an intimate setting and a tasting menu booked months in advance. He arranged a special

menu for her because he knew she wouldn’t enjoy some of the more adventurous dishes. “That attention to detail is so him—thoughtful, observant, and incredibly kind,” mentions Chanelle.
The next day, he hired a private driver and took her through the Fredericksburg wine country for a full day of vineyard views, great food, and quiet conversation. It was beautiful and peaceful, and still she had no idea what was coming.
Later that day, Terence brought her to a hilltop overlooking the scenery, where the sun and sky stretched endlessly around them. They sat, talked, laughed, and reflected on life. “Being in that moment—surrounded by creation—reminded me of Psalm 19: ‘The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.’ And right there, in the quiet and the beauty, Terence proposed,” she recalls.
It was simple, heartfelt, and deeply meaningful. Even with all the thoughtful details of the weekend, what mattered most was the sincerity of his heart and the peace they both shared. Over the years, they have learned that love grows best when friendship is the foundation and God is at the center. Chanelle and Terence are both looking forward to loving, honoring, and cherishing each other for a lifetime.
That same authenticity that helped build Chanelle and Terence's relationship also carried Chanelle through the Houston Bridal Extravaganza Show’s Billboard Bride tryouts when a Houston bride is selected to be the face of the event. Instead of approaching the audition as

a performance, she focused on simply being herself. Chanelle arrived at the try-outs barefaced and dressed to the nines.
"It was quick and painless! I walked in as myself; no script, no performance, just Chanelle. I think when you're comfortable in who you are, sitting before a panel, answering video interview questions, and walking a mini runway all come naturally. I didn't overthink any of it and I believe that made all the difference,” she says.
For Chanelle, the experience was less about impressing judges and more about embracing the opportunity with confidence. Her genuine personality and poise came shining through, qualities that have become defining characteristics not only in her personal life with Terence but throughout her journey as a Billboard Bride. The experience reinforced the importance of authenticity, showing up as yourself and trusting that who you are will always be enough.
One of the highlights of every Billboard Bride’s experience is the opportunity to experience the vast array of gowns available at Ventura’s Bridal Fashions. Chanelle stepped into a variety of wedding gowns, each offering a unique look and personality. Rather than focusing on a single bridal style, she embraced the chance to
showcase different silhouettes and designs, helping other brides imagine what might be possible for their own wedding day.
"It was an absolute blast!" Chanelle says. "Getting to step into multiple gowns for the photoshoot was so much fun. I wanted to be versatile in my selections so that other brides have the opportunity to envision themselves in a variety of looks and styles. Every dress tells a different story, and I loved being able to bring several of those stories to life in one shoot."
As Chanelle prepares to begin this next chapter with Terence, her perspective on marriage remains rooted in something deeper than the details of the wedding day itself. While she has enjoyed every part of the journey, she hopes other brides remember what matters most.
"My biggest message to any bride would be this: remember the true reason for this season. The flowers, the dress, the venue: all of it is beautiful and worth celebrating, but at the end of it all, it is about entering into a covenant. You are choosing a person, joining your life to your best friend, and committing to love, serve, and honor them for a lifetime. Don't let the details of the day overshadow the depth and beauty of what you're actually stepping into."

Victory Vipers is a longstanding and wellrespected cheerleading organization founded in 1996 by Vicki Hernandez, now marking its 30th anniversary. For three decades, Vicki has cultivated a community that develops confident athletes, fosters strong teamwork, and instills life skills that extend far beyond the mat.
Since she was a child Vicki always dreamed of sharing her passion for gymnastics and cheerleading with others. She began gymnastics in kindergarten quickly developing a deep commitment to the sport, training up to 30 hours a week from elementary school through seventh grade.
In addition to gymnastics and cheerleading, Vicki trained in multiple dance styles, further strengthening her overall athletic ability. She continued these disciplines through high school and college, eventually leading her to coaching opportunities at camps across the United States.

Vicki’s experience expanded to serving as a school cheer sponsor, judging cheer tryouts and competitions, and even dancing for the Houston Rockets for a season. These diverse experiences ultimately inspired her to establish her own program, Victory Vipers.
The organization’s core programs focus on both competitive and exhibition cheerleading. Its all-star competitive teams follow a highly structured format that requires a strong level of commitment, with routines evaluated and scored in formal competitions. In contrast, the exhibition program is noncompetitive, with athletes performing at events and showcases without being judged. This option places greater emphasis on performance and enjoyment, making it ideal for younger or less experienced participants who are just getting started.
Alongside its cheerleading program, Victory Vipers also offers a range of recreational classes for ages pre-K through high school, including girls’ gymnastics, boys’ gymnastics/agility, tumbling, cheer tryout training, dancer tumbling training, and more.
The Victory Vipers program is dedicated to developing more than just athletic ability, also focusing on instilling values like discipline,

sportsmanship and how to handle adversity through success and setbacks.
One of Vicki’s primary goals is to introduce the value of physical fitness in children from an early age, helping set the foundation for lifelong health. She also prioritizes teaching essential life and social skills, from communicating respectfully with teammates to interacting confidently with adults and acting appropriately in public.
When it comes to her athletes, Vicki values enthusiasm, adaptability, and a willingness to step outside their comfort zones. “I love a student who can take instruction, make corrections quickly, and maintain a great attitude,” she says.
Since its inception, cheerleading has evolved significantly, and Vicki reflects on how programs have changed over the years. In earlier days, there were fewer restrictions on certain skills—such as throws— that would now be considered too dangerous and no longer permitted in routines. Today’s cheerleading world is guided by a governing body, The United AllStar Federation which sets rules and divisions. With stricter regulations in place, teams must think more creatively to design routines that appear complex and impressive while staying within those guidelines.
Another evolution in the sport is how music and uniforms now draw inspiration from current pop culture, giving routines a fresh and relevant edge. Vicki points to performances where her teams incorporated themed concepts inspired by Wicked and Dancing with the Stars, bringing familiar themes to life on the mat.
Cheerleading is often misunderstood and can carry a few common misconceptions. Vicki notes that the media frequently highlights “big hair, sparkly uniforms, and makeup,” while overlooking the demanding training that happens behind the scenes.
Vicki emphasizes that cheerleading is unlike many other sports, as every athlete has a specific, essential role in routines that are choreographed down to each individual, leaving no substitutes and creating a strong sense of accountability to the team.
Another misconception is that cheerleading requires a certain body type. In reality, it relies on a wide range of body types and strengths. Successful teams need endurance, smaller athletes for agility, taller athletes for flexibility in formations, and strong bases to support stunts.
When asked what sets her organization apart from others, Vicki explained that with so many mega cheerleading programs out there, the majority do not have the personal touch that she offers, while she provides a smaller intimate feel.
Vicki has always been and remains to be highly involved in day-to-day training, choreographing and coaching each team with the support of her assistant coaches, many of whom are her former students. She believes in building strong relationships with every athlete and prefers to be actively engaged on the floor rather than observing from the sidelines.
With all the hard work comes meaningful rewards, like when students bring in drawings they’ve made for her, write essays about how cheer has impacted their lives, or return years later to enroll their own children in the program.
As Victory Vipers celebrates 30 years, its success is measured not only by performances and awards, but by the lives it has touched along the way. Under the leadership of Vicki Hernandez, the program continues to emphasize passion, discipline, and support for every athlete who walks through its doors. From beginners to competitive cheerleaders, students become part of a community built on hard work, teamwork, and lasting friendships that extend far beyond the sport.
As the organization continues to grow and attract more students, Victory Vipers is moving into a new facility in an exciting new chapter for the program. The expanded space will better meet the needs of its athletes and families, allowing Victory Vipers to welcome more students and further expand its impact within the community.

IF SUMMER 2026 HAS A DRESS CODE, TOOTSIES IS FOLLOWING IT TO THE T. This season’s swimwear line up is less “spring break” and more intentional styling. The vibe? Effortless style with just enough drama to make someone make a carousel post on their Instagram from a beach club in the Mykonos. Or at least you can pretend that’s where you are posting from with these beautiful Grecian prints from Tootsies’ most recent swimwear collection.
Tootsies are proving that swimwear is no longer just swimwear. A bikini is now an outfit. A one-piece is now a power move. And coverups? Coverups can double as evening wear.
This season, designers are fully embracing the art of looking accidentally rich. We’re talking sleek silhouettes, airy fabrics, gold hardware, and the kind of prints that whisper, “I may or may not be cruising on a yacht later.” The color palette ranges from sun-faded ocean blues and creams to spicy reds and tropical greens that practically beg to be photographed next to a pool.
And while tiny bikinis will always have their moment, Summer 2026 is leaning into balance. Structured one-pieces are having a major character come back, proving that covered-up can still cause a scene. High-cut legs, scalloped bust lines, and subtle cutouts are everywhere.
The real standout this season is styling. Tootsies understands we don’t want to pack 14 outfits for a three-day trip. Swim tops are doubling as going-out tops. A sarong doubles as a skirt, working overtime from beach to dinner reservation. Oversized linen pants continue their annual tradition of making everyone look cooler and more fashionable.
Accessories are equally committed to the aesthetic. Giant sunglasses? Yes please. Shell bedazzled bags? Essential. Shell jewelry, jelly sandals, and gemstone earrings that dangle and glisten in the sun. Your vibe is “European summer,” even if your vacation is technically just a Houston hotel rooftop pool.
Most importantly, the Tootsies swim collection feels wearable. Luxurious, yes. Intimidating, no. The collection celebrates

confidence over perfection, which honestly feels refreshing in the age of filtered vacation content and tiny string bikinis. These pieces are meant to move, swim, lounge, flirt, order another Aperol spritz, and repeat.
Accessories are having their own moment. Oversized raffia totes are mandatory at this point. Sunglasses are getting bigger, more dramatic, and slightly more intimidating. Shell jewelry is still holding strong, but it’s been upgraded with gold accents and sculptural details. And jelly flip-flops are the trend of the season you were not expecting.
There’s freedom in Tootsies’ approach to swimwear, nothing feels forced. Nothing feels overly styled. It’s fashion that understands life doesn’t happen in perfect Instagramable moments even though everything in this collection is photogenic. We all just want to feel as confident as possible when taking a trip to the beach or pool. We don’t want to feel like we struggled to pull an outfit together but also don’t want to look like we copied a look from an Instagram post. We want to feel original and intentional with our style.

Customers can expect to shop Marie Oliver for all their cover-up essentials. We photographed a beautiful set which included linen pants and a matching swim top. Perfect for the fashionable mom at the beach who prefers not to chase after little ones in a bikini and still match the beach vibes while doing it. Or for the girl that would rather go straight from the beach to her dinner reservations with her freshly tanned skin as her biggest accessory.
For the woman who loves loud prints and a stylish one piece, we highly recommend checking out the Made with Love collection. This one-piece swimsuit screams girls' trip and mimosas on the beach. The collection consists of a strappy dress cover-up that is light and flowy that matches the Soft High Underwire One Piece. We styled it with Sylvia Toledano Pink Jasper earrings and Gianvito Rossi sandals in bronze.
Of course, this outfit would not be complete without a cute beach tote and a hat to block the sun and shade to block out any incoming emails from your boss. We loved styling this look with a Raffia Maxi Tote and topped it off with shades from Chloe.
Summer 2026 fashion isn’t about trying too hard. In fact, trying too hard is probably the only thing officially out this season. The goal is to look like you just threw something on even if the “something” happens to be the chicest swimsuit anyone at the resort has ever seen.
Tootsies get it. Swimwear should feel fun, flattering, and just a little bit dangerous to your bank account.

Every local knows when the heat starts climbing the only way to survive scorching temperatures is by finding a pool, ordering an ice-cold cocktail and finding a spot to settle for the day. There is no better place for this than the Marriott Marquis Houston. Located on the 6th floor, this rooftop offers the world's only Texas shaped lazy river. Stretching 530 feet long and holding 140,000 gallons of water. This lazy river offers a place to stay cool while overlooking the city. It is important to note that the pool is only open to hotel guests, however you can purchase Day Passes Monday through Thursday on ResortPass.
The pool offers live entertainment like DJ sets on the weekends and holidays and only caters to adults 21 and plus during these events. But what makes this state shaped lazy river the top of our list for best pool parties isn’t just the Instagram worthy aesthetic. It is the vibe the Marriott Marquis Houston has to offer. Some pools feel chaotic, others feel like you wondered into a private country club. The Marriott Marquis lands perfectly in the middle; energetic crowd without the chaos, upscale without feeling like you and your friends can’t splash around and socialize without disturbing others. The rooftop scene is catered towards adults who want to have fun but also appreciate a comfortable lounge chair and a cold beverage. There’s music, the city skyline, private cabanas, and just enough people watching to keep things entertaining. This rooftop lazy river invites you to have a drink and stay for the sunset.
Adults looking for a summer social scene with the chance to beat the heat should check out the Marriott Marquis. Whether you are planning a girl's day, a fun date, birthday celebration or simply trying to recover from the long work week, this rooftop pool offers the perfect balance of relaxation and fun. Swim, sip, tan, dance and fully dive into ignoring reality for a bit.
When summer arrives in Texas parents can all relate to the same question: Where can we take the kids that is fun for the whole family? Ideally, you want it to be somewhere with activities to keep the little ones entertained to avoid the dreaded statement, “we’re bored.”
You’re also looking for room to relax and have a little snack break but also something different from the normal trip to the park, zoo or local community pool. Lagoonfest Texas checks all of these boxes offering a family friendly summer escape not too far from Houston.
Located in Texas City, Lagoonfest Texas is part beach day and part water park. This beach club is quickly becoming one of the best places for families looking to cool off and spend quality time together. This massive crystal-clear lagoon instantly feels different from a typical pool experience. Ditch the crowded swimming lanes and concrete deck, families can enjoy soft sands, open water, cabanas and plenty of room for kids to splash and play.
The biggest win is that there is something to do for every age group. Younger kids can safely enjoy the shallow end and sandy beaches while

older kids can enjoy activities like paddle boarding, kayaking and a chance to surf the FlowRider attraction. Lagoonfest keeps parents in mind, providing a full-service bar and plenty of lounge chairs to relax in.
At the end of the day, the best family spots are the ones that make everyone happy, kids, parents and yes, even teenagers.
When planning the perfect girls’ night out, the goal is simple: good drinks, good laughs, and a place that keeps the night exciting. Woody’s Hideaway Kirkwood delivers exactly that. This lively hotspot mixes classic bar energy with interactive games, creating the kind of place where the group chat finally comes to life off-screen.
The atmosphere instantly feels fun and casual. Pool tables line up the space while music, conversation, and friendly competition fill the room. Whether you’re a pool expert or just pretending to know what you’re doing for the aesthetic, Woody’s makes it impossible not to have a good time. It’s the kind of venue where hours somehow disappear between rounds of games, cocktails, and nonstop photos.
Woody’s Hideaway is the perfect contrast between playful and edgy. The dim lighting, neon accents, and social atmosphere create a cool downtown-style vibe without feeling overly formal. Every corner is photoworthy, especially during golden hour when the

What makes Woody’s stand out is how effortless the experience feels. There’s no pressure to dress overly fancy or follow a strict schedule. You simply walk in, grab a table, order drinks, and let the night unfold naturally. Whether it’s for a birthday celebration, casual Friday night, or spontaneous girls’ outing, Woody’s Hideaway proves that sometimes the best memories come from a little competition and a lot of laughter.
Buttermilk Baby feels like stepping directly into a Pinterest board designed for the ultimate girls’ day out. From the moment you walk up to the restaurant’s signature mint-and-pink exterior, the vibe is playful, nostalgic, and impossible not to photograph.
The outdoor patio instantly became one of our favorite photo locations. Between the striped pastel archway, bright umbrellas, and vintageinspired signage, every angle is camera-ready. Even under cloudy skies, the restaurant still feels bright, colorful, and full of personality. It’s one of those rare places where the atmosphere alone becomes part of the experience.
Beyond the aesthetic, Buttermilk Baby brings a fun twist to classic comfort food. Known for burgers, fried chicken, biscuits, and sweet treats, the restaurant balances casual dining with trendy presentation. It’s the perfect place for sharing food,
catching up with friends, and taking way too many pictures before anyone can finally eat.
What makes the spot stand out most is its ability to feel both trendy and welcoming at the same time. Whether you’re dressed up for content photos or just stopping by for lunch, the atmosphere never feels forced. Instead, it creates the kind of carefree energy every girls’ day needs.
Houston’s World Cup watch parties are becoming more than just a place to watch soccer. As Houston prepares for the FIFA World Cup 2026, local venues across the city are turning match days into full cultural experiences and one soccer-centered venue in northwest Houston may be one of the most immersive places to catch the tournament.
Located inside a seven-acre soccer complex connected to one of Houston’s largest amateur soccer communities, Celebrity Events Lounge owner Alfred (AJ) Delce and Piero Caprille owner of PAC Global are building an atmosphere centered around music, food, family, nightlife, and the unifying power of the game itself.
“It’s like a melting pot for all cultures,” says Piero Caprille, owner of PAC Global Academy and partner

with Celebrity Events Lounge. “You could be whatever race, whatever ethnicity, whatever religion, but when that soccer ball comes out, everybody is unified. It’s one language.”
That sense of community is exactly what organizers say they want fans to experience during the World Cup watch parties. “We just want to make people feel part of the community,” Caprille says. “Make them feel welcome, make them feel like Celebrity Events is gonna welcome you to watch all the games here as a family environment.”
The venue sits directly across from a heavily used soccer facility that regularly hosts youth leagues, adult leagues, tournaments, and community events. But organizers say the experience goes far beyond simply streaming matches on televisions.
Guests can expect hookahs, BYOB accommodations, music, lounges, pool tables, cornhole, poker, DJs, food trucks, and after-parties designed to continue long after the final whistle. “We have a whole game room upstairs,” mentions AJ. “The energy level of it being like a Latin club environment...you just can’t get that at home,” says Delce.
The downstairs viewing area is expected to lean heavily into Houston’s Latin soccer culture, while an

upstairs lounge will create a more relaxed space for casual viewers and families. “We have two separate environments,” Delce says. “Downstairs you can watch the matches, whereas upstairs...just kind of for your average person just stopping by to check it out.”
Food and music will also play a major role in shaping the atmosphere. Organizers are planning collaborations with local vendors like Brannigans food truck providing bites to grab while you watch the matches. “All the different countries have soccer in common,” Caprille says. “But what do they have in diversity? Food.” He goes on to say that “food and soccer are some of the few things in the world that bring people together, food and football.”
Delce and Caprille also plan to host themed nights centered around countries competing in the tournament, encouraging fans to wear jerseys and represent their teams. “There’s gonna be fun games,” Caprille says. “We’re raffling World Cup tickets, raffling the official World Cup ball.”
The venue also plans to use the tournament as an opportunity to give back to Houston families by offering youth soccer scholarships through PAC Global Academy. “We want to give at least each country one scholarship,” Caprille says. “If someone has a kid they want to nominate, just send us a DM (via Instagram.)” @Celebrityeventslounge @mr.pacglobal

For fans searching for the ultimate World Cup viewing experience, organizers say their goal is simple: create a place where every kind of fan feels welcome.
As Houston gets ready for kickoff, venues like this are proving the best World Cup memories may happen beyond the stadium and right in your own community.

Houston is known for its food truck scene. Here’s why Oh My Gogi! is at the top of that list. Mixing Korean barbecue flavors with Mexican street food, Oh My Gogi! helped introduce many Houstonians to KoreanMexican fusion cuisine long before it became trendy. Its Korean BBQ tacos, kimchi fries, and burritos remain some of the city’s most popular food truck items. Houston’s diverse culture is exactly what allows concepts like this to thrive.
Located in the center of downtown Houston, the Four Seasons Houston places guests minutes away from the city’s top restaurants, nightlife destinations, sporting events, concert venues, and business districts.
Whether guests are visiting Houston for the World Cup, a Rockets game, a concert, or a luxury weekend getaway, the hotel serves as a central hub for experiencing the city.
Its location also gives visitors access to Houston’s growing nightlife scene while still offering the privacy and calm expected from a five-star hotel.
You should add Supergoop! to your makeup bag. Many sunscreens perform well at the beach or during outdoor activities, but everyday facial sunscreen that won’t ruin your makeup has become its own category entirely. Thanks to makeup gurus and beauty and health influencers across Instagram and YouTube, we now know sunscreen is probably the most important step in your skin care routine. Supergoop! gained popularity because it fits naturally into daily routines. The velvety texture doubles as a primer, helping makeup apply smoothly while still delivering high SPF protection. This versatility makes it one of the most talked-about sunscreens across the beauty industry, dermatology recommendations, and online skincare communities this year.
In 2026, long-wear makeup is no longer just about foundation formulas or waterproof mascara. The real secret behind flawless makeup in heat, humidity, concerts, festivals, vacations, and long workdays has become setting spray.

And not just any setting spray but sweat-proof, Houston heat resistant setting sprays. As beauty consumers continue demanding makeup that survives Houston heat, summer travel, workouts, nightlife, and full-day events, certain products have emerged as clear standouts in the beauty world.
This year, one product in particular continues dominating makeup artists’ kits, TikTok reviews, celebrity glam routines: Urban Decay All Nighter
Setting Spray. The spray is designed to lock makeup into place for hours without making the skin feel stiff, overly matte, or heavy. Unlike many setting sprays that simply refresh makeup temporarily, All Nighter is known for genuinely extending wear time even in Texas humidity and heat and was named by Allure magazine as the best overall setting spray.
In this article we have mentioned the notorious Houston skyline but just outside the bustling city is a notable river that is perfect for a quick weekend getaway and offers a completely different Texas experience. The Brazos River.
Winding through central Texas and stretching toward the Gulf region, the Brazos River offers a natural escape that feels far removed from city noise. For

Houstonians looking for a weekend reset, outdoor adventure, or a quiet connection to nature, the Brazos stands out as one of the best river experiences within driving distance.
One of the longest rivers in Texas, the Brazos River offers natural, wide and unfiltered water bending through forests, farmland, and open Texas landscapes, The Brazos gives visitors a sense of space that is hard to find closer to the city.
As Houston continues to grow and evolve, so do the experiences that define it. From hidden gems to standout destinations, what makes this city special isn’t just the places themselves it’s the culture, the people, energy, and community that bring it all to life. The “best of” list will always change, but one thing stays consistent: Houston never stops offering something new to discover.

As the nation prepares to celebrate the Semiquincentennial, which is the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, also known as America 250, communities everywhere are reflecting on the traditions, stories, and shared moments that continue to shape us. Across the country, this milestone will be commemorated with events and acts of service, a tribute to the generosity and unity that have carried us forward for 250 years.
Houston, a city known for its resilience and communitycentered identity, stands at the heart of this celebration. Our community has weathered natural disasters, economic challenges, and moments that have tested our strength. Yet time and time again, Houstonians show up for one another. Neighbors become family, strangers lend a hand, and the city finds a way to rise stronger than before.
Houston is also known as one of the most diverse cities in the nation and has truly become a melting pot where people from different backgrounds live, work, create, and celebrate side by side. That diversity is reflected in our food, our neighborhoods, our traditions, and the way we gather, reminding us that the American story has always been shaped by many voices coming
together to create a community that feels like home.
If you’re planning a July 4th gathering this year, desserts are an easy way to add color, nostalgia, and celebration to your table. Summer gatherings feel even more special when the table is filled with desserts your guests will truly enjoy and remember for years to come.
Even the simplest traditions like a grandmother always keeping ice pops in the freezer for her grandchildren, can leave a lasting impression. From simple family favorites to festive treats that spark conversation, these sweet additions can elevate any Independence Day party.
A colorful cake with red, white, and blue layers that make every slice feel festive.
A rich, smooth classic topped with creamy frosting.
Vanilla ice cream sandwiches rolled in red, white, and blue sprinkles for an easy July 4th treat.
Star-shaped watermelon with blueberries and strawberries for a fun, refreshing snack that’s sure to be a crowd favorite.

Freedom Over Texas is a community event returning for its thirty- ninth year at Eleanor Tinsley and Sam Houston Parks. On July 4th from 3 to 10 PM, Houstonians and visitors enjoy a full day of activities honoring Independence Day and America’s 250th anniversary. This year, the celebration is expected to draw even more excitement as guests from out of town arrive for the soccer festivities happening across the city this summer. The celebration will offer something for everyone. The music lineup features Los Lonely Boys, Collective Soul, and Keith Urban closing out the night on the Freedom Stage. Families can explore Fútbol Park, Liberty Park, the Kids Zone, the Budweiser Zone, and the Dr Pepper Flavor Zone, each offering a unique way to enjoy the day and feel part of the Houston community.
The night will end with a massive fireworks show that lights up the entire skyline and is broadcast live on ABC13. It’s a moment where we all pause together and are reminded why these celebrations matter. May each burst of light be a symbol that freedom, hope, and the pursuit of happiness are ever-evolving parts of the country’s story that is shaped every day by the people who call this nation home.

If you are looking for a vacation spot that feels like you have stepped into a storybook; quiet mornings, mountain air, charming streets and just enough adventure to keep things exciting. Located between the Blue Ridge and Allegheny Mountains, this little valley town is overflowing with romantic history and those “I think I want to live here” kind of moments. Lexington, Virginia has all this to offer and more.
The town of Lexington will greet you with aged old sidewalks, and the smell of mountain air. Everything moves a little slower here, the sun seems to slowly creep over the mountain points in the morning, and locals and visitors stroll the streets without any real apparent destination. Spend your first days as a visitor, wandering through downtown, walking into antique stores and
art galleries, or take a carriage tour of downtown Lexington with Lexington Carriage and meet the sweet horses that pull the carriage, Weston and Arron.
The town’s historic charm is undeniable, but it never feels outdated. You will find beautifully historic buildings and inns that make you feel a part of the story. The Inn at Brierley Hill, for example, is a secluded and charming place to stay, surrounded by the mountains, every which way you look will have a breath-taking view. Less than five minutes away from the heart of Lexington this inn offers guests a chance to unwind and relax.
Now, if you are the type of traveler that is looking to stay in town, I recommend the Georges a luxurious hotel located right in the heart of the city. The Georges has acquired five historic buildings all named

after historical and famous alumni of the Virginia Military Institute.
Lexington’s food scene is something to be mentioned. At the corner of Main and Washington stop in and enjoy a comforting meal in a cozy café. Annies at the Georges is a great spot to stop in for breakfast or lunch and enjoy fresh pastries, coldpressed juice and specialty teas like Virginia’s own Junga Chai.
If wine is your love language, make time to visit the Virginia Gold Orchard, a family-owned orchard that was started back in 1990 by Paul and Youngsuk Estabrook. The orchard has about 2,000 Asian pear trees, which they have used the pears from those trees to curate a delicious pear wine. The Orchard is also home to cultivated lavender gardens and estate grown wines. You might just find yourself
planning your anniversary trip here or packing up the whole family.
All in all, Lexington, Virginia is a place that invites it’s visitors to pause and savor every moment. With its romantic mountain setting, intimate inns, thoughtfully crafted dining, and welcoming people, it offers a traveler a vacation that feels both meaningful and unhurried. Days seem to slow down with scenic walks, wine tastings, and quiet adventures, while evenings are made for candlelit dinners and conversations and moments that become core memories. Seeking an escape, charm, and new and lasting memories, Lexington proves that the most unforgettable beginnings often happen in the most beautifully understated places.

There are certain destinations that completely surprise you the moment you arrive, and Jackson Hole was absolutely one of those places for me.
As Houstonians, we are used to mild winters, traffic, busy schedules, and honestly, not a lot of snowcovered mountain scenery. So landing in Jackson Hole and immediately seeing towering peaks, cozy lodges, fireplaces everywhere, and snow lightly falling felt like stepping into another world.
What I loved most about this trip is that Jackson Hole truly works for almost every kind of traveler. Couples looking for a romantic getaway will love it, families will love it, and friend groups wanting a winter adventure will love it too. And a huge reason why is the combination of the Wyoming Inn of Jackson Hole and The Lodge at Jackson Hole.
The Wyoming Inn feels more intimate and romantic. It has that cozy “cowboy core” design aesthetic everyone is suddenly obsessed with right now, but it feels authentic rather than trendy.
Meanwhile, The Lodge is perfect for families or larger groups. Between the heated pool, cozy fireplaces, Fireside Lounge, breakfast buffet, connecting rooms,

and convenient on-site parking, it makes traveling incredibly easy. One detail I absolutely loved was the hand-carved wooden bears and raccoons throughout the property.
One of the smartest things about both hotels is their location. They sit just outside the main downtown square, which means guests get all the convenience of being near Jackson’s shops and restaurants without getting caught in the busiest tourist areas. They also provide shuttle services to downtown Jackson Hole and the airport.
One of the highlights of the trip was visiting Snow King Observatory & Planetarium. The observatory sits high above Jackson Hole and offers one of the most unique experiences in the country. The nighttime views alone are unforgettable. Being that high above Jackson Hole at night, surrounded by snow-covered mountains and unbelievably clear skies, felt almost surreal.
Dinner afterward at Aurora felt like the perfect continuation of the evening. Romantic lighting, incredible food, mountain views, and this quiet alpine atmosphere that somehow felt both elegant and comfortable.

I joined an early morning wildlife tour with Eco Tours, and it ended up being one of the most memorable experiences of the entire trip. There is something incredibly peaceful about being out in the Wyoming landscape right after sunrise, when everything is quiet except for the occasional sound of wildlife moving through the snow. Seeing massive elk herds and bison standing against the snowy mountain backdrop honestly felt unreal at times — like watching a nature documentary in real life.
Our guide was fantastic and shared so much information about the animals, the migration patterns, and the Jackson Hole ecosystem, which made the experience even more interesting. Even for people who are not typically “outdoorsy,” this is the kind of activity that makes you slow down and appreciate how beautiful Wyoming really is. Between the scenery, the wildlife sightings, and the crisp mountain air, the tour gave us a completely different side of Jackson Hole beyond the restaurants and downtown area.
Astoria Hot Springs ended up being my favorite part of the entire trip. There is something surreal about sitting in naturally warm mineral water while surrounded by snow-covered mountains and crisp Wyoming air. The entire setting feels peaceful and quiet in a way that is hard to describe until you experience it yourself. But surprisingly, the cold plunge completely stole the show for me. As intimidating as it looked at first, jumping from the hot springs into the freezing cold water was exhilarating and honestly one of the most memorable moments of the trip. Everyone was laughing, daring each other to do it, and immediately running back to warm up

in the hot springs afterward. It became one of those unexpectedly fun travel moments that you keep talking about long after the trip ends. Between the scenery, the relaxation, and the adrenaline rush of the cold plunge, Astoria Hot Springs felt like the perfect mix of adventure and recovery — and a must-do while visiting Jackson Hole.
Whistling Grizzly at the Wyoming Inn deserves every bit of praise it gets. The restaurant highlights local Wyoming flavors while still keeping things approachable and welcoming. The elk steak was fantastic, and the overall atmosphere made it feel upscale without losing the cozy mountain charm.
Downtown Jackson itself is incredibly walkable and charming during winter. The holiday lights, local boutiques, restaurants, and famous elk antler arches make the entire area feel festive and welcoming. You have to make a stop at Million Dollar Cowboy Bar.
What ultimately makes Jackson Hole special is that it does not feel forced. Nothing feels overly polished or manufactured. The luxury feels natural, the hospitality feels genuine, and the scenery speaks for itself.
For Houston travelers looking for a winter destination that combines relaxation, adventure, incredible food, and true mountain charm, Jackson Hole feels like the kind of place you visit once and immediately start planning a return trip.
